      Tay and You 🙄

    • @TheProductofFallout
      @TheProductofFallout 7 лет назад +96

      *+Tay and You* It was a joke about the fact that when you have a really strong hand; be it a boat, straight flush, quads etc someone always seems to have a better hand than you. You have 9-9-9-10-10 someone has 10-10-10-9-9. You have quad kings someone has quad aces. You have a Q high straight flush someone has the royal flush(you have 8-9 hole cards and they have A-K).
      I assume it is because pokerstars like other huge online poker companies that have huge amounts of tables like Zynga do not actually shuffle the decks because the amount of server power they would need for every deck to be shuffled every hand when there are 10s of thousands of tables running every single second would be incredible; so instead they have every possible hand put into a table. All possible dealt card combinations mixed with every possible flop, turn and river and burn card. The problem with this is that hands are not random anymore they are predetermined and hands are now chance.
      Essentially the way a server would work is it would have a random number generator that would be a number between 1 and 8.06e+67(that is the amount of possible variations of a deck) and the number would coincide with one of the variations which is the closest way to simulate a shuffle. But as you can tell having 80,658,175,170,943,878,571,660,636,856,403,766,975,289,505,440,883,277,824,000,000,000,000 possible hand variations stored on a server would require an extremely powerful server.

      My favorite hand ever. I am always stunned when Lewis raises with quads on the flop. It didn't make Robbel lose, but it destroyed any common sense he could have used to figure out the hand. Then I am stunned when Robbel goes all in with quads on the river. I expect a big bet and him to let Lewis go all in. This hand is epic.

    This was one of those hands that you just get screwed on and you have to accept that things just didn't work out the way you wanted it too. But they are so freaking rare that you NEVER fold quads because the other guy "might" have quads as well. haha.

      I was playing (just with relatives haha) and I got quad fours or something and I was just over the moon, I got a bit cocky too. And my brother kept calling all of my bets, even when I went all-in and I thought that this guy had to be joking. Like, he was either bluffing or he had a full house (though probably not, considering what the cards on the table probably were - I was younger and these logical things didn't occur to me). So when he called I smugly, proudly and loudly showed off my four-of-a-kind. And he just calmly turned his cards to reveal a straight flush. Worst feeling ever. I guess I got what was coming to me after all of that talk.

I know my trouble is increasing but also know I'm only beat if one of them is holding two spades. I make another continuation bet. They all 3 stay in. River is the 6 of Spades. @SeahawksBrendonNelson 8 лет назад +25

      +1D0N because after hitting quads on the flop you want to slowplay so your opponents stay in the hand. just call and your opponent might catch on the turn and bet, and you can trap them. or even better, your opponent already made his hand on the flop but your made hand is much stronger, and you can just let your opponent strangle himself by betting when going against QQQQ.

    • @patjablonski9739
      @patjablonski9739 8 лет назад +11

      +Brendon Nelson It depends on the player and the situation. Lewis raised because he thought Robl probably didn't have complete air betting into two opponents out of position. Since Robl can't have a queen, those hands include, say, 66-TT, 9x, KJ, KT, JT and maybe a few more. Robl is not bet/folding to one raise with any of those hands, and he's often checking the turn if the flop goes bet/call unless he makes a straight or better or has a bluff (which again, Lewis has likely excluded here). Lewis also somewhat polarizes his hand in a spot where he actually has the nuts, which is great for balance in the long haul and allows you to get away with more bluffs in the future. Oh, and he's building a pot with the nuts here, lol. That's the aim at some point in any hand. If Lewis thought Robl was the type of player to bomb away very often on this board and in this spot, yes, his flop raise becomes highly questionable. But Lewis made the right read on the player and played the hand well.

    • @patjablonski9739
      @patjablonski9739 8 лет назад +5

      +Brendon Nelson I should also note that Robl called flop and turn rather than raising because he wanted to keep all of Lewis' bluffs in, since it's a polarizing spot for Lewis. So that's why the hand seems so "screwed up" as played; Lewis took a polarizing (a.k.a. high likelihood of bluffing) line so Robl kept calling, while Robl took a line where it look like he had a medium strength/equity hand, so Lewis kept betting into him. If you look at it that way, it makes much more sense.

    I was most curious to figure out the odds that, given two players with different pocket pairs going to the flop, the lower pair would flop a full house and have a 0% chance to win. In this scenario, with no other information about folded cards from other players, the odds that the board flops Q9Q is (2/48)x(2/47)x(1/46) = 1/25944. The odds increase by a power of 3 because Q9Q is just as likely as QQ9 and 9QQ and would yield the same result, There are no other card combinations in the deck that would result in this outcome - therefore, the final odds that the lower pair would flop a boat and have no chance of winning is 1 in 8648.

The statistical likelihood of a full house on the board AND you having quads off the paired board AND you knowing your opponent well enough to put them on better quads is basically zero for any player casual enough to be watching RUclips poker videos.

    Wow, Toby Lewis played terribly there. I can't believe he raised the flop. That only puts Robl on an early decision to fold, on tilt or not. Of course, that is if you didn't flop a full house. Ha.

    • @oldfrend
      @oldfrend 10 лет назад +3

      eh, i don't think it was a bad play. risky, but not stupid. a weird raise their practically screams bluffer trying to buy the pot. against a guy on tilt who probably has something good, an overaggressive move is a good way to get him to go all in quick. i was surprised he didn't reraise all in frankly. good control by a pro to see that his 9s full were still vulnerable.

    • @chicapees
      @chicapees 10 лет назад +3

      ***** Yeah, I get your point. But it's about position and making the most profitable move. The strong raise on the flop immediately puts Robl on an early decision to fold. Lewis obviously put him on nothing especially with quads on the flop. And there's no way Robl would've called/raised the turn with nothing. Lewis could've just as easily let Robl bet in all the way to the river until he runs out of gas. No need to waste the turn and river just cause you think you can bait a bluffer (which by the way isn't usually done with a raise on the flop). Not only that, you could've just as easily called and done the same thing if he bets in on the turn or river.
