Thanks. I have ordered the Artisan to replace my 350. The single point attachment of the platform is a good point. Jim Bell (Australia)

I bought the A350 nearly a year ago and have been pretty happy with it. Haven't bothered getting the rotary module. It doesn't feel as good as getting independent machines but then I'm in a pretty small shop so it doesn't take up a lot of space. Predominately I make boxes so the laser and cnc functions are what I use most of the time. If you were working on bigger items like furniture then I'd definitely steer clear. The unboxing and setup was first rate although I agree Luban is pretty ordinary - I wasn't even able to insert italic test for a quick laser engrave and instead had to use Inkscape.

Love the video, but just a heads up ER11 collets support up to a 1/4 inch diameter tool shank. Not the 1/8 inch diameter that you mentioned at the 1:50-ish mark. You’d have to get a different collet insert of course, but I just figured I’d let you know.

“Open5X” is an Open Source 5th Axis 3D Printer Attachment coming out. I don’t know if it has the rigidity to do cnc milling etc but yeah that is the only other option for rotary really so that is a nice feature!

10:18 Yeah, Enclosure (Which imo is kind of required for the laser) + Rotary + Main Machine is quite expensive.
I don’t know where i stand on it. From what I’ve seen it’s a good machine. I also love the modular design, and sealed parts with rugged cables.
My main complaint is that it’s not open source, granted they have fears of copycats i guess? Maybe they could do something like open source the last generation each time they make a new one?
I’m excited to see the one in it’s printing, because a locked down extruder/nozzle ecosystem is a concern i have not knowing much about this.
Also selling “toolplates” so you could make a drag knife (or knife + servos for turning with the cut), or marker, or even EDM module would be really cool. I think one channel has made their own pen holder for the snapmaker. Open Sourcing the standard could help toolhead development too.
I guess in conclusion if they could open source it, and/or get the cost of the rotary+enclosure+machine down to maybe 1,000-1,500 USD or so it would be top tier of “first 3d printer” category, not just “best all in one machine”! But as of now that all in one aspect is it’s only real plus i guess.

Zeroing for a finish pass on the rotary module is such a hassle. Between that, trying to work around software bugs, and having linear modules fail within the first few months... I wish I hadn't bought it at all.

It looks beautiful and works well. However for the cost it needs to work better, be more stable and more customizable. If this setup was say $1200 it would be a no brainer.

I just bought a Rotary unit and it was $600... My A350 was $1200 at micro center, and the most recent sale had even lower prices... Where are you getting $2400 for a modular printer attachment? The biggest draw back is the price? Really? Do you have an example of either a better machine that does all 3 functionalities within the same volume, or 3 machines that are cheaper IN TOTAL, AND better. Gl

The “IndyMill” is an Open Source alternative to thise 3018/3020 Machines, may be worth a look/mention too.

After messing around with the 3018 cnc machines for a few years I feel the Snapmaker would just be a disappointment, at that price I think you could buy a good laser, router and 3d printer but that 4th axis is a difficult one to cover.. I have a Millright Mega V XXL that came with a 4th axis and for $2300 you can buy the Mega V with a 4th and mill Aluminium..
The Snapmaker is an intresting machine but I feel that bed is just letting it down

I got the machine and tried every module. And I can only say it sucks. I got like 400$ Single use machines that get better results. (3D Printer/Laser/Small CNC) I was fooled by the sturdy design and the idea to only have to have one machine at hand for my projects. If I could I would refund it imitdiatly. The 3D Printer is slow as F.. The CNC cant even cut a small juwlery box without skipping and the "old" Laser moduler is also really really bad. The Photo feature cant even get a proper picture and after month of wating for an update to fix the abd module with an software update the release a new one for 400 bucks. Jeez. I really wanted to love the machine but i just cant.

It's good! You are pretty tied to their ecosystem but it's nice.
