RUclips recommended this video to me, and I was so glad I found it because I’m starting to mix on pro tools and saw a lot of tutorials with this folder routing organization but didn’t know how to set it up.
Finally a tutorial where the goal is not to impress us but to help us understand! The most valuable moments on RUclips is the little silence after an important sentence! Thank you!
Thanks so much for this. That was all previously a mystery to me (probably because I didn't take the time to study the manual.) Your PT videos are a great help indeed!
This is awesome - thanks! I’m switching to PT from Logic and this is super helpful. Going to check out the rest of your stuff after this one. Take care!
I know wth you meant. On every other DAW in the 20th century you create a bus, click solo, and you hear every track that's routed to it. In Protools, before folders, you route all your tracks to an Aux/Bus, click solo and hear nothing.
@@coldskoolbeatz😂😂😂 yeah ima logic user and this would get me HEATED😂😂😂😂 going back to check touting seeing everything right and hearing NOTHING?YOOOO🤦🏾♂️😡🤬🤬🤬😂😂😂😂
So is that Routing Folder like creating a Bus out? Can the routing folder be treated like a Bus meaning can you add FX and other routing options to it? What if i wanted to have 3 toms as its own sub mix then go into the routing folder, can that be done too?
good afternoon, i was wondering if you could help me, i have artist that dont want to him themselves while recording, but i still need to hear them how do i do this using sub mix

Thanks, so glad it was helpful!
Extremely well done with awesome clarity, precision, and professionalism.
Thanks Tom!
Shift alt is a big time saver, thank you!
Glad it helped!

So glad you liked it! Editing in Pro Tools is so awesome, but Logic has some great qualities too.
Such a great tutorial, and great to see Pro Tools making it into the 1990s.
Thanks! 90s?
@@scottwolfguitar just a little joke. It’s a great tutorial and thanks for putting it together. 🙏

Well done!! Articulate, concise and thorough. THANK YOU :)
Been using PT since 2004 and never bothered to work out what the folders were for....who feels stupid now? Thanks for that mate!
Haha! I’m not sure they have even been around for that long? They still feel new to me too.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial! Just wondering, what do you use to screen capture and capture audio from ProTools to make your videos? Thanks:)
I used Camtasia (it’s a bit buggy on my Mac and I’m probably switching to something else) and Loopback for Audio it’s awesome!
Ah man - you just saved my bacon. Thank tou 🙏🏻
Haha! Glad to hear it!
Thanks--good clear teaching. Nice vocal and band too--who and what is that?
Explained it very well THAN YOUUUUUUUU

As I understand it, a routing folder has the same benefits as using an aux for a submix.

I’d suggest using sends to create a headphone mix
How much is this Pro Tools sir, looks cool
I notice that you use superior drummer. How do you route drums to separate tracks?
Is it the multi out version? I’m pretty sure I found a video a while back that walked through it.
