When I used to work 12 hour shifts back to back (at night), I used to snack during my entire shift and not eat at all when I'd get home. I ended up losing about 12 pounds doing that. 😊
As someone that has been in a hospital and has stayed there a lot I can say that I’m actually really thankful for the night shift nurses ( here it’s from 6-6). I’m technically still a pediatric since I’m only 15 but I always got really nice nurses and at night they would go on a walk with me if I wanted, help me get ready for bed, etc. and it was always really nice because they would always come in at like 2am (when my IV finished) and they would try to make sure I didn’t wake up. Sorry for this nonsense of a rant I just love night nurses because I know how hard it can be (day nurses too of course) they just always stuck out to me because even while you’re sleeping they’re still walking around trying to help people even when you don’t realize they are
Am also a tech and I️ work night shift. But I️ work 3-4 days a week while in nursing school I️ graduate in June 2018 and I️ can’t wait to be done with nursing school. Love your videos keep up the good work
Omg Holley I come back to this video often just to motivate myself!! It's crazy at this point in your life you had NO IDEA the amazing things that you would do in this year 2021!! New house, daisy award, etc.. Super cute and exciting.
I️ also work as a tech going through nursing school! It really is an awesome experience! I️ have been an icu tech for 5 years working full time weekend nights! While going to school for nursing full time it’s crazy hard but it will pay off! I️ love your videos!
Ive done nightshift for 2 yeArs and half. Very hard, messes up ur sleep, cant do much the next day but sleep. So bless you its very difficult shift not for everyone. I did it and never again.
Very exciting! You seem happy and like you enjoy what you do, you belong in the nursing field! I give you major props for being able to juggle nursing school, working, and a boyfriend... definitely going to be a huge adjustment when I start!
I’m not a nurse, but I am a full time college student working night shift 10-6 Sunday - Thursday. It’s interesting to see others with this lifestyle since it’s very new to me. Very inspirational!
i'm a PCA aka patient care attendant, here in southern california we can only do condom caths, ,assist the nurses with NON-invasive procedures but i did not know about nurse techs having a CNA license and being able to do minimal invasive procedures but it makes sense that they are considered ER techs. I guess its different depending where you live. Great video and night shift rocks! :-)
I’m an emt and was night shift on my previous service, recently transferred to days to cut my hours from 40 a week to 26 and I have to say I love nights so much more. I would work 3-4 nights a week and take 3 day shifts (usually consecutive) but now I’m strictly days and it’s been a really tough adjustment sleep wise
Did you ever feel scared becoming a nurse. Like, did you feel like you wouldn’t know what to do? Do you get use to the job? I’m not sure where I can ask you questions so you can input them onto a Q and A video.
U have everything so well put together learning something new everyday i been working nights but oh boy i need to change what i do to get most productive of my life
i know you probably wont see this comment....... but.........awe i can relate so much!!!! i also work night shifts ... i usually wake up early as 6am or 7am and then either cook, laundry, workout then i try to sleep from 1pm to 5pm then i get off at 7:30am... idk how you dont sleep from 1pm till next day lol... i tried functioning by waking up at 10am and noooope i would be so sleepy...... i work at pediatric and pediatric intensive care unit.... 3 days a week 12hr shits.... ive been doing night shift for about 3 years next month... i need like 2 day recovery lol...... its crzay... but awe tons of your videos i can relate!!!! its like seeing my life in your videos... thanks for the motivation... love ur videos......
I️ love your videos! Thank you for taking us on your journey and being real; you’re such an inspiration! I️’m in my 1st year of Nursing school & have juggled with the idea of making a RUclips channel with my journey!
I'm starting night shift tonight as a CNA. I've been a little worried about it because I also will only be working once a week, so I won't be getting my whole schedule on a night shift schedule. This was helpful, and reassuring that it can be done!!
I once worked 2nd shift. 4 or 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. One time I was driving home. I was in my suburb where I lived and a cop pulled me over. I think he thought I was breaking curfew. I explained I was coming home from work. He didn't give me a warning or anything. But my sleep was so messed up. I 'd stay up until 4 a.m. and wake up around noon, and I would go to Star Bucks. I was a night owl anyways, so second shift really helped. But the job was a stand up job and I was so physically exhausted. But I was mostly working over the weekend: Thursday - Sunday.
And now you're a night shift nurse !! 👏🎉🎊 I love how you're still so thorough with your videos even years later 🤗 is that a hydroflask ?? I have the blue ombre one and I'm so thankful I bought it because I now drink nothing other than water !
What supplies do you pack for your shifts? Do you bring study materials, stethoscope, pen lights, things to keep you busy if you have down time, etc.? Sorry this is such a late question haha!
I highly recommend the new mango monsters! I saw it in stock when you bought your drinks! They are the BEST!!! They’re in the pretty blue cans lol! Only for a limited time though!
quick question... alot of times PCT's and CNA's are treated like crap. I'm about to start a PCT job at a small hospital and I want this to work out so badly whereas I too, am a nursing student and in a year and a half, I could potentially be an RN there. My question is to you and any who reads this, how can a person STAY in a position, how do people do it? I had a cna job before but could only hack it for about 3 mos because of other cnas bologna, and really bad nurses. Its a shame because, I need a job and those patients need taken care of. Guess it just takes alot of focus and alot of patience. Thanks girl.
Dana S I'm a night shift PCT in a hospital, and honestly there is no way around lazy/rude coworkers. I just take my job one day at a time and bust my butt all night. I work on a hard floor where there is NO SLOW time and 15 pts for each tech, and on nights when the other tech isn't helping or I get stuck with a nurse that doesn't do "tech work" I just have to suck it up and get it done. Thankfully most of my nurses bust butt as well. Just remember why you are here. Each day/night you work you are gaining experience so you can BEAST it in clinicals. It may be a hard 12hrs, but you can do anything for 12hrs. Plus you get to work in pajamas and help save lives. :D
So after night shift you only sleep till noon that's only 5 hrs from 7am I couldn't do that. I used to work night shift at a warehouse got off at 3:40 am when to bed at 8am and slept until 3pm
I LOVE Caribou Coffee. Had it for the first time at The Mall of America in Minneapolis (actually Bloomington) MN. I live in the PNW and I hate Starbucks Coffee
Please make a video about your experiences/thoughts/routine of being a CNA! Thinking about doing I️t this summer because the state I️ live in doesn’t require the courses or exam after your first year of Nursing school!
Sht.. night shifts are horrible! I'm working as a security guard and I have to do a night shift once a week (it's a 8 hour shift from 11PM to 7AM) and I freaking hate it. Thanks for sharing with us this video btw :D
New sub! Perfect timing, I am leaving my job to start 7p-7a in post surge. My first hospital job, until now, I've only worked in nursing homes and private duty. I have done doubles (3p-7a) but, I will be doing pre reqs soon. Any study suggestions for me to plan and balance full time ,sleep, and school?
Starting as a student nurse on April 16. I'm SO excited! I'm wondering how my feet/legs are going to handle a 12 h shift :S I guess we'll find out! I'm also sad that we don't have ANY caribou coffee in FL.
It does get easier. You learn to settle into your routine. I now work Saturday nights as a PCA after working a minimum of 20 hours a week at Burger King after school. You do what you’ve gotta do and somehow it works out.
Digestion requires a lot of energy, which is why I never eat night shift either. Typically, a nutrient dense meal along with proper hydration is generally all I need.
How did you transition into a nurse tech? Like what are the requirements for that? and how are you liking it? Also, do you like Caribou Coffee better than Starbucks?
Starting to love caribou A LOT. Not quite sure which I like better..finals might determine that hahah. As for requirements, none different! Just need to have your CNA license. Same job description just in a hospital setting.
I guess I shoud clarify that a "nurse tech" does have to have completed an acute care clinical and pass Fundamentals of nursing. It is because we do things like catheters, NG tubes, vitals, Trachs, help do nursing skills essentially!
Here in Texas a unit tech is CNA we do vitals patient care removal of Foley’s and iv and nurse externs are this that do trach NG tube and all essential of a RN job and they require you be halfway thru your nursing school towards the end nothing like clinicals because preceptors are literally having you have hands on job training
AYYYY👩🏻⚕️🙋🏻♀️ sorry this post is late i literally ran into this after watching a few ‘day in the life’... (nurses, students, residents☺️) am from CHICAGO tooo! so happy i ran into this video and you girl!! Hope all is well with nursing school and your tech job! just got a new job after leaving northwestern medicine full time haha
Hey girl, love the video!! Just wondering .. How did you transition to nurse tech, what were the requirements??? Keep them coming, you're such an inspiration!! 😊😊💕💕💕
I'm applying for a nurse tech position that requires you work one 12 hour shift a week minimum. Would you work night shift every Saturday night? What would you suggest?
Loved this! I just got my CNA over the summer, my course load is really busy this semester so I haven't started looking for jobs yet, but I want to for spring semester. A few questions - how did you find a PRN job at the nursing home you work at? Most of the places that are hiring in my area are full time jobs. And what are some tips on getting hired? Is it competitive to get a job as an aid/tech, or is it more who you know?
Hi there! Just came across your video and loved it! I just recently got certified as a nursing assistant! Any tips for getting the job/any preferences (hospice/hospital?) 😁😁😁

I work night shift twice a week as a sleep study tech... currently finishing up my prerequisites for nursing. Love working nights. Great tips 👍🏼
I’m a pre-nursing student about to start working at a hospital night shifts (M-F 10p-7am) and find this very helpful!
I’m not even a nursing student or nurse, but I love and watch your videos/vlogs!

How many hours a week do you work? I start nursing school next semester and am super nervous about what I’m going to do for my work schedule
Every other weekend - 12 hour shift:)
I'm applying for a nurse tech position that requires you work one 12 hour shift a week minimum. Would you work night shift every Saturday night? What would you suggest?
i start my night shift 730-4am first over night job ... i hope i don’t fail lol
I'm a security guard. Idk why I'm here but I don't mind it.
Me too i work 12am to 8am used to work 10pm to 6am

Do you only work saturdays?
Hi there! Just came across your video and loved it! I just recently got certified as a nursing assistant! Any tips for getting the job/any preferences (hospice/hospital?) 😁😁😁
DO A ROOM TOUR!!!
Do you know anything about nurse residency, like what it is/ when to apply for it and how it helps you in your career? Thanks!
So you're working every second Saturday?
Great videos as usual by the way! :)
Yes ma'am! THANK YOU
Love ❤️ ur attitude
Nice comparison before and after makeup....
Watching in December 2020. Sam who? 😂💕
What is the difference between a tech and a CNA?
Lacie Stewart techs and CNAs are similar, but a tech has a broader scope of practice. For example some techs can draw blood, or check blood sugar. It’s not much of a difference
So I am a veterinary technician student. I currently work night shift 11pm-8am at an ER practice. I am curious to know what you do the following day. I am full time night shift unlike you. Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. With school on tuesdays and thursdays and man am I struggling. Recommendations appreciated.
do you feel crappy the next day after a night shift?
I do lol
I don’t eat during the day I just eat at night when I work.
I love happy people too

I’m assuming you don’t get paid? I start nursing next fall and I’m so stressed and I haven’t even started lol
Just wondering how much do you make
Is a nurse technician the same as a certified nurse assistant? I am a CNA. :) I have never heard of a nurse technician.
Yes basically used interchangeably
WhYvonne do nurses have 12hr shifts?
Is a tech the same thing as a CNA?
Yes
