    I don't always adjust the wrong way. But when I do, I make sure I am completely off target and into the next canton.

    Friend of mine during his national service in the Guards Battalion in Austria swapped the barrel and front assembly of his drill Stg 58 (FAL) into his live fire one.
    The drill one had probably been dropped a thousand times, it reliably shot into the target of the guy to left of him.😂😂😂

    One time Mike, I was chanting to myself "Hold one and a half mil Right, one and a half mil Right" over and over. Buzzer sounds, I hold one a half Left for every shot....

      It's so effing easy to do, isn't it? Back in my target rifle days, "I lost a point cos I adjusted the wrong way for wind" was not uncommon (and in that world if you're not shooting a full score you're not sparking unless the wind conditions are atrocious).

    Just did my very first Feldschiessen Training today with my K11.
    The last time, I have shot a rifle was some twenty years ago with a Ruger Mini 14.
    I scored 32 points, which made me quite happy.
    The recoil of the K11 is quite a thing in comparison.
    Anyhow, I am super stoked.😊

    I enjoyed the video Bloke, with the scoring screen incremental adjustments to sights is a huge advantage which you used well, and an excellent score for 300m.

    I recently borrowed a rifle from a friend where the elevation dial was somehow the reverse of what I'm used to (and markings unclear), knew I had to dial down because the rifle had been used for a target downrange... and ended up dialing (very) high and hitting the dirt even further downrange 🤦‍♂
    Thankfully it wasn't for a competition shoot, but everyone sure had a good laugh when they realized I had dialed that far in the wrong direction.

    I remain immensely jealous of the shooting culture and access to live fire and decent ranges in Switzerland.
    Kind of wish the govt here in Taiwan would pull their finger out and copy the same model, all the talk of raising civilian rifle militias and with schools implementing airsoft training ranges are a start, but I miss real boollets and powder.

    • @BlokeontheRange
      @BlokeontheRange  Год назад +2

      This changes how your sight picture appears, making you less accurate, and holding off 5-10-15 cm at 300m by eye isn't at all easy with a blade, and is impossible with a ring (I use a blade though). Back in the day when people had to use the military sights they would apparently correct for wind by canting the rifle, cos this gives you enough of a degree of fine control to move the point of impact the few cm one way or the other.

      Interesting. That would make for a good video if it's windy again to tape a digital goniometer on the rifle to try that. How do you gauge the wind at that range? Is there a flag/hose?

    • @BlokeontheRange
      @BlokeontheRange  Год назад

      At Aarberg there's flags at both ends of the targets. Normally there's a flag somewhere. You're sheltered from it at the firing point though. A lot of Swiss shooters deny the effect of wind though (unless it's really windy).

    Hi! What are the purpose of the flashing cross, and the arrow on the target's screen?

    • @BlokeontheRange
      @BlokeontheRange  Год назад +4

      The flashing cross is the position of the last-fired shot and the arrow indicates the direction from the centre. The arrow is a bit redundant but it's probably a hold-over from the previous-generation LED boxes like you see in this video: ruclips.net/video/5RRG2iAMQmw/видео.html

    • @gwtpictgwtpict4214
      @gwtpictgwtpict4214 Год назад +1

      I couldn't help myself and was timing him between shots by the highly accurate method of counting one thousand, two thousand, three thousand etc. Reckon he's getting a round off every five or six seconds so let's say 10 a minute, so 600 in an hour. This does of course assume that the reloads are slick with loaded magazines being fed to him, and the Chinese in question have the decency to rock up promptly, in the same place and then stand still. HTH.
