"What" we're heartbroken and her other answer was I've done grieving time to move on.... yes it was a interview I heard and was shocked as was the reporter... yes she had a drug addiction that her brother Prince payed for rehabilitation and other things to help her....
I agree with you. Tyka doesn’t seem to speak that fondly of her brother when given the opportunity to speak about him. It’s weird. Maybe they didn’t have a good relationship. I have heard it said that he put her in rehab & paid for her to get sober. Everyone knows how sibling relationships can be...very complicated. It makes me sad that she didn’t seem to have genuine grief when he died (she may have in private but she sure kept it well hidden) and she even came out to the fans as we have seen in the clips, & said “go home, don’t be sad...don’t stay out here in the rain” or something like that. People were pretty surprised. She does not seem that bright to me. Should’ve AT LEAST had a sweet heartfelt prepared message for the mourners. Now I see why they weren’t close...or didn’t seem to be.

This interview is very informative and insightful, and satisfies some of my musical curiosities. Its especially nice to see P kept his Gibson L-6(the leopard print guitar to the far right), his primary axe from back when he first signed with Warner Brothers during the late 1970s. And I believe that story to be true, as he was notoriously well-known for throwing his instruments either to a stagehand, a bodyguard, or to no one at all, during his performances. You may recall him throwing his beloved Hohner guitar over his head after playing that blistering solo on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' at his R&R HOF induction. Or more infamously during his 2013 appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, when he took an extremely rare and expensive electric guitar that he'd borrowed from 'Captain' Kirk Douglas of the Roots crew for his performance, threw it up into the air, then casually walked off stage, letting the guitar crash into the ground and break into several pieces. In retrospect I can't help but wonder if P's indifferent recklessness with musical instruments during his later years was due in part to his then secret-but-steadily increasing dependence on painkillers like the Fentanyl; the opioid that ultimately took his life. A tragic loss.
What a waste, if you clicked that title expecting to gain any guitar insight, or get a good look at any of P's guitars. Barely anything to do with guitars. Where's his iconic Hohner guitar? Misleading title.
Honestly, if you want to know about his guitars...go to Paisley Park Museum or go on line and buy the official Paisley Park Guitar Book of all the instruments he played or just go to Paisley Park. I love seeing stories about him and I love when Tyka shares stories of his other sibling sisters and the people who were honored to work for him. Just saying :)

This was a great interview Tyka shared personal side of Prince, who knew he was quite the talker..lol. Didn't know she worked for Prince either, interesting. She must be tired of people asking about Prince's death and what she knew, i know she is putting on a brave face and trying to make light of it but the pain and the hurt of losing Prince is still there and is raw. Well obviously Prince felt himself feeling certain ways, im sure. Weakness, fatigue, shortness of breath and all the aches and pains that's excruciatingly crippling him. And sometimes you can see death..especially just a slow death approaching someone who you know, or who you've known for yrs, and their appearance and demeanor is or has drastically changed. The eyes are the windows to the soul sometimes.
No his time was up, Vanity died on the anniversary of his mother death.. Then he dies 2months later.. Prince made a deal with something you'll never understand.. He sings about it in darling Nikki..
MARILYN MARVIN k heard the story about his first guitar which went up for auction but it wasn't the I wanna be your lover guitar but that was back in the 70s so he probably did pay that much for it
On one hand, she seems like a down to earth kind person. On the other hand, it seems so callous when she makes comments that she knew 3 years beforehand that he would die. That she called family and told them he would be dying soon (separate interview and he died 3 years after that) and that she bought a necklace when she thought he was dying because she 'wanted to look nice for the funeral'. I don't know her experience with him but I would rush to my brother's side if I thought he was dying.
I think you may not understand. There was an understanding they had. when prince told her it wasn’t like he was dying from a disease but that his work was coming to an end and the deal was near completion. Watch the bob Dylan interview on 60 minutes a lot of these rockstars make spiritual covenants or deals or bargains to make it where they make it and they usually always know when the time is coming for their end.

Going on three years and if I don't personally know Tyka I refrain from trashing her. I read the 233 pages of his death investigation . If anything I feel that they did not follow the money and the drugs he allegedly took on the plane and in his home were not traceable so Carver County quit. They dropped the ball without driving deeper into the money . Tyka may be genuine or not but it's certainly not for me to judge because I don't know her as a friend . I can only go by what I do know . I pray the truth comes to light as it seems fishy even though he did appear very frail in the end . Having yes men around can make anything worse . God let him Rest In Peace and let us pray the truth comes out. Whatever it may be . For now I accept that she runs the show and keeps his legacy alive even if this means she financially gains , she also has a whole lot of financial issues that I don't think she was prepared for and Prince must have known this. The absence of a will whether foul play or true is now behind us for now and all I can do is wait and see if this is just how it goes and no one digs and really finds out what happened . I still think something doesn't add up. Yet I won't point fingers till there are facts. Just glad I was here when he was and will continue to enjoy his music .
Good take. I read the full Carver County Investigation as well. I'm appalled to see non family sit here and think they have some type of say in Prince's family affairs. They should gain from his inheritance and not all the people out here selling his likeness and have made money on his image since his death. WHO ARE YOU? You actually owe his family for what you have stolen if you did that. They are doing a great job and I'm happy when I support Paisley and all the Prince artist that are paying homage to them. Now that the Graceland Management contract is over; the family is more hands on and doing more great things as they promised.

I kind of feel like the family is getting screwed because the estate is still not settled and they haven't received any money while the bank & attorneys are draining the funds. Tyka had a million dollars in legal fees hanging over her head, and her brother Omarr was kicked out of his home (I guess Prince owned it and it was being liquidated). I worry for Prince's legacy and the music he left behind.
If he was dying and she knew he was dying... then she should tell the fans...she owes us at least that much. There are people that believe he was murdered, and they are fighting for justice. But the book clearly wasn't like that at all, there were so many iconic guitars missing and in their place were instruments which according to the book itself "Prince never played" - Where was the Dave Rusan made Cloud, the REAL one, not the Schecter Diamond series one that's in the book? - Why weren't the Sadowsky made telecasters Prince used during the "Parade" tour in the book? - Where was the Habibe? The Purple Floyd Rose equipped O(-> shaped guitar? Are you kidding me? Tyka, if you're reading this, re-do that book and get in touch with your brother's former roadies and guitar techs, detail is what counts here.

Maddie and John tikka mother but the prince did not have a close relations with them try working with them in the studio but nothing really took flight and that was for a good cause especially been in and out of rehabs and using substance really bad and was trying to steal and break everything that they had in the other house of growing up before Prince became famous and when he gave became famous started using more and more drugs. And all the problems and headaches people have been arguing and coming out the woodwork that he haven't even been in contact with from April 21st 2016 to 20/20 Prince did not leave anything to anyone he had everything under control the way he wanted his estate to be ran which is on lockdown

I flew over to London for the Prince Exhibition and visit Paisley events and Prince Minnesota events about 15-20 different times a year from out of state. Paisley is doing just fine!

What happened to the body of the L6 there... looks like a bit of the wood where the body and neck connect has been removed.

I think you may not understand. There was an understanding they had. when prince told her it wasn’t like he was dying from a disease but that his work was coming to an end and the deal was near completion. Watch the bob Dylan interview on 60 minutes a lot of these rockstars make spiritual covenants or deals or bargains to make it where they make it and they usually always know when the time is coming for their end.

Going on three years and if I don't personally know Tyka I refrain from trashing her. I read the 233 pages of his death investigation . If anything I feel that they did not follow the money and the drugs he allegedly took on the plane and in his home were not traceable so Carver County quit. They dropped the ball without driving deeper into the money . Tyka may be genuine or not but it's certainly not for me to judge because I don't know her as a friend . I can only go by what I do know . I pray the truth comes to light as it seems fishy even though he did appear very frail in the end . Having yes men around can make anything worse . God let him Rest In Peace and let us pray the truth comes out. Whatever it may be . For now I accept that she runs the show and keeps his legacy alive even if this means she financially gains , she also has a whole lot of financial issues that I don't think she was prepared for and Prince must have known this. The absence of a will whether foul play or true is now behind us for now and all I can do is wait and see if this is just how it goes and no one digs and really finds out what happened . I still think something doesn't add up. Yet I won't point fingers till there are facts. Just glad I was here when he was and will continue to enjoy his music .
Good take. I read the full Carver County Investigation as well. I'm appalled to see non family sit here and think they have some type of say in Prince's family affairs. They should gain from his inheritance and not all the people out here selling his likeness and have made money on his image since his death. WHO ARE YOU? I kind of feel like the family is getting screwed because the estate is still not settled and they haven't received any money while the bank & attorneys are draining the funds. But the book clearly wasn't like that at all, there were so many iconic guitars missing and in their place were instruments which according to the book itself "Prince never played"

And all the problems and headaches people have been arguing and coming out the woodwork that he haven't even been in contact with from April 21st 2016 to 20/20 Prince did not leave anything to anyone he had everything under control the way he wanted his estate to be ran which is on lockdown

I flew over to London for the Prince Exhibition and visit Paisley events and Prince Minnesota events about 15-20 different times a year from out of state. Paisley is doing just fine!
