    There was a time where Chris said the 953 was gonna be his farm machine and I thought that was a shame as it’s such a nice running machine!! Now it earning its keep! It’s doing well at that also!!

      Actually, thinking about it; there must be a trade-off of some kind. Perhaps a drop in wheel torque/push.

      I think going to a high flow set up would need to have larger diameter tubing and pipes installed. Replacing the hard lines that run through the chassis might require removal if a lot of parts. I am not any kind of a mechanic on these so an education is in order.

    Chris a major point of failure on these 953As is the track bar caps. Make it a habit to grease them often and check and make sure the bolts are tight and there is no gap between the bar and cap. I just finished rebuilding one that the bolts had backed off on and they had been snapped by the pressure of it slamming back and forth.

    Hey Chris. When loading over into the bed of a truck or trailer. Have you tried opening the clam to dump the bucket instead of uncurling it down into the bed. Would that give you more control over the sides and be less likely of hitting the walls of the bed with the lift of the boom risers or the teeth of the bucket?

    So the Cat 953 is more like a wheel loader with tracks, unlike the John Deere 455G which looks like a dozer with a loader bucket. Does the Cat have the same characteristics as the wheel loader or does it perform more like a dozer? Is the pushing abilities and center of gravity more like a loader or a dozer? Or does it have its own unique characteristics? I am just curious.

    • @michaelowen1750
      @michaelowen1750 Год назад +3

      The newer Cat Loaders with the rear mounted engine are balanced different than the older style front end engine machines. When the bucket is empty, most of the weight is on the back half of the track frame- this lets the front slide better when turning, but when the bucket is full, the front half of the track frame is carrying the weight, so the rear slides easier.. if you watch a front engine machine, when it turns , it makes a pile of dirt with the tracks, loaded bucket or not.. and because it needs a counterweight on the rear, the front engine machines are generally heavier for their Hp... The newer Hystat machines push just as good as the similar sized dozer if the tracks are in good shape.. Before the hydraulics were optimized in excavators, a track loader would out clear a dozer or an excavator... However, take a new similar Hp excavator as that loader and its completely different, and loading the trucks is much more efficient as teh excavator sits and spins on a bearing...
