I have a cousin with a CRF150RB. Looks like the clutch return spring broke for the clutch actuator arm. Im trying to figure out what needs to be done in order to replace that spring, we're hoping the cases don't need to be split.
How did you know the actuator needed to be replaced ? I think that’s the problem in my bike cause there’s no tension snd even when I pull in the arm with my hand the clutch doesn’t engage
I didn’t need to replace mine. I was inspecting it and made a video out of it. If your clutch isnt engaging then start with the cable and make sure the cable isn’t stretched or bad. Then it could be actuator rod and then if not that it could be the clutch itself Hope that helps
@@Disparz if everything is correct I think he engine you will not be able to pull the arm with your hand. It will go a little bit not enough to engage the clutch. It takes a ton of force to engage. That’s why the cable is a cable instead of something flimsy. So maybe your cable is jus not tight enough.
I think you left out the part where you dont pop the seal out, don't see the circlip holding in the bushing and pry on the arm and shaft until you break the housing with the prybars😅 on suzkis they will sell you the bearing, but the clutch cover must have been 400° when they tapped it in there. I am going to quit while I am ahead and just tap in a new seal. If it still leaks the answer is a new clutch cover with shaft and bushing
Thanks for the insight. Btw, my yz250f 2009 had a problem today. When I pulled the clutch to engage the 1st gear it stalled and engine stopped immediately. When pulling the clutch, I saw the clutch assy moving out. So do you know what the root cause is.
Hi Quan Tran, I wouldn’t know without being there and listening/watching what’s going on. Almost sounds like clutch cable isn’t tight enough so it’s stalling. Try that first. Or possible that the actuator is worn out and you don’t have enough left in it to adjust for it not to stall
@@slavsquad Thanks for the reply. Three days ago I opened the clutch cover to examine the clutch plates and found that all the metal and friction plates were stuck together so hard that I had to use the flat screw driver to split them out. I saw stains and sign of rust on the steel plates. Now I haven't got time to clean them up and re-install yet. However, the problem was found.
@@slavsquad Thanks again. This morning I re-installed the clutch assy after sanding the rusted steel plates and soaking the friction plates overnight. The bike ran like a dream. :-)
Make sure to pop the clutch side cover off and release the tension on the clutch springs. I couldn’t take mine out without doing that. After doing that it slid out no problem without any force
You gotta pull the clutch bolts back off. It should not come off. Make sure before you put the clutch back together that the actuator is doing it’s job. You may have not put it on correctly
@@admiralclawz8524 you don’t use a hammer. You have to turn it clockwise back on. Just make sure bolts on the clutch are all loose and rod is out of the way before putting it back on
That’s weird. Just reverse the process and should be good unless there’s other damage as to why it came out. Only thing I can think of is maybe the clutch rod is worn down
My 2016 yz450f 60th anniversary edition I put a new cable on but the actuator will go up when clutch gets pulled in but barely moves and you have to pull it back so what should I do just replace the actuator arm?
Is the cable loose? Kinda weird that it barely moves cuz the cable and lever does that part. When engine is running if there’s no room left to adjust in the cable your then having a actuator issue. The actuator rod gets worn out over time. Take yours out and see if the end of the actuator is worn out and short. If so replace it. If the actuator arm is barley moving it should be a lever or cable issue. I’m not sure about the spring and all. Hope that’s helps
Man you have no clue how long it took me to find a video to do this I love your ass
🤣
Thx so much I thought I had to pull apart the whole case life saver

Thank you so much! Now I can put this quad on the podium this weekend!

If oil is leaking from that actuator do you need to replace the bearing, oil seal, and circlip or just one of those parts ? Thanks for the video !!!!
If your bearings feel good and is smooth then if it were me I’d just change the seal and circlip
Only vid of it on a four stroke thanks

Does the actuator come with a new spring
Omg thank you so much haha 😘
Lol your welcome
So if I’m looking at just replacing the seal on the clutch actuator do I need to access the push rod?
Hi Michael
Yes In order to get that actuator out to replace seal you need to access the push rod. Have to release the pressure from the clutch.
So if it is leaking oil, i just have to replace the seal right?
Yes
@@BrandonNelson-z7s And what if the bike creeps forward, and i cant get it in nuetral easy while its started
Then on your clutch there are those 5 springs with bolts. Put one 6m size bolt on each one.
