I love that fact that 2 small countries of Europe, Iceland and Portugal, are the ones that have the balls to send something different and unique. Not like many countries that every year send the same pop, "cheap", commercial music.
T Bone and both Hatari and Conan created their own product. They wrote and compose their songs, they created their stagings and overall the whole concept of their proposals and that had to be rewarded. I hope to see them placing very high.

@@gaboltl I agree, it sounds like Rosalia but Conan started to sing much before than Rosalia - years before. So if somebody is "copying" then it's Rosalia. Can't say the same about Hatari and Rammstein. Portugal has no chance to win, Iceland yes - it is not so experimental and pleases a wider group of people. Regards
@@gaboltl You need to watch his other RUclips videos and see that he is actually entirely different from Rosalia. He is a complete artist, he composes both the lyrics and the music; however, he studied Graphic Arts, not music...he and his dancer are just very gifted artists and draw their inspiration from the life and culture of the various culturally diverse neighborhoods in Portugal. In this particular song, when he sings he does it with the melancholy of a Fado singer and the passion of a Gipsy singer, his lyrics are deep and meaningful almost contradicting the music that has a happy beat. As a person, he's humble and genuine as are his songs.

With Conan Osiris, I think Portugal is trying to prove that, if you go to Eurovision, the most important thing is breaking established patterns and boundaries, giving people new experiences and NOT trying to repeat previous successful formulas. 🙌🏻And...hopefully, just like Salvador Sobral did, breaking those mind-ear-eye boundaries is the real way for success. 😊🙏🏻Maybe people don’t need new hits that they can already listen in the radio stations everyday! Maybe what people actually need is new ways to make music! 😉

What makes this music such a strong canditate is that it really represents what should be the Eurovision spirit. Conan makes a brilliant work combining the portuguese traditional music, Fado, that just by itself has some North African influences, and the portuguese folklore, which in a way it is was also influenced by the Gispy Disaspora, so you have this arab / oriental influences and then he blends it together in a african dance hall beat, that is now becoming more popular in Portugal due to the big african community that exists there mostly from the former colonies. And that is the true beauty about Europe, there is so many different tradition and costumes that make us pround to be what we are but if you trace it back it time they all have roots or influences from another culture. And there you go, you can be listening to this beautiful song and the rythms would take you to a more oriental or african vibe but for me, as a portuguese, it still captures our essence and make me proud to be part of this beautiful culture.

This is the Eurovision Winner !!
Not only did he created the whole song , sings on it , dances on it , thought about the clothes , the whole choreography.
The song itself is amazing in the beginning its almost like a despair , saudade then the middle bit is frantic like his smashing everything like a rage and the beats running on the background sounds like mobiles phones ringing .
He also added background voices to it like they talking on the phone in the distance and traditional Portuguese guitar sounding distorted .
I mean everything's blends effortless.
This is art and the dancer is the cherry on the top .. Genius love it !

portuguese theme sounds new and refreshing, the iceland theme is a the same scheme of almost every EBM from the 90's. I always enjoyed EBM but we have to admit that there's nothing new about the iceland theme, it's well done but it's the same old EBM. even Front 242 and Die Form did that in the early 80's.
Comparing to All final national performances around Europe, this show is definitely the Greatest in light effects, screens with an amazing stage decoration!!! It looks like the official Eurovision Song Contest show!! Congrats Portugal!!
