    YES PETE!!! I have been experimenting with percussive gates and effects... AND removing the clean strings from my acoustic mix for the last couple of years. I thought I bet Petteri could make this sound waaaay better than I can! Turns out you’re already doing it! Ha! I just ordered my new guitar last week which Andreas C. will be modding to take advantage of this idea! 🤩🤩🤩 Can’t waiiit! 🤟

      petterisariola Yeeeah!!!, won’t be ready until late this year, so lots of time to practice & maybe write some tunes before I get it. I’m also working on my own effects routing/switching system, which is a real brain-ache... but fun!🤪 HAPPY 2018! 🎆

    Thank you so much for this awesome gear rundown! Would appreciate a lot if you guys could help me with a quick question about the gate on the "kick" sound coming from the transducer pickup inside the guitar. What kind of settings would be ideal to avoid the "snare" hits leaking into the sound of the kick ? Petteri makes it sound so clean both live and studio versions! Is there some kind of processing dedicated to get a clearer "snare" sound ? Last question would be if Petteri uses this same setup and pedalboard when tracking for his studio versions? Thanks in advance for your time! Very helpful video !

      Hi! I don't use my pedalboard in studio. Working with DAWs, plugins and hardware processing gives me better control over everything, including the drumming hits like those kick and snare sounds. When I play live, the snare usually leaks into my kick channel ;)

    •  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you so much Petteri for your reply! Appreciate it a lot! Your music has definitely inspired me to follow a path that I had not considered, and this gear rundown video has helped a lot in pursuing a drum sound on the acoustic guitar. I also process everything with plugins, including WAVES JPP for drums, which gives me an instant Kick sound, plus EQ like you do on your pedalboard and saturation, plus some heavy boost on transients and limiting from Slate Digital Limiter. But the "Snare" always finds its way leaking into the Kick sound. Im considering installing another transducer just for the area where I hit for the snare sound. Not sure how this might work but will give it a shot. I dont have analog pedals, except for the OC3 for bass, which is giving me trouble on getting a clear bass sound in my recordings, but Im sure its my technique and my way of playing the chords. Your mixes and performances are insane! When I heard your music for the first time on Spotify, I honestly thought it was a 5 piece band. Thank you so much for the inspiration!

    @petterisariola, yo bro this setup sounds incredible! I'm just curious as to exactly what pickup you are using for the "punchy kick drum" sound on your guitar. You mention it's a schatten design brand, and a contact piezo element? Is it passive or active? Would you mind posting the model please and thank you good sir? I have a k&k trinity system, and I'm getting some decent sub, and low frequencies for the kick, but there is just no punch or crack, so I figure i need the dedicated pickup and to process that channel individually like you do! Anyways thanks brother, keep on rockin!

    Fantastic. But where does the timeline get the signal from?? And is the timeline set to 100% wet??

    • @petterisariola
      @petterisariola 6 лет назад +2

      Hi! Timeline gets the signal from the magnetic pickup's MXR EQ pedal, which has 2 outputs. Yes, the timeline is set to 100% wet.

    Thanks for the very interesting video! About that hypergravity comp, do you guys happen to know/remember if he’s using the Spectra mode or some custom toneprint? He did mention that it’s a multiband comp but not the mode.

      Custom Boards Finland 👍🏼 I’ve been thinking about the hypergravity comp as an addition to my personal acoustic board so it would be nice to know!

      Hi Antti! I use a custom preset, which I edited myself - I wanted a nice bus compression vibe (30ms attack, 100ms release), plus the mids needed to be controlled. The louder I play, the more they start to dominate the overall tone of the magnetic pickup. Bass and treble regions are compressed with 4:1 ratio, mids are 8:1. I'm still looking into the perfect blend and knee -settings. Hope this helps, good luck!

      petterisariola: Actually, I might still be interested in the different frequency bands/regions you have decided to use for the multiband comp. So what do you consider to be your bass, mid and treble bands?
