    A couple observations now that I'm done... My crush washers were triangular as yours were. The washer size is M10x16x1mm. I went through 3 to 4 cans of Brakleen, a roll or two of paper towels as they shred, and numerous changes of nitrile gloves throughout the process. I also utilized my gun cleaning brushes as I found it easier to clean the caliper than my larger caliper wire brush. I painted mine in my basement as it was only 60 degrees. That said, I didn't have any issues with the paint thickening up prematurely, however the fumes gave me a headache! I painted the inside and outside as well as the rear brake brackets. That said, after my first 2 complete coats, I am uncertain if I could have pulled off the third coat. Instead, I utilized 2 kits, and applied a total of 4 coats total. With 4 coats, most of the rear brake dimpling subsided, and appeared a lot smoother. Another take away, don't over paint. Let the paint do it's job and settle. I found by "over" painting it and going over what was just painted a second ago, you just disturb the self leveling affect, and the chances for increased brush strokes emerge.

    Great video with a lot of detail, but you kind of over complicated the beauty of the G2 process. The effort you went through to pull the calipers is best for powder coating. I'm a huge G2 fan, I've done 4 different cars and the whole purpose of the product is you don't have to do all this. You can paint the calipers on the car in 4 hours, have your wheels back on a few hours later and drive the next day with amazing long lasting results.

    • @JetFuelOnly
      @JetFuelOnly  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching. Indeed sometimes I bring out too many details, but remember I was pulling calipers for multiple reasons - especially the rears. I agree though, if you don't have other work to do - on the car is enough. Although I'm still glad I didn't have to have my head in the wheel well all that time. :)

    For future reference you don't have to cap the lines or deal with brake fluid leaking out while you reinstall them. Just install a bleeder tube to one caliper, open the bleeder screw, press the brake peddle to the floor and hold it there with something like a piece of 2x4 . If you have power seats you can just find a good spot and just use the power rake to depress and hold the pedal.
    With the brake pedal fully depressed no fluid will drip from the lines and you can work at a leisurely pace with no worries of your brake system getting air in it or getting brake fluid everywhere, and you don't have to bother with rubber stoppers.

    Hey brotha, love your car. It is sexy as hell. I appreciate that you do all of your mods yourself. I have an ATS and have done all my performance mods myself. I haven’t done any cosmetic mods yet, but this looks very interesting. But where i live in so cal, I can get a homie to powder coat them for a very reasonable price and donut right. But, I respect that you took the time to do it on your own and with proper care. That is not easy and you did a good job doing it. That’s why I like watching your channel. Keep up the good work and inspiration.

    JetFuelOnly, If the copper washer gets stuck like that instead of using a visegrips to break the copper crush washer from the banjo bolt take a small dead blow hammer or a regular hammer and tap on the end of the treaded banjo bolt to break the washer free while holding the other end of the brake line as you are tapping it out. That's what I would of done it.

    • @JetFuelOnly

      I really like the thickness of the G2. VHT chipped in the past but right now it's holding well on that bracket. Even after a track day. I know a lot of people paint the bracket same color as caliper but something about it makes me think it looks less detailed. Personal preference.

  • @teamsix7185
    @teamsix7185 3 года назад

    How did they hold up to the brake fluid when you reattached the calipers onto the car? I've heard the brake fluid can really jack up the newly painted caliper. So some find it better to keep calipers attached and paint them on the car.

    • @JetFuelOnly
      @JetFuelOnly  3 года назад +2

      Just fine. The epoxy paint is very resistant to brake fluid. However the instructions state something about them starting with low resistance until they cure. I had no issues but mine cured for 24 hrs or more before install

    I'm running 18" wheels on my ATS But can it take 19" wheels without Rubbing 🤔 anywhere like full U turns and dips into the wheel wells. 225x40R18 on all four.

    • @JetFuelOnly
      @JetFuelOnly  Год назад +1

      Rubbing is dependent on width and offset. If you go 19s you gotta sacrifice tire sidewall height.

    • @Museville1
      @Museville1 Год назад

      @@JetFuelOnly 8.5 offset is what my 225x40R18 are now hopefully they won't Rub with 19's

    • @JetFuelOnly
      @JetFuelOnly  Год назад +1

      That’s the width of your wheel. Offset is how much the wheel is designed to set inward toward the suspension or out toward the fender. You should have no problem fitting a 245 (and likely wider) tire with the correct offset
