He is the best sharpest brain in the business today but a big glaring dark spot for the gay community. Also the way he thrives on gossip and creates misunderstandings within the industry through his talk show is cheap entertainment for us but there are actual people that suffer due to that. He has no compassion for fellow directors and loves to see them fail, openly admitted by him, but not so directly. He cashes in on his sexuality but has done nothing substantial for the community despite having the resources for it. He capitalises on nostalgia and nepotism to stay relevant. There cannot be a more double faced (covers it up by calling it a gemini trait), insecure, brainy, shrewd businessman in the history of Bollywood. Movie mafia for a reason. I want that he gets all the Karma that he deserves for all the behind the scenes stuff that he may have pulled that we dont know of and most of the insensitivity that he has shown openly to his fellow industry friends and most of the times to outsiders.
It's intelligent of him to cover up his nepotistic practices by calling it natural and saying that it happens everywhere but the real issue is that you can't bully outsiders to promote your untalented favorites. It's a diversion/deflection technique to sway from the original problem at hand and appear a victim that Karan has mastered by now.
Rocky Rani was a good film no doubt and therefore I urge him to hire new writers and never write films himself that he wants to direct.

Karan is so articulate in his words. And it is nice to know that behind his snobbish and class loving persona lies a sweet, vulnerable guy with a great perspective about human relations who has seen and suffered much. No wonder he makes great movies about relationships. And no one can deny his quality of self awareness and acceptance. This being his best quality....

If Karan is reading this message I would like to tell him this -
"You are brave to accept your flaws and share your realisations on gender politics and how even you didn't know better. You have really grown and become a wise, intelligent and gorgeous human being. Your understanding of parenting and the fact that you are raising both your kids with equal treatment and that you have made movies like Bombay Talkies and that your production house has made movies like Kapoor and Sons and that you made this fulfilling movie Rocky and Rani ki Prem Kahani, speak volumes about your deeper understanding of gender and is a testament of your immense growth as a human being. After watching this interview I can say that finally you are home. Finally you are speaking your truest words with a lot of confidence. I am really happy to be able to witness this growth in you. Lots of love."
Thanks Nikhil for this amazing interview with someone who I have grown up with..I have followed his work and his interviews in the newspapers, on tv and now on social media forever. This one was amazing.

I wish you could have gone a but further on the LGBTQ on-screen representation and asked him why the big production houses (Dharma, YRF, Excel) can't do a medium budget glossy happy urban LGBTQ romance, now that Badhaai Do has already done it in the small town setting, but I understand why you couldn't push it. He did answer in his own way.

I just want to say as much as I was looking forward to KwK coming back and especially featuring my favoutite Royal couple I honestly was not expecting to go thru all the emotions of a blockbuster.. I cried all my heartaches out, I smiled and I fell in love not just with their love but also with you. (I’ve always loved u but this is a new level now; your vulnerability, honestly and how relatable you are is so touching) I don’t think you intended for the audience to experience all that but it’s all of your energy all three of u; the honesty, love, acceptance, respect and freedom to simply be genuinely human.. thanks so so so so very much for returning to the screen and for this amazing jodi.. what a launch. And yes thanks also for Rocky and Rani and massive congrats also in order.. I think this is your year and wish you many many years ahead of continued success. Much love and respect.. 🙏🏻❤️ generally love love love listening to you talk as I can relate to almost everything you feel and say and love how honest and generous you are absolutely love the sound of your voice and enjoy everything you share..

    Hate him or like him,
you can't deny this guy carved his own empire within Bollywood, you could say.
my relative, so he ran away from his family and went to Mumbai back in the 70s cause he wanted a new life. He had barely any money, and through making friends somehow managed by staying over at their places and sleeping on the floor and stuff. He hustled really hard, and after learning some skills managed to get a job as a local manager in a small company there. Mind you, our family is very academic, science-engineering oriented.
Fast forward to the 90s, he has finally got his own flat in Mumbai, but still isn't that well off and is in a lot of debt. He would sometimes walk around Bandra imagining a future life sometime as motivation, and one time he happened to come across a young, chubbier Karan Johar with some friend at a tea stall. (this was sometime after the release of DDLJ ) he watched him from a distance and saw how he spoke to his friend and the chaiwala and was amazed at how well he carried his conversation. he went up to him and asked for an autograph then, which Karan gave. that was the first time he saw someone cary themselves in conversation and charisma as well as Karan did.
and since then, he's always been a lowkey voucher for Karan. he watches him on KWK, his interviews, and since that day he's now a top-level businessmen who does deals with people in the Middle east, sitting in his house in Powai. anytime you ask him why he likes KJo, he says it's because if you want to learn good networking skills with different people in different environments, there's almost no one better than KJo. he's someone great at making sure everyone feels involved in the conversation and understands social cues.
i don't think it was just nepotism that made Karan famous, absolutely not. there were many filmmakers like his father Yash Johar, who were much more rich and successful. but their children didn't become as famous or popular.
Karan clearly learned a LOT and had his own experiences from his upbringing and childhood that shaped him into becoming the filmmaker he did.

    @diptiK24 8 месяцев назад +1

Keep it up Karan Sir!! Finally nepotism is out of conversation😊 Am happy how focussing on your well being has lead you to realize things you did wrong/could have done better on-screen wrt representation of women. I like this WIP version of you ☺

The person who celebrates their brokenness and flaunts their flaws often possesses a higher level of intelligence compared to the so-called intelligent people in society. I have never allowed the world to define 'greatness' for me in any sense of the word because the world is unintelligent to understand that one's existence is primarily determined by genetics, parenting, and social conditioning-essentially, what is called 'predestination.' I am a huge admirer of Karan Johar, and the movie 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' proved early in his career that he is a gem. The film is a classic example of first-time real love. While everything eventually wears off its novelty and ceases to be completely enjoyable, the song 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' is probably the only song I don't think I will ever find boring. It brings up so many beautiful memories of my childhood in the 90s. Sending love to Karan Johar from Pakistan! ♥♥♥

While story lines and acting are important in enjoying cinema, I must say that the physical features and the charm of the actors play a huge part in the appeal of the audience. I don't mean any disrespect to Ranveer Singh and I'm pleased Karan Johan and Indian audiences find him extraordinarily appealing on screen, but I am not enticed by him at all, to take the trouble to go to the movies, like I am when it is Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Randeep Hooda and Arjun Rampal, who are starring in them. Vicky Kaushal, also seems to appeal to many in India, but again, I don't find him alluring either. However, I am drawn to Irfan Khan(RIP), Rajkumar Rao and Ayushman Khurana, whose acting talent I do admire and enjoy. So, it's not about cancelling anyone - just preference for one kind of persona over another.

I love him and his sincerity. Also, I think he understands love. Rocky aur Rani was my favorite movie this year especially with sick movies like Animal. He is intelligent vulnerable and honest with his words.

Dear Karan and the interviewer and makers of this show, THANK YOU SO MUCH❤ THIS IS SO RELATABLE. also growing up watching KJo movies, has such an impact that his films and him feel very closed to my heart. Loved listening to him, his traumas feel so so relatable. Making me understand about myself better way... Thank you for opening up... Loads of love for that young child Karan Johar and this matured man today.... ❤❤❤

Awesome interview. I love how smart KJo is. He saying that young Rohan in K3G was himself agree with my theory. That he is the real Rohan and SRK is Rahul... in the basics of the characters ❤
