Just had the same problem on my 2006 Prius and your instructions fixed it! I had started looking for a blown fuse but didn’t pull any yet. I forwarded you video to several of my Prius friends. Thank You! Thank you!
In August of 2022 I experienced the same air vent problem on my 2009 Prius. So I did the same as this gentleman. I raised the temp to 90. I let it run for 2-3 minutes with an ambient temp about 95. Then I pressed the OFF button. I then hit the two different defrost buttons at the bottom of the screen.....Followed very slowly by pressing the air flow buttons in order - floor, floor/dash, dash, etc. The fan was off so I physically heard the actuator rotate and immediately started celebrating! It functioned correctly with AC on and dash vent blowing for a run to the grocery store, gas station and home depot. Success!!
Thank you I was getting frustrated with this issue. You are awesome. My defrost stayed on and the middle 2 wouldn't work, but I tried what you suggested and boom the middle 2 work again. Really a million thanks to you.
Before watching ur video i was worried about my ac vent prb then i start searching on the RUclips and i found ur video its really works i am happy now.thank u and Allah bless u
I just googled this problem and your solution worked thanks i had dealer me to prevent this never use front defrost button it has a tendency to stick use defrost and air to floor instead
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! I just saved 500-800$ due to this. it was 117 in phx when my center a/c vent in my prius stop blowng and I could not uber and had to go home!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I almost CRIED i got so mad and frustrated with this crap!! I hate this prius so much bc of the non manual air controls! This happens all the time and so frustrating! This is the only thing that helped! Thank you again! I couldn't find anything about it either!
Awesome, this worked! I have a 2010 Prius (generation 3). The heat/ac controls are a little different on 2010-15 than on the previous generation. If you have a gen 3, be sure to push the dedicated buttons for front defrost and rear defrost as well as toggling through the screen for the different vents. Not sure if this is essential but I did it and it worked! Thank you!!!
It worked for me! Not in this specific order but after pressing all randomly and setting temperature to low (because it was super hot outside). THANKS!
It worked on mine as well! Mine had stopped blowing when I was honking at someone that ran a red light and I accidentally hit the defrost button on the steering wheel at the same time. They were working perfectly until then and immediately stopped. I tried changing everything but nothing worked until putting the temp on max and turning defrost on
I was really surprised, to find this worked for me as well. I can't what combination I pushed that finally got it working and blowing out center and floor vents again, but cranking heat and going back and forth from feet windshield, to front defrost did seem to be when it finally kicked in. I have no idea how long this fix will work, or if I go and push the wrong button when the aC is back on if it will stop working again, but for now I will just leave it a lone and since I need the AC right now, at the feet and face. Fingers Crossed.... But How Cool (pun intended) For Now!!!!. So thank you much Curtis Brengle, because I was pushing all kinds of combos before I saw your video trying to get it to work, but putting heat to max was not one of them as it was like 95 outside, but that did the trick. :)
@@ntelas46 , yes it is still working but I don't drive much and am real careful to not change the settings... However you know it is a 2008 Prius that I have so the AC never really did much anyway after the outside hit 80F or hotter. However yes all vents actually still working and that was at least a year ago when I did his tricks....
@@ntelas46 , sure thing , i will in spirit pass your thanks on to the poster of this video Curtis Brengle. I don't know him personally but he deserves the kudos, I really don't know why or how it worked, I am guessing the massive temp swings caused some expansion and shrinkage of some parts or springs or something in there just enough that got the stuck parts moving again. Honestly I was skeptical and then shocked when it actually worked... I hope it works for you as well... Cheers.
When that doesn't work check my channel. There is a computer called the AC AMPLIFIER hidden next to the gas pedal, you can unplug a connector and apply 12 volts to two pins in the connector and, assuming your motor is not fried, force the vent servo to move to FACE. The problem is the sense part of the servo is not reporting position. Not only can you force it to move, but repeatedly moving it back and forth may clear the sense portion of the servo
I've been having this problem for a month now. Can't wait to find out if it works for me. I have 1st gen and 2nd gen Prius. Never have any problems with my 1st gen. But this 2nd gen Prius omg it has sooooo many little annoyances like this! and the water leak in the back. about a month or 2 ago my blower fan stopped working. I just replaced that yesterday. speedometer gauge going out. But it's like as soon as you fix one thing another one starts. None of it happened all at once lol. Something going on with my gas tank not being able to fill it up all the way. I can only put about 6 gallons in at a time. And I know that's not right because my older Prius takes 11 gallons. Had to replace 2 of the electric coolant motors. UGH!!!!
I've had the whole dash out the car twice already. To fix the cluster and another time to fix the MFD info not showing because of my aftermarket radio install. Had to jump 2 wires together with a resistor.
I wished that it could have could have worked for you. It did work for me and others as well. The part is rather expensive. I’ve had to repeat this exercise many times since the original post. It seems the key is to try to apply heat to the baffles on the main unit to loosen them up. I’m not a mechanic therefore cannot give you a final solution to this frustrating problem. I wish you luck!

2010 Toyota Prius Owner here… this worked like a charm! Thank you so much!!
Your a genius...6 years later. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Worked on mine as well. What a weird trick and as mechanically inclined as I am I truly don’t understand why it worked. But I’m grateful.
THANK YOU!! I'm in AZ and it's been 110 here...and only 2 vents worked barely blowing out any air...did what you said..it totally worked!
Oh my goodness. Thanks so very much my friend! I was totally surprised that this fix worked!! Take care and may the Universe bless you for sharing!

that is good info. I always thought the front defroster had something to do with this. Thanks
Wow, it worked! Thank you so much. I had to turn the defroster off and on several times and then I heard a “thumb” and it started working.
Worked! Saved me (and bunch of other folks) a lot of money... Huzzah my friend! Good on you!!!
