    lucky that you got to meet this man, he's a pioneer in natural bonsai. Also check out Walt Pall another great natural bonsai grower

    Dan mentions fertilizing with Miracle Grow, is this before or after candling?

      I would fertilize from the beginning of the grow season (early spring), up to the time of decandling. Stop fertilization after decandle. Then start fertilization again when candle grow stops (mid to late fall), til the end of the season.

    But not all pine will set a 2. Flush of growth? So only candles On them?

      I think you are right. Only decandle Japanese Black Pine and Japanese Red Pine. Don’t decandle Japanese White Pine and most of the other pines.
