On feels that only inJapan that such craftsmanship is appreciated, in the west buy cheap and throw away is the norm. Buying future antiques doesnt seem to figure any longer, which is a shame.
You are looking at the wrong things. There are plenty of western made articles that are hand made, artistic, of the highest quality and made to last. Thing is, we can’t afford it.
@@TattoosAndGin sure there are artisan made items in the west but they are not generally valued enough for average Joe's to save for. Not when you have the likes of IKEA or Primark.
Incredible piece. I feel like I've missed one step before the brushing with Urushi: how is the sea-foam-like texture on the side of the piece obtained? Is it the hammering/flattening step right before? Thanks!
What patience and calmness you have to produce beautiful crafts

It's detailed and patient work.
Japanese craftsmen are good at this kind of work.
I'm always astounded by the Japanese persistence and skill in details

It's either from the resin bubbling as it was cooked on or he dimpled the metal with a tiny punch
Дядь, ты молодец👍
С Камчатки огромный привет)
