I'd love for the origin and basis of Sentry's powers to be better explained or altered. E.g. mutant (op marvel character often chalked up as mutant) or either channel/possess an aspect of cosmic entity - void=oblivion, sentry=some + entity like eternity/infinity/phoenix.
Or something like one of the abstracts condensed into someone. Not sure that would make so much sense to chalk up to a formula so maybe you'd just have to retcon that as something bob made up in his mind.
My personal theory is that the Serum opened him up to something from the Beyond that gives him his Power. It would explain why he's so much stronger than most beings.
Wasn't the memory wipe done in multiple phases where it was he wiped their mind > the machine wiped it > Dr. Strange was controlling his memory in a vegetable/coma, so he was basically 3 "dreams" inside as a fail safe against The Void?

Sentry is a very cool character, but is so op-ed that it is hard to write a good story about him.. its brian micheal bendis. My favorite Marvel Supermen are 1.) Hyperion (Jonathan Hickman version) 2.) Sentry 3.) Blue Marvel 4.) Gladiator
Blue marvel is nowhere near superman. Otherwise you may as well say thor is too cause besides the usual powers that namor had before them all, everything about Adam is different
I like Hyperion the best of the Superman copycats but the rest are cool to but the sad thing is Hyperion like Superman has been taking nose dives for the others to make them look good he would otherwise have the power to beat.
A few years back when Norman Osborn was running the Thunderbolts and had Sentry on the team, it was hilarious because the villains on the team were all paranoid about the Sentry going nuts on them one day.
@@thecorruptversion he's a Marvel version of Superman. Its how companies capitalize on the popularity of other characters. They remake them with a little difference to not infringe on copyright.
Sentry is a good laugh on a night out!! He was out with myself , Mr Stark and rest of Avengers and drunk the Hulk under the table, and also beat Galactus at arm wrestling!!
Imo the best way to do it is to have him come out of hiding during the 5 year timeskip. Preforming small acts of heroism & running off, conceiling himself in a long robe so ppl dont see him. It can be explained that the reason he chooses NOT to go to the endgame battle(even tho he couldve saved/healed tony) was because after his seperation with his wife, his mind is unstable. Not only does being around large groups of ppl TERRIFY him, but hes developed a lust for battle. If he gets too deep into it, he'll lose control and VOID will come out. Id have 1 of the 1st heroes he meets be Spidey, via stopping a billboard from falling on ppl when peter isnt fast enough. Peter tracks him down via spider sense and the 2 talk. With sentry being surprised peter was able to keep up with him. Peter spends his time bonding with sentry, bringing him burgers and books, and gets to know him, learning about what happened with him and his wife, and resigns himself to play match maker and get the 2 back together. Sentry cleans himself up and with some help from spidey, Sentry is eventually a married man again. Id have things eventually go bad as spidey not being there for him as peter would have his own issues, leads to sentry fighting the avengers, who view him as a monster, and in the end, we get Cosmic Spidey vs Sentry/Void. The dichitomy between them is that while Peter himself has been called the same, he always pushed himself away from that title, while Sentry found himself unable to lean on his friends for support like peter did. In Peters lowest moments, he had others to lift him bavk up, Sentry lost that, and was alone with his thoughts, allowing void to turn him. With Peter fighting his friend to stop him. And having to erase the memories of his existence, AND destroying Roberts powers to prevent this from happening again. My bad for the essay☠
@The Fallen Much appreciated😁 It was longer but i tried to abridge it. The idea was me splitting it into movies and disney+ shows. Having it kinda build up over the years. Its supposed to be over a long time so its a lot but i tried shortening it😁
I remember reading Bendis and his run on Daredevil and Powers and how great it was. I feel like ultimately his workaholic nature just diminished his quality so much. The guy was writing a ridiculous amount of content. Between that and the fact that he has like... three different personalities that he tends to recycle in characters makes him pretty unreadable after a time.
Moonknight got a nemesis as well as a renewed relationship with his ex. Rob I think you might not want to skip on the current Moonknight run…or the previous one…
Rob he was fighting World War Hulk not World Breaker Hulk. World Breaker only showed up at the very end of that series when his footfalls almost destroyed the East Coast.
Correction - the sentry’s strength feats put him in the same class as Hulk & Thor. Technically both Hulk & Thor have better strength feats. I think a more accurate statement is that he has matched/defeated both Hulk & Thor. However, he himself was only able to stalemate WW Hulk, it was the Void who broke all the Hulks bones with those black tendrils. He was only able to defeat Thor AFTER Thor killed him and he was resurrected by the Apocalypse twins via the Death Seed, which gave him an enormous power amp. Also, while he was rumored to have stalemated Galactus off panel Thor KILLED a fully fed Galactus who had just fed on special planets that charged him up more than EVER before. After killing Galactus ,Thor then went on to kill the Black Winter (G-man’s creator) by using Galactus’ “death throws” as a bomb….so yea there’s that…
@The Fallen severely weaker versions of Thor. So, not the same. Knull beat sentry soooooo bad, the void was a mere aspect of Knull. Lol Matter a fact, This version of Thor fought a Knull that absorbed “The void”…. So…. Take that fact however you’d like.
@@Draeguy unfortunately for Sentry, yes that’s exactly what happened. He did one shot a few symbiote-Celestials right before it happened tho… Thor went on to literally knock Knull’s lower jaw completely off his face. Thor’s divine lightning is one of the few things Knull is weak against, yet the writers had him stick to melee attacks only. I guess they didn’t want Thor stealing Venom’s “thunder” (pun intended) by single-handedly defeating Knull. He, Thor, (especially that version) def had the power and tools to do it lol
But sentry has defeated Thor and Hulk numerous times they aren't equals. And your wrong about Thor sentry has beaten Thor every single encounter and even in siege Thor was only able to kill Sentry because Robert allowed it Bendis confirms this in an interview, No the Death seed only removed Sentry's mental limiters that was stated by sentry himself and Thor was super amped by the power cosmic and Odin force when he killed Galactus you make it seem as if it was regular Thor.
It'd be an incredible fight, but Sentry is just too much for Mark tbh. From telepathy to molecular manipulation to resurrection, there's just too many abilities for Hyperion to handle.

The original Dark Knights Sentry is legit one of the best series and stories ever to appear in comics. I almost wish they stopped writing his character after that.
It really is an iconic run. I don't think they should've stopped, but they should've been much more careful with him. Like his mind, he's a fragile character to work with. @@justified_wrath_21 I want to believe Blue Marvel could push his limits to the breaking point out in deepspace and obviously out smart Hype which probably wouldn't take much....🍻

Then Miek stabbed Rick and admitted to hulk that he detonated hulks ship killing his wife. Hulk THEN goes full world breaker emitting gamma radiation and causing earthquakes with his steps, begging for someone to stop him before he broke the world
You were wrong in this video about his fight with galactus being off panel. In the sentry mini which is 5 episodes long when Reed Richards is telling the potential story of the sentry (franklin is a huge sentry fan) you find out that the sentry along with x-man fought galactus and made him split. I'd still argue that Sentry alone can do it, and what happened to him vs Knull was all the excuse that marvel needed to rid himself of the character, that's why I stopped reading marvel comics. They upgrade the characters they like and kill off the rest. Look at Thor for instance, next upgrade is gonna be he's actually the son of the one above all just how we recently found out his actually the son of Odin and the Phoenix force and not Gaia.
I'm a thor fan but I think that TOAA bit makes zero sense but it would be par for the course since hulk is apparently a doorway for God's opposite. Sentry doesn't need an upgrade but he's a good character. Kinda of a waste to throw him away.

100% not
They can't do him justice lol
They don't really do anyone justice
Another super strong white dude? Disney cant handle it. Hahaha
@@faustomadebr Agreed. He is not “non-binary, trans, blah blah blah.” Heck, you won’t see Blue Marvel either for the same reason… mostly.
He always reminds me of Miracleman / Marvelman… such a strange backstory for such a powerful character.
Paul Jenkins got inspiration from miracle man
@@cheeseburgerfreddy6350 that makes a lot of since now that I think about it.
That's where Bob got his inspiration. He only has vague similarities to Superman contrary to what a lot of people say
Beyond Omega Level: Mandrakk the Dark Monitor (DC)
Been almost a year right?
I second this
We banded together for Empty Hand lets do it for Mandrakk
No one cares about Mandrakk the Dark monitor! Get over it already!!!
I think he did one on him already
Sentry is the Superman of Marvel, definitely need a movie on him I just hope marvel don’t ruin him
Wasn't the memory wipe done in multiple phases where it was he wiped their mind > the machine wiped it > Dr. Strange was controlling his memory in a vegetable/coma, so he was basically 3 "dreams" inside as a fail safe against The Void?
Yasss. He did stalemate a full powered Galactus confirmed by Jenkins the writer himself on Twitter. Good video.
Did he say full powered Galactus or did he just say galactus?
@@cheeseburgerfreddy6350 full powered. He acknowledged the question (did sentry really stalemate a fully powered Galactus at peak level?) and said that’s the way we presented it, so it was full powered Galactus.
he has more anti feats than good feats, one op feat doesnt make him on the level of a fully fed galactus LMAO
@@ziblackingbestww444 opposite. He has way more OP fears than anti feats. But the writings are just not as good as they could be
@@ziblackingbestww444 Then you're in denial bud
Seriously, it seems it would be easier to make a video of what sentry can’t do. I would actually like to see the sentry challenge one of the cosmic entities.
Edit: just got to the part in the video where Rob said he fought galactus. Geesh…
I wanna see a flashback of Sentry and Galactus's stalemate.
Their is a Comic character that's like the Sentry called The Plutonian.
You should definitely do a video of him
Definitely.....
I remember when Rob first introduced me to the Sentry back in 2013 on Marvel explained.
I found out about this character not the long ago and he’s quickly become one of my top marvel characters. idk why some people think he’s just “marvels superman” because he’s nothing close to that in my opinion I think his character has so much potential. He’s a completely unique character and in a way a more interesting take on a “superman” power level character. The conflict between Sentry and The Void is so exciting he feels like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode with so much power. I can totally see his character making his way into the MCU if they get his arc right we could see a Sentry that joins the MCU as a hero but overtime we slowly start seeing the war between being Sentry and The Void favor The Void and he could be the next big bad in the MCU.
Finally! I was waiting for this for so long. The most underrated character ever. Yet one of the most powerful one.
Hey, I just wanted to say that I've been writing and drawing my own comic including the Sentry, Molecule Man, Dylan Brock, Reed and Franklin Richards. And all thanks to you and the love for comics you have passed on to me.
I must definitely see that, please 🙏🏼
If I can somehow contact you then give me this opportunity...maybe through Discord?
Sentry, Molecule Man and Franklin Richards are my all-time favorite characters in fiction.
Not much for the underdogs are you? Just saying that you're going for godlike and not much in the way of identifiable characters, not ones that we mere mortals can identify with anyway.
Oh man, I was looking for more on the fusion between the Void and Sentry. That is truly an unstoppable force
Weren't we all. Donny Cates had to go and ruin the Character though smh
Her after the thunderbolts announcement
me
And now we have Sentry coming to Thunderbolts in 2025!
Love the Sentry/Void. Always cool seeing a video for him
So Sentry is like Superman & Moon Knight is like Batman with both Sentry & MK having serious psychological difficulties. Dangerous.
WIsh the merged sentry storyline actually went somewhere. Had an awesome setup where he was finally whole, sane, and in control. Next time, he's doing some crazy stuff again in a farm town and can't control himself at all. Wasted potential.
Blame Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman. Ryan at least admitted they failed, but there's been nothing from Donny. They literally were ignorant to all of that, and to how his powers work.
The sentry is a favorite of mine as well. The Power of a Million Exploding Suns is an iconic phrase. Wish he was back.
Thanks for that, Rob! I really really love this character! He sounds very interesting. I think I’m going to start reading this comic book. So, thanks again!
There’s just no point in characters being this strong. It never matters.
The sentry has been used by marvel as a back door for basically every situation possible for the last 20 years wfym
That's cap. You don't know much about psychological thrillers do you?
@@ericwalsh2954 knull
He can also be the weakest if his mental state is destroyed, he is the most unstable person anyways
You forgot to mention his fight against Blue Marvel which ended in a standstill
Finally a video on the sentry. Can u please do a video on icon (Augustus Freeman) from dc
Glad to see you're finally covering The Sentry. Extremely too OP for the MCU
can’t believe he hasn’t been in the series yet either
Who's here after the Thunderbolts trailer to see who Bob is?
i honestly thought you had done the sentry before.. i swear ive seen you do his history before. always down to watch it again
Rob for the love of God please do Gladiator. I mean the man kicked Mjolnir over a flying airplane then knocked Thor out. For STARTERS.
Can we get a 1-hour deep dive on sentry? I could go for it on this long a** weekend
Rob can you do a beyond omega level: the Void. He may be even more op than The Sentry.
But..... they're the same guy lol
I’m so happy I was able to catch one of your videos the same day it came out I’m always usually so busy I never even see the notification when their posted but I caught this one great job and plz keep it up Rob 👍🏾
Now the real question. How would Sentry fare against Squirrel Girl? 😆
He’s ripping her a new asshole
That is actually a fine question.
That depends. Is it World Braking Squirrel Girl, Queen Squirrel Girl or Squirrel Girl One Billion. LOL.
YES! MORE SENTRY. I LOVE your old narrations.
Sentry is a very cool character, but is so op-ed that it is hard to write a good story about him.. its brian micheal bendis.
My favorite Marvel Supermen are
1.) Hyperion (Jonathan Hickman version)
2.) Sentry
3.) Blue Marvel
4.) Gladiator
Sentry isn’t really a Superman tho his powers are vastly different. The only things that’s similar is their super strength and speed and their costume
Possibly my favorite Superman clone.
What makes him a clone? can't understand these comments
@@thecorruptversion he's a Marvel version of Superman. Its how companies capitalize on the popularity of other characters. They remake them with a little difference to not infringe on copyright.
@@Jaytrocioushe is barely similar to superman it’s honestly just the costume Hyperion is the real copy
Awesome Sauce! 😎 Thanks for covering one of my absolute favorite (But often times poorly written) Comicbook characters!
Came here after the Thunderbolts Trailer!!!😊
Sentry is a good laugh on a night out!!
He was out with myself , Mr Stark and rest of Avengers and drunk the Hulk under the table, and also beat Galactus at arm wrestling!!
I'd love to see Beyond Omega Level: Moondragon🌙🐉
IN the past, yes....Royal bloodline, pre-G.O.T.G era.
We need a Sentry movie
Also, I feel it's more appropriate to call them inspired rather than knock offs.
Anyone else having Mandela Effect and remembering a previous Beyond Omega Level on the Sentry?
I like how Rob hand waves away the weird or stupid aspects of Sentry history with it was Bendis
I'd love to see Sentry in the MCU. Maybe in Multiverse of madness
Id have things eventually go bad as spidey not being there for him as peter would have his own issues, leads to sentry fighting the avengers, who view him as a monster, and in the end, we get
Cosmic Spidey vs Sentry/Void.
@The Fallen
Much appreciated😁
It was longer but i tried to abridge it. The idea was me splitting it into movies and disney+ shows. Having it kinda build up over the years. Its supposed to be over a long time so its a lot but i tried shortening it😁
They'd show Hyperion or Blue Marvel before Sentry. Especially Hyperion since every version of him is from another reality anyway
That would make zero sense
@Proxima and it’s good that they did.
I own two different cover variants of Sentry #1. Don't think Disney could ever do him justice on the silverscreen.
Beyond Omega Level: Icon (DC Milestone Comics)
Moonknight got a nemesis as well as a renewed relationship with his ex. Rob I think you might not want to skip on the current Moonknight run…or the previous one…
This dude is a FORCE. He might be the king of the four super hero men
What does it mean "Molecules are moved to the next timeline"? That's apparently what the serum does to Sentry.
It's never fully explained
That's just one of the explanations. Dude's like The Joker when it comes to his origin.
Lmao @ the Molecule Man side note 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂
In other words superman can't mess with him
Rob he was fighting World War Hulk not World Breaker Hulk. World Breaker only showed up at the very end of that series when his footfalls almost destroyed the East Coast.
He's not once called WWH it's always been world breaker Hulk or green scar
After killing Galactus ,Thor then went on to kill the Black Winter (G-man’s creator) by using Galactus’ “death throws” as a bomb….so yea there’s that…
@The Fallen Hell yea! Now That would be epic.
Didn’t sentry get one shot by Knull, while Thor stood his ground vs that same Knull?
@The Fallen severely weaker versions of Thor. So, not the same. Knull beat sentry soooooo bad, the void was a mere aspect of Knull. Lol
Matter a fact, This version of Thor fought a Knull that absorbed “The void”…. So…. Take that fact however you’d like.
@@Draeguy unfortunately for Sentry, yes that’s exactly what happened. He did one shot a few symbiote-Celestials right before it happened tho…
Thor went on to literally knock Knull’s lower jaw completely off his face.
I been hoping for this for over two years! Thank you Rob!
Who's here after The Thunderbolts trailer?
The fact you have such a nitpicky fanbase is a testament to the amount of knowledge you have Rob 😊
He Deserves a Disney+ show or a movie. ASAP.
Thunderbolts
Beyond omega plutonian . Very underrated
Have Sentry and Hyperion ever gone at it? I like them both but I REALLY like Hyperion. Would be keen to know who would win
As much as I'd like hyperion to come out on top, I'd still have to give it to sentry since his powers go beyond strength.
It'd be an incredible fight, but Sentry is just too much for Mark tbh. From telepathy to molecular manipulation to resurrection, there's just too many abilities for Hyperion to handle.
Dam u guys really know ur stuff... imo sentry has the best all around abilities... hes got a little bit of everything. People disrespect sentry, like oh hes not strong enough... DUDE SENTRY can phase threw objects, manipulate matter on a subatomic level, a telepath, telekinesis, reconstruct himself from a single atom. Sentry is like the MOST OP hero before u go up to characters that can manipulate reality.
@@vangxiong9643 haha, sorry about that, I actually really like Sentry but thought it'd be cool to see who'd win if they biffed each other. Didn't mean to rag on him/disrespect him :)
The Sentry... BEYOND omega level? That's an understatement.
I know you generally dont do 'versus' jobs, but, Sentry v Blue Marvel v King Hyperion v Gladiator ?
Gladiator is inferior to the rest. All of them are bruisers, but I think Blue Marvel is the best fighter amongst the other 3.
Sentry wins Gladiator tried stopping sentry and couldn't even hold him in place needing the help of multiple cosmic heroes just to hold him temporarily
Sentry above them all no doubt. Not even a debate in terms of feats.
@@chirazi Really that's a funny conclusion? Even when BM sent the combined Sentry and Mighty Avengers packing by himself?
Also according to Marvel the Sentry, BM and KH are equals while Gladiator is beneath them. Heck if you want to go by feats I'd say Gladiator has them beat in that department(and that's even if we don't include KH's monstrous feats from the Exiles comics).
@@alissa6 They aren't equals at all and again Sentry literally told the Avengers to stay out of it as he fought BM and mind you Sentry was weakened when he fought BM and still won the fight, KH lost to BM so they aren't equals either.
Right on. You have touched on the sentry before but i wanted this
Knowing how much energy he gives off, what do you say about the capabilities of what Vulcan (Summers brother) would do to him if they met?
they're both weakling.... under KNULL
@@enigma5014 don't forget. Knull was juiced by his Symbiote Armor, Allblack, and the body of the Celestial Knowhere harnessing souls in a pseudo afterlife when he killed Sentry. He was untouchable until Jane Foster severed the connection between the Celestial and Knull. If it was just Knull vs Sentry, Knull would definitely lose. It was also hinted that Sentry could've killed him in the Thunderbolts tie in. Plus Donny Cates literally thinks Sentry is just Hyperion in Yellow, and that Void is a Symbiote-esque being.
If it came down to it he'd just do what he did to Molecule Man, but I think Vulcan would end up like Absorbing Man if he tried to drain him. There's not really a limit to how much energy Sentry has since he's a reality warper.
@@wulaeofthetengu8336 you're dillusional 🤣🤣🤣 with your excuses and reason . KNULL is out of sentry league
Sentry would 1 shot him
About time you covered him.....beyond omega level👍👍
Love this guy, although the Fanboys that keep putting him against Superman is annoying Af.
I get the comparisons though, fight wise.
The original Dark Knights Sentry is legit one of the best series and stories ever to appear in comics. I almost wish they stopped writing his character after that.
It really is an iconic run. I don't think they should've stopped, but they should've been much more careful with him. Like his mind, he's a fragile character to work with. Jeff Lemire did it right, and Bendis was on the right path in Dark Avengers when he was showcasing his instability and Osborne's manipulation
I would like to see him and Hyperion go at it. If BlueMarvel can knock out the Sentry I'm sure Hyperion can do it to, I mean Hyperion pushed 2 universes apart.
mf hyperion is weak af LMAO
one universal feat doesnt put him on the same level as blue marvel or sentry, he has a lot of anti feats putting him at planetary-galaxy
Yh and then sentry come back and beat blue marvel and hyperion is weak when compared to sentry, sentry slam him like no diff pushing 2 universes apart is nothing
@@deadshot-k1f in all honesty do you think sentry could actually beat blue marvel?
@@justified_wrath_21 I want to believe Blue Marvel could push his limits to the breaking point out in deepspace and obviously out smart Hype which probably wouldn't take much....🍻
Don't forget Sentry literally came right back down and left Blue Marvel face down, a$$ up. Antimatter weakens Sentry, so a weakened Sentry beat Blue Marvel. But Antimatter also enhances the Void, so that would be an easy dub for Bob there. Hyperion would just be in over his head
Nitpick,.Sentry fought WWH(green scar/war hulk), one step down from world breaker. Once sentry and banner reverted Reynolds passed out.
The elephant in the room...I agree man. A few vital characters always get the quick shaft and job the same few teams...🍻
I'm a thor fan but I think that TOAA bit makes zero sense but it would be par for the course since hulk is apparently a doorway for God's opposite. Sentry doesn't need an upgrade but he's a good character. Kinda of a waste to throw him away.
@@torrancemoore6152 the Phoenix force upgrade they gave Thor made no sense considering everything else. The power cosmic from galactus, the godblast from Odin, the earth power from Gaia which now apparently is derived from the Phoenix force. I mean there's far more but still.
@@weaponxstrife when I said "par for the course" I meant in the case of ridiculous power amps/ retcons being trends, not that they made any sense.
