just did a varation of you fly.. some copper wire( small ) along the body to weight the body slightly.. and a 2 pound test tied to the body.( make this 15 mm so you can slide the foam ball onto the epoxy coated mono, then trim ). this is tied up past the eye of the hook, about 10 mm to a small round foam ball.. then tied the fly as you spec it out so the fly would sink a little but the foam ball above the hook eye will float.. so it is suspended under the surface better i you understand what i just did to your fly.. might you tie one here so other folks could see it.. i push the 2 pound mono thru the foam ball.. needle to make the hole.. them a little epoxy on the mono to the foam ball let it set works on putah creek here,, the trout are very picky,, they only eat 50/70 percent of the time on these bugs
It looks beautiful, just one thing that every fisherman is too dumb to know and thinks one color will catch him more fish then the other.. Fish are color blind. All of them are color blind. They see everything in green and black. It does not matter what color you use. The more visible the lure is the more likely fish will attack, so use shiny lures or very dark lures. Black is the most visible color in water, silver will reflect most light, white will be covered in most light. Forget about green, yellow, red, pink and other fancy colors. These don't matter and fish don't give a darn even if it is the most beautiful lure in the world.
The actual colors within the visible spectrum are determined by the wavelengths of the light: the longer wavelengths are red and orange; the shorter wavelengths are green, blue, and violet. Many fish, however, can see colors that we do not, including ultraviolet. Fly tying not just a tying a fly , it's also an Art & I think the colours make this Art beautiful,, Regards,,,,,,,,,,,,Mak
