In this video I show how I build a monster sized desk for my wife and I. Both of us work from home, so we really needed a desk comfortable for two to work at. I have included lots of detail in this video and I hope you find it informative. I have a companion video of how I made the cabinet door and drawer pulls. Take a look if you are in need.

"A check-up from the neck up because my thinkin was a stinkin." I'm using this solid dad quote this week.
Haha! All the kids will know exactly what you're talking about.
Zig Zigler lives on.
Laughed out loud at the "since my work is perfect, I've never had to use these". Classic!!
Ha! Thank you.
"When I was done I was able to use the INCREDIBLE strength of my hands." Your dry humor is just as good as your woodworking sir. 🤣
Ha! Thank you.
Don't mind me over here trying to explain to myself why I NEED a lipping planer now.
Treat yo self
Thank you sir. They are a one trick pony, but really helpful for the one trick. If that makes sense.
almost all attempts at alliteration are awesome
Nice!
HAHA! Good one Scott.
This guys is a pretty good craftsman, by the video produced you can tell he pays close attention to details.
Thank you. I try to get the details correct.
The amount of Blum products in this video is euphoric!! I honestly think Blum is the only reason I don't detest making cabinets. Excellent craftsmanship as always Mike!
Ha! Thank you. I really don't like mentioning a brand like that all the time, but it is honestly what I use, I'm not getting paid for the mentions. I think with cabinet hardware, its a good idea to pick a brand and stick with it.
Your narration is so nice; you should start a channel on which you read kids' books aloud. My kids (or me?) would love it.
That is a good idea. Thank you.
When I hear you say Rebate and not rabbit… it’s so satisfying.
You are a benchmark for quality work....
Thank you very much.
Sheesh, talk about craftsmanship. What an amazing piece of work.
Thank you.
Love seeing your methods, Mike. This piece came out great. 👍
Thank you sir. Its fun to be able to share.
@10:36, true Betty Botter bought some butter, But she said the butter’s bitter, “If I put it in my batter
It will make my batter bitter, But a bit of better butter Will make my batter better.” Will Betty Boughter's bitter batter taste better? No because the better butter Betty Bitter bought was peanut butter! But the *MIGHTY* tongue twister that no one to date (that I've asked) have been able to do. Say "Toy Boat or Troy Boat" five times really fast. CAN'T BE DONE!!!
And goodness gracious your attention to detail is SECOND TO NONE! Looks beautiful!
Ha! That was great. Thank you.
I watch your videos every year or so and am always reminded of an "efficiency" or "tip" that I can apply to my hobby.
Thank you.
A couple of Zig Ziegler quotes? Wow; he was the man! Beautiful desk, btw.
Not intentionally, I hadn't heard of him until this comment. Thank you.
I love it when you talk millimeters!
Ha! Thank you.
I'm just here for the *MIGHTY* sanding disc 1:12
Ha! Thank you.
another solid method of trueing a boards edge is clamping it the sliding table saw and running it threw the blade
Thats a very good point, but in this case the pieces were longer than the stroke of the saw.
YOU ARE ONE OF THE GREATEST CRATSMAN ON YOU TUBE THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much.
Double tapper sanding disc brings a smile to my face every time I get to pull it out. What a useful tool!
That is really great to hear. Thank you.
“Since all of my work is perfect, I’ve never had to use these” …..I love this guy
Ha! Thank you.
So far in all of my years following woodworking on RUclips I have found you and the wood whisperer to have the best and funniest narrations for your videos. Your humor is spot on and gets me every time. Thanks for that.
Wow, thanks!
So refreshing to have a channel that doesn’t assume the viewers are first time woodworkers.
Thank you. I just make videos showing what I do, I try not to cater to any audience.
Absolutely superb work, as ever! Cheers Mike!
Thanks Mark.
Love the finished product, amazing work as always!
Thank you! Cheers!
You the man Mike. Always love it when I see you've uploaded a new video. Great work!
Thank you. I'll have another one out soon.
Mr. Bond I mean Farrington nice two fer with the Odd Job / Random Task movie quotes.
Ha! Both great movies in their own way.
Love watching these. Amazing work
Thank you.

Thanks, will do!
Mike, I don't know a thing about woodworking really. But your videos are so inspirational. The attention to detail and quality workmanship you put into all your products is second to none. Your passion for woodworking shows in your videos and it is very cool! Thank you for sharing your skills and expertise with us!
Wow, thanks!
Unbelievable work.. you’ve inspired me to clean
My garage.

Incredible work as always Mike, true craftsman

Beautiful work, Mike. I totally enjoy your relaxing style with some wit thrown in.
Awesome! Thank you!
Watching you working at first I found myself thinking: "so many nails and glue, where is the joinery?" But that outcome speaks for itself. Your finish is so beautiful. I am so grateful to have found you channel two years ago. So calming and inspiring at the same time. Bless you. Bless you beautiful work!
Thank you very much.

Another wonderful project. Beau travail, bravo.
Thank you.
No one does humor better than you. "I did a check up from the neck up" 😂 it's also turned out beautiful! I like the cherry top and pulls against the color you applied... they go great together! 🤟👍😃
Thank you very much.
I always find it informative and funny at the same time when you share your actual “pro tips” vs the stuff that those diy style channels think are pro tips. The desk turned out beautiful, I love the contrast of the cherry vs the paint color.
Thank you very much.
Yeah, Mike gives actual tips which help!
The desk turned out beautiful and thanks for always sharing some helpful "pro tips"!
Thank you.
As always entertaining and a beautifully crafted end product. But that aerial shot of the workshop left me with serious workshop envy!
Thank you.
your design and execution never fail to amaze me Mike. A beautiful result. Thank you
Thank you very much!
Great work station. Now teach me how to keep mine tidy!
Ha! Thats the hard part.
Yes! The B-Role King is back!
Weee!
The video is so clear, I really like the color you chose too. Well done as usual.
Thank you very much.
Love it. Great looking dual-desk, and it looks like all that sanding made that top glass-smooth.
Thank you. Yup a little buffing goes a long way.
Some great 'Pro-tips' in this video, with the end result being a terrific desk for the 2 of you. Keep up the great work.
Thank you.
Stylish and practical. Nice.
Thank you.
Always enjoy watching what you build.
I appreciate that!
@@MikeFarrington you're very welcome.
Great build, thanks for sharing.
Thank you.
Excellent video Mike, your humor gave me a chuckle. 😁👍💚🪵
Glad you enjoyed it
9:08 LOL Me Too. I actually haven't made a mistake since the last one.
I like that, I'm going to use it.
Your voiceovers are a work of art, just as much as your furniture builds. Fantastic stuff as always, Mike. 👍🏼
Thank you very much.
Drawer spacing.....the bane of my existence... love this method and how you give product tips..
Whats cool about this method is you can get the gaps as good as you want. Just depends on how much time you want to invest.
@@MikeFarrington What spacing do you generally try to get? Looks smaller than 1/8"
@@careyhenitiuk8423 I normally cut parts to a 1/16" gap, then sand/fit that takes them to 3/32 normally, but I am ok with 1/8" if thats what happens.
@@MikeFarrington Thanks for the response, and for all the videos and details you give!
Beautiful work, world HQ office for Farrington Inc. Is complete!!
Yes, it is! Well, I'm going to do a floating shelf above the desk. Then it will be done.
Looks amazing Mike! Perrrrfection!!!
since you never make a mistake lol! Man you crack me up. 🤣😂
Love the humor and the skills. Keep up the great videos. And I did watch the restoration of that drill video and I do suggest people watching it. Pretty impressive!
Thank you very much Mike. I really enjoyed redoing the drill press.
Always an incredible journey watching you work. Impressed by your power tools, more so by your hand tool skills.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for reposting this Mike.. I enjoyed my lunchbreak watching it.. love the subtle humor too.. now back to work!
Thanks Ben.
Finally! I’ve waited for another video from you. I am a huge fan of your work and your humor. You Are my Ron Pearlman!!!!
Ha! Thank you very much.
Superb work, as usual.
Thank you.
Great build and great video! Thanks for sharing. Top-tier humor as usual 🤣
Thank you.
Great to have you back in tube world. A master cabinet maker.
Thanks Frank.
Great Work as always…thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Your vision, talent, experience and humor make this a great channel!
Wow, thank you!
Another majestic piece of entertainment my friend, and awesome tips in the video!
Thank you John. Great to hear you liked it.
I knew it was high time I bought myself at least a biscuit joiner if not a Domino tool, but I didn't realise that I also needed a lipping planer - or even that they existed - so it can work out expensive following your channel! To be fair, I can think of lots of occasions when a biscuit or Domino joiner would have helped me make a much better job of a project, compared to simply using pocket screws.
Either of the two will really help out for sure.
Nice project mate! Another great video.
Thanks Allan.
The "minds eye" was a good one, laughed my socks off. Pro job sir!
Thank you.
Love the desk, great tip on using MDF for door panels. Thanks
Thank you.
Great job as always!
Thank you! Cheers!
Mike! I do have to say, you explain every step very well. Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new. Thanks nice build.
Great to hear!

The end result is precise, purposeful, and beautiful.

Thank you very much.
I love it as usual! Video production, content, tips and finished product are a gold medal performance every time!

Wow, thank you!
Beautiful and functional.
Thank you! 😊
This looks really great
Thank you.
Really great tips and tricks! I think if I see the merits of the double taper disc again, I'll have to pull the trigger and order one! Keep the great content coming.
Thank you. Let me know if you have any questions.
Excellent project Mike.

Not yet, that’s still the old one.

For sure, so much better craftsmanship and quality than the other “home-gamer” style channels.
Thank you very much. That means a lot to me.
Another Great Video, starring Mike Farrington and co-starring the Double Taper Sanding Disc. I purchased one today.
Thank you. You’re gonna love it.
Beatiful desk, great video
Thank you!
Perfect timing, I just finished re-watching all your other videos in order. And I used my new DT sanding disc today as well. Thank you for all your work.
That's awesome! Definitely quality builds.
Same here haha 👍👍
Thank you. Great to hear your getting some use out of the disc.
Love it Mike!
No music suggestion? However, you did mention Milli Vanilli. Milli Vanilli was a popular group we all listened to in the hangar when I was in USAF Tech School back in the day. The office cabinets look great. The solid wood counter is my favorite part.
Thank you very much.
