L’Arpeggiata - wondrous. They are a treasure. Everything they seem to do is of the highest quality, & so totally enjoyable to hear & watch (only via YT video for myself, alas). Christina Pluhar & her players & singers deserve the widest audience & support. Thanks to all.
Coronoto, theorbo, liorne, Scheen, Jarkowsky, Sherwin, van Laarshaven in the continuo, ! Christina is like a World Cup coach? The whole is brilliantly greater than its parts... Stay healthy, live long... You are a Gift, each and all! But remember, Gifts are lent, not given.
-- Philippe Jaroussky toujours au top. (1:06:29) Le Stabat Mater est une pure merveille. L'Ensemble L'Arpeggiata est excellent & l'ensemble du concert passionnant. --
Jaroussky is a great countertenor, I have respected and admired him for years, but the Nuri Rial has the greatest performance of Sances Stabat Mater and to Nuria also belongs the most magnificent performance of Merulas Hor che tempo di dormire, in my opinion🙂 Jaroussky filling and interpretatin is unike in most performances, but no one can do the best of everything, always... Therefore top in case of talent is the proper term, exept Nuria...😉🙂no one can match her... And finally this concert thanks to Madame Christina is gorgeous.👏👏👏

Thanx! I just have started wonder when I got your answer. The lyrics of the final encore, the one made as comedy: :) (translated) Oh how nice it is to be in Paradise Where we live in the Elysian fields Seeing the face of God revealed, Oh how nice it is to be in Paradise. Oh how horrible it is here in hell Where we burn in eternal fire Without ever seeing God appear, Oh how horrible it is here in hell. Here we don't suffer ice, wind and heat The weather is temperate all the time There’s no rain or storms or lightning, Here in Heaven it’s always peaceful. There’s fire and ice here, oh it’s awful, The frosts, the storms, and the scorching heat We’re in a place of such terrible weather Oh we’re gathered here in such misery. We have here all we could ever wish for And we have nothing that we dislike, There’s so much more, O Muse, I could say But I’ll pause the song, not daring to say more. Ah we have everything that is abhorrent Nothing we like, never any pleasure, We’re surrounded by evil and badness Desperate to escape but never, never, never! Céline Scheen. I share your impression, she is something else, with an immensely touching quality in everything she sings. She’s on Facebook: facebook.com/celine.scheen
They both do, but as it is considered an ornament, is treated as such, so they use it only in certain notes which they feel, can be embellished with some vibration. Singers use it more because of the nature of the voice I guess, unfortunately I don't know what's written in the voice treatises of the time about vibrato.
The violins were different. You can read about the vibrato wars in Early Music America Judith Malafronte writes about the 1970s and beyond and how attitudes and practice have changed Summer edition 2015 I think. Basically the vibrato was narrower and not employed continuously as it is by many modern singers. Emma Kirkby is a great controller of vibrato and she specialises in period music. Nathalie Stutzmann also deploys it very impressively so it has great emotional impact
@@frogmouth Thank you for this information. Mutter, the fiddle player, once disparaged all practitioners of "authentic" practice in some nasty remarks she made during an interview. I don't know if she ever apologized - probably not since she is extremely arrogant and stuffy.
@@violinhunter2 echt deutsch! They will back down and off when conversing with face to face. I have Scandinavian and Dutch friends who are also capable of colossal dismissive statements. Blunt beyond belief. The interesting thing though is that when in a real rage none of them descend to the sort of foul mouthed invective that many Americans and the English do. I am an innocent bystander! Australian and mildly potty mouthed and generally easy going and friendly, whether I mean it or not, as that is demanded by our culture.

In Covid times, what a feast of emotions and excellence, now a memory. Utrecht is always special. Thanks to all. Love to Philippe in particular.
Ce n'est pas seulement sublime, ça respire la joie de faire de la musique.
Absolutely sublime...!
I was lucky to attend this concert. Unforgettable!

Can anyone write the personnel and the instruments, please? Thanks
Just a little curious - why are the fiddle players not allowed to use vibrato but the singers are?

Sumptuous
Jaroussky is a god.
I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
I didn't say I worship him, Moshe. I am just acknowledging his musical deity.
;-)
Jaroussky is gifted bij God and a blessing for thepeople
Ich kaufe Musik bei unsere Stiftung. Ich nehme abschied von viele Sachen.. Es geht dir immer besser!!
What's the name of the piece?
Hi Madeleine, all the names are in the description! :-)
A festival of little divinities...
da se malo odmorim od gnoja koji me okružuje
tijelo mi je zarobljeno, ali duša slobodno putuje
Or even Jarrousky 😳
Christine has certainly gained some weight. I hope she’s ok 😘
Müll bitte hört auf
scroll weiter.
I always was a big fan of L'Arpeggiata, but here they ALL show they suffer from serious MEGOLOMANIA.
What makes you such a negative statement in CAPITAL letters?
I think they are gorgious, why would they "suffer from serious M."??
I agree with Gijs. I think they’re great 👍🏽
Thanks Marcus!
