In every way this is almost the most you can get. " Abendempfindung" is a musical jewel and treated by the near perfect voice of Daniel Johannsen, it can only result in coming back to this Lied over and over again. To discover new things on every occasion or to simply enjoy this most beautiful voice, impressive and moving and no disturbing vibrato. This Lied fits him so well. From all the Lieder and arias I heard by him, so far, this one comes very close to his "Des Fischers Liebesglück" by Schubert, that I adore. The pianist Elena Larina is also doing very well (never too loud!) and how about the appropriate photograph from (I guess) abt 2006, when he sang this. Beautiful pastel shade "dreaming" picture and with the voice both 15 years back such a valuable document for later. At the age of only 28 here, he is already on the high level he has shown since. Bravo Daniel! You made a small masterpiece that brought me to tears. Again glad you used the corona pandemic for supplying your admirers through RUclips!

@@dschonnie - Like I predicted: "it can only result in coming back to this Lied over and over again", it"s like a drug almost , I nééd to hear it regularly. And it comforts me. Which of a sudden reminds me that my late mother used to listen to this Lied ; at the time sang by the famous American (though European based) soprano Teresa Stich-Randall (also on RUclips , see provider Liederoperagreatsoftheworld)(please: do listen!!) , who lived from 1927-2007. She sang this on record in 1961, when she was about 33 years of age, compare 28 with Daniel. I hate (on RUclips) the eternal comparing from one singer to another, but in this exceptional case it is permitted. If you use different versions (male/female) and in time (1961/2006, so 45 years on), then listening to various singers becomes a great pleasure. There is NO competition, there is ONLY the Art of Music that we can enjoy. And I enjoy them both thoroughly. There are many flowers in the field. Each with their own beauty. Singers make my life. What would I do without them?
