    The amount of hate this channel gets is unreal. Vegans can't take a little constructive criticism? She didn't say anything fallacious or unfair in this video. In fact I agree with her. There is no one size suits all diet. People have different dietary requirements.

    It is really dangerous to tell people they don't need their medications, especially when you're not a doctor. This is just ridiculous of TVC. That is my biggest issue with veganism in general, that people actually believe this stuff. But, of course, even speaking about it in the vegan community gives you severe backlash in the community.

    If Saara reads this:
    I started having problems with my colon after going vegan two years ago. After finding out I react bad to fiber, which also developed into ulcerative colitis/procitis (Irritable Bowel Disease), I went to a clinical nutritionist. She told me to eat veeeery differently from what a lot of these RUclipsrs say. I also got my eyesight damaged prior to my colon problems, probably due to the lack of thiamine. After following my nutritionist's advice, my symptoms reversed greatly, but I still have little bit of damage to my eyesight (currently at 90-95%). Here is what my nutritionist told me:
    Eat more soluble fiber (cooked oats, white rice, white bread, husk, etc) and cook your food (stews & soups). Cooking the food, softens the fiber and don't aggravate the already irritable area in your colon. Don't eliminate oil, but keep it low (1-2 tablespoons a day) and use healthy alternatives (plant-based: olive, canola, etc, but not tropical oils: coconut, etc ). Stay away from added preservations ending with -ol. Last, but not least, take a multi vitamin.
    She told me also to experiment and I've found out that also cutting out/reducing alcohol, coffee, bread, and not using hot spices (cayenne pepper, chili, etc) REALLY helped!!
    Animal products don't contain fiber so I totally get why you go back to eating animals, that was my first instinct also. I'm still vegan though, but if you're going to eat meat, make sure it's lean cuts. You want to minimize the saturated fat and keep fat in general low.
    My advice after getting sick twice: don't listen to RUclipsrs!!! Go to an expert, meaning someone who has an education on nutrition ^_-
    Best of luck to you!!

      @@edgyguy5553 Part of the lesson of this RUclips video was not listening to random internet people over other more reliable sources 😂 while I will agree that canola oil isn't great, if they said to avoid tropical sourced oils, there are plenty others they can eat that still follow their doctors advice and are relatively healthy. For example, olive, grapeseed, almond, avocado, etc.

      Monica Maher i've been dealing with BPD for 15 years and i'm a psychotherapist (ironic, isn't it?), i agree that a vegan diet won't solve the problem. a clean diet,however,can do a lot, expecially if you avoid alcohol, coffee,excessive amount of sugar,etc...all the foods that can have small negative impact on regular people,could have huge impact on those with bpd! meditation and phisical activity help a lot,too

      it did cure most of my anxiety and depression but it didn't fully knock it out because part of becoming well is changing your mental thoughts and food can't change that by it self , but I do believe food can be medicine , I used to throw up every time I went to go # 2 and since becoming vegan I don't, and it was really really awful ,I'd get a stabbing back pain and heartburn for days and all of that shit went away , but the left over bad thoughts are also due to being in recovery from drugs as well tho so of course food alone can't fix everything and being fully raw is fully unnecessary.

    • @HypnoRhymes
      @HypnoRhymes 7 лет назад +1

      Morfeus sugar act on dopamine level,it can boost your mood in the moment but,when the its effects start to decrease,the mood tends to go down. that's why excessive sugar intake can lead to sugar craving. that mood "up and down" it's not good if a person tends to have mood swings by himself,like in bpd

      Because their thing isn't food related and veganism very much is. Why would we wanna pick on anyone? Constructive criticism is not the same as picking on someone else. Within the vegan movement we should be critical, of course within reason, constructive and use compassion as a guideline while criticising. Otherwise the whole vegan movement will be tossed together with the flat-earthers in the same looney category.

      Hi Unnatural Vegan,
      I'm asking you this question because you seem to be a pretty open minded vegan.
      What if being a vegan was more inclusive and less of a all or nothing way of life???
      eg.
      A person who;
      1)doesn't eat meat or fish is a Silver Vegan / 1st Degree Vegan
      2)doesn't eat meat, fish, dairy and eggs is a Gold Vegan/ 2nd Degree Vegan
      3)doesn't eat meat, fish, dairy and eggs + plus doesn't wear or support anything else that supports animal cruelty is a Platinum Vegan/ 3rd Degree Vegan
      This could let more people in and allow them to better themselves without feeling like they aren't making a difference.
      Vegetarian 👫and Vegan working together to change the world🌏
      p.s. I have only been a vegan for seven days, but in the two months that I have been researching and watching RUclips it seems like we can do more together then apart✌️️

      Same here. I had bad acid reflux before going vegan. I had to take extra strength acid reducers every day, and even then, I'd still sometimes get acid reflux. When I was vegan for a month, I decided to try not taking the medication anymore, because I heard that going vegan gets rid of acid reflux, and I don't have to take it anymore. (I still take it on days when I go to the gym, because the constant changing of positions while working out makes the acid splash up into my esophagus).

      My tummy was going too, but I did everything I could find on NutritionFacts to promote a healthy gut bacteria, and made sure I understood prebiotics and vegan sources of probiotics and gave them /time/. I included kimchi into my dinners, a tiny amount, like two or three pieces of the fermented cabbage, every night for about 3 weeks during my WFPB vegan transition. My stools firmed up, my tummy went from painful and gassy to much better, and waaay better than before veganism. I'm 5'2", low activity level, 1600 calorie intake, and I derive about 50 grams of fiber (prebiotic) from whole foods daily. It can take time for the prebiotics to not freak out our stomachs, because the bacteria that consumes this fiber in the last parts of digestion have been starved for so long (check out NutritionFacts for a much better explanation, lol, my word choice is so simple-minded and unscientific-sounding).
      And yes, the blood-type diets have been debunked.

    Unfortunately most vegan youtubers or
    The big ones (minus yourself) chose to ignore basic human psychology, freelee for example "you don't have to like me you just have to hear me" .. No one has to hear you, and the less they like you the less they'll be likely to here it. Or if they do chose to hear, it'll be to mock. And they chose to ignore 1000's of years of culture, of the 100's of diets that people are capable of living on perfectly well many not not being vegan (I don't think any of the blue zones are completely vegan though low in animal products) basically, they over simplify everything, and it pushes people away.

Freelee is just a thing of our time, her opinion won't impact anything but some people that are really despreate in their attempt to find a solution to their problem. they don't place fear at all. They're just showing the current study on those particular topics. You can read some of these sources up yourself. You can then make an informed decision of whether you want to consume any of these products. No one is holding you at gun point stopping you from consuming those things despite them being proven by recent peer reviewed studies to be unhealthy. But then again people like you shouldn't be allowed to read up or watch scientific and logical contents anyways. You're only going to take these things personally and make uneducated opinions. They're meant to be read or seen with just one goal in mind, to learn, to have deeper understanding and to educate one's self.

      Sure you do. If you went thru a period of calorie restriction on a raw vegan diet (such as by always juicing instead of eating meals) and got super skinny, then you resume eating regular meals and this time around include a lot more fats in the form of nuts and seeds (like eating a lot of raw vegan desserts). This could totally cause weight gain of 20 pounds. Remember there are many women who gained weight switching to a Raw til 4 or Fully Raw diet. I was one of them.

    That Vegan Couple's response to Kathleen Lights wasn't *too* terrible, but the part that made me twitch was when they talked about the cost of a vegan diet. Should people beat on Kathleen because she can afford to cut out dairy and meat? No. But should we be aware that some people live in dire poverty, in food deserts, etc.? Yes, of course. I'm glad we have so many channels and resources that help people with affordable vegan meal plans and easy recipes, but not everybody has ready access to those foods or even the internet.
    And the idea that veganism can cure all problems, including stomach issues, for everyone needs to stop. I deal with IBS, and there are some vegan staples I can't eat, like avocado (ugh so sad) and chickpeas (whyyyy). And when I mention this, some vegans get very defensive and say, "Well, you just need to keep trying! Eventually, your stomach will *heal* enough for you to eat them!" ...no, that's not how this works. In fact, that could be dangerous for people who have allergies or are intolerant to certain foods. If going vegan makes you feel much better, than I am so happy for you! But it's not a cure-all for everyone and everything.

      _some people live in dire poverty_
      They are either starving or forced to eat vegan, I am pretty sure no one ever said - "I am too poor to give up meat and dairy".
      PS Is there anything cheaper than brown rice or potatoes?

    • @NaeOnYT
      @NaeOnYT 7 лет назад +3

      Mark, it's not an "either/or" argument. Food insecurity is a real problem here in the US.
      Even if brown rice and potatoes are cheap, they do not create a nutritionally complete diet on their own. Furthermore, people in food deserts often don't even have access to those staples. The picture of a "typical urban corner shop" on Wikipedia actually makes me tilt my head, because I've taught in communities where the only food source for 40+ miles was a gas station, and it didn't contain all of those canned beans. It was a few shelves of processed foods, almost none of them vegan, and one or two fridges containing things like milk, eggs, iced tea, and frozen dinners.
      I've never heard somebody say, "I am too poor to give up meat and dairy," but I have heard, "I am too poor to give up most of the already limited food I can access and afford."
      ETA: Also, please don't forget my point about access to the internet. Many people do not have internet access at home. A 2013 study shows that 84% of US households have a computer, and 73% of households have an internet connection. This matches up to similar numbers provided by PEW. That means roughly 1 out of 4 American households can't access the internet from home, and the internet is a top source of vegan information. This can be abated by having a library with computers, but not every community has such a valuable resource, and/or many people with disabilities or limited funds cannot easily get to their libraries. If we want people to reduce their animal product consumption, then they need access to quality resources so they can maintain a healthy diet and stay on track.

    • @mkimask
      @mkimask 7 лет назад +2

      Nae G once again we are moving towards "if you were on desert island" type of argument. Brown rice and potatoes with some added vegetables/fruits make a perfect vegan diet. I am against the notion that veganism is something only rich can afford. The more you move towards poor people the less animal products they consume. Brazilian people aren't very rich that is why rice and beans are so popular there. In poorest African regions it is most likely that the only food you eat in a day will be few sweet potatoes. My point is that money argument is in favor of veganism. For me phrase "can afford to cut out dairy and meat" makes no sense - animal products were always the privilege of the rich not vice-versa.

    • @NaeOnYT
      @NaeOnYT 7 лет назад +4

      "If you were on a desert island"? Roughly 2 million poor people live in rural areas that are considered food deserts. You can't really compare the US to countries like Brazil in part because it's a smaller country, in part because they have a different food culture. Again, most of the rural poor are only going to get the food that's around them, and if you live in a food desert, the number of vegan options is going to be severely limited. "Brown rice and potatoes with some added vegetables/fruits make a perfect diet"--yeah, they do, if you have access to brown rice, potatoes, and a variety of vegetables. Not everybody does. It's sad, but true.
      I have taught in places where the only food source for miles was a gas station, and the vegan options on its shelves were bags of microwave rice, peanut butter, bread, jelly, some canned veggies and fruit, and Ramen. That's it. And most of my students could not get to the big grocery stores in the next town; they didn't have cars or, if they had one, they barely had the money to run them.These were not people on a "desert island;" these were our rural poor.
      You're focusing on what I said about Kathleen in my original post, and sure, I misspoke a little. My point was that she can afford to eat a healthy, BALANCED vegan diet. Many people cannot. They do not have access to those foods. That is something we should be aware of.

  • @elisenieuwe4649
    @elisenieuwe4649 7 лет назад +21

    I have actually had kinda the same experience as Saara. I ate vegan for a couple of weeks and only got less energy and felt bad. I found out I got many food intolerances. Especially for raw fruits (including tomato and a little bit with avocado) And if you got problems with your intestens then beans are not a great thing to start eating a lot either >.<
    I think it's better for me to go slowly into veganism. I personally start with being a vegetarian and am finding out what works for me and what doesn't. Then I will transit into vegan in my own way, so that I probably won't get sick again.
    The whole: oh now I go immediatly 100% into vegan without having any idea what to eat, is maybe not the most wise thing to do for people with food allergies/intolerances/intestine problems. (maybe not wise for anyone, if you want to be vegan for longer then 3-6 months)

    Valid points made. I've had IBS for 2-3 years and can vouch that going vegan can make symptoms worse if you're not careful what you eat. By eating vegan you will tend to exposure yourself to higher FODMAP foods which can cause digestive distress. I would recommend any IBS sufferers struggling with a vegan diet try a low FODMAP diet (guidance available for free on the NHS in the U.K.) to see if this helps symptoms

    So to preface my comment: I am a sustainability advocate and try to live as close to a zero-waste lifestyle as possible. That said, I also have battled disordered eating for most of my life. As a broke college student, I tried to go vegetarian to further lessen my impact on the planet.. to a disastrous effect on my body. As a normally very slim person, I dropped to a scary weight within less than a month due to my disorder, lack of funds, and general lack of knowledge about proper plant based eating. I had, and still have to, eat animal products again to get necessary calories, protein, etc because I cannot restrict my diet at the weight I’m currently at. Which is frustrating, because I would love to eventually go back to plant based. HOWEVER! The moral of my comment is that if you have a passion for the environment but can’t go plant based for whatever reason, that is NOT the end-all be-all of environmentalism like Freely and That Vegan Couple like to proclaim. It’s all about living within your means and being mindful. I can’t be vegan but I CAN do other things to help the planet, such as local litter pickups, climate marches, minimizing plastic use, and transitioning to zero waste products. Its all about doing what you can and making changes where you are able to. Love your videos💛

    i really really wish people would just stick with the ethical argument for being vegan. Veganism is healthy yes but it is not magic. I came to this lifestyle thinking it was magic (because of certain youtubers) and i've since encountered multiple digestive issues (mostly due to my past of disordered eating) and still am.The only thing that's keeping me around through this pain is the animals and because i "woke up" to the fact that being rawtill4 or raw vegan is not going to help me out (quite the opposite really). People still face health issues with veganism and maximum of these digestive issues are caused by bizarre diets advocated by vegan youtubers with absolutely zero scientific knowledge on nutrition. I feel like Saara was definitely fooled by one of these youtubers into thinking 10 banana smoothies would heal your body. I'm pretty sure eating pbj toast or a bowl of cereal for breakfast would not be the cause of 20 dumps. I hope she sees this video and reconsiders but until then we have the vegan cult of youtube to thank for yet another casualty.

    I think it's simple: veganism can be easy, especially with the right
    mindset and support, it can be delicious and healthy, but you shouldn't
    expect it to be a magical cure for everything.
    I have quite a big circle of vegan friends and most don't feel very different (physically) than they did before. Personally, I do have much more energy now but I eat significantly more fruits and vegetables on a daily basis, and I also started taking vitamin D which I should have done much sooner because we don't get a lot of sun here. My energy drops when I eat too much junk food for a while and/or stop exercising.

    When i went vegan, all the fiber did cause me digestive issues. Mainly constipation, and i can tell you i did not take one single shit in a day! The reason was that i did not eat enough fats, as a vegetarian my fats came from eggs and cheese. So cutting them out, i was left with basically no fats.
    After i added suitable amount of fats on all my foods, it solved it. You need fats if you are eating lots of fiber, they act as a lubricant in the the colon so shit can move. New vegans do not know where to get plant based fats. And all the idiots advocating low fat diets, even when plant fats are mostly just super good and have no cholesterol.
    Now i know, and make sure that all my foods have suitable amount of fats.
    One good thing is ground flaxseeds, you can add them in pasta sauce and it will work as a thickener. Just add them last, as you wont want to heat up fats too much or they will break.
    Also, most of these youtubers are going vegan and off vegan for views. As it will cause drama and response videos and all that crap. Most of them have no idea of what proper nutrition is, so it's pretty impossible to switch to vegan diet after not knowing how to eat in the first place. You need to know how to balance your diet, to be interested in nutrition contents and all that at least for the first months. Unless you have a person who can form you a proper diet.

    I had an encounter whit a RUclipsr like this two folks a year ago. I had a horrible experience! He was pretty aggressive on how I should eat , think or even breathe, at one point he called me mediocre for just being the way I am, of course I hated him and everything that has to do with veganism, I thought all vegans were like this dude. I’m now going back to a vegan diet, after reading a few books and just learning what my body needs. It is people like you that make me think not all vegans are jerks and that is not as hard as it looks, thanks so much for being yourself and for being tolerant! Love your channel!

    Yes, they are riddiculous. But wait, isn't Saara riddicoulous, too? Come on, making a video about going vegan, calling it off after three weeks (she was vegan like what, two months?) She is not saying she will be vegetarian (=less fiber, still contributing), she's not saying she tried to change her vegan diet.
    I know doctors and to-be-doctors and trust me, they have shitload of work, and they are not necesairly nutritionists (which is absolutely crazy of That Vegan Couple to demand that - do they realize how complex and vast field of medicine is? Doctors have limited time, let them focus on their damn fields! Anyway, some of them do know about nutrition - dermatologists, gastrologists etc. but they are not your primary doctors. I don't see That Vegan Couple making degrees one after another.), and if you come to your primary doctor saying 'I felt good, changed diet, I feel bad' it is just common sense to say 'go back to your previous diet!', they won't have time time to hold your hand and analyze Earthlings versus blood test with you while eating low fiber hummus.
    If you watch her going vegan video, she says this generic bullshit, I mean, excuse me, three weeks in and you hair grows like crazy? I totally agree with you that soon after change it was probably psychological, but anyway, making this transition 'like that' while having stomach issues? Without doing even a blood test or resarching what micro/macronutrients should be avoided? She fell into fashion trap without preparing (yes, when you have a condition you have to prepare extra) and I don't feel like we have to shield her from 'those crazy vegans', who actually this time weren't that inaccurate and mad in their opinions.

    • @justdoit6706
      @justdoit6706 7 лет назад +7

      3 weeks isn't 2 months lol, 2 months is a very good amount of time to judge the diet effects and is enough time to see effects. Your hair grows a couple inches a month so yes she'd be able to see faster hair growth in that amount of time. I don't agree however with her quitting because of stomach issues worsening. She probably has IBS or something in which a handful of vegetables are worse than others for stomach issues. There's a whole bunch of issues with her quitting for that reason but yeah she gave it enough time for the basic effects.

      Just Do It
      Hey, I get your point :) but please notice that she mentioned her fast-growing hair in her first video - about a month after going vegan (as well as her skin- one cycle is not enough to see a pattern, although I'm not saying she didn't have better skin after a month!). It takes quite a sometime for microelements from plants to act on your hair growth. It's better not to advertize veganism like that if we want to avoid more 'Why I'm not longer vegan' videos.

    My primary reason for being vegan is the health benefits. The ethical benefits are also very nice but secondary. If there's little or no long term health benefits, then I'm not sure if I'll stay vegan. I dunno how much you watched Dr. Greger's stuff, but there's a huge amount of research about the health benefits of not eating animal products. And if you think that people should listen to experts and doctors, that is what he is. He might make a mistake sometimes but that doesn't mean that most of what he says is untrue or hyperbole.

    I really appreciate that you're pro talking about vegan struggles. I myself have been meat free for over 4 years now. The last few weeks I've been struggling and considering eating seafood. I've been having cravings for meat and it just makes me feel bad about myself. Looking for some answers, I found your channel. Watching your videos made me realize that I haven't been eating the proper nutrition and that may be why I've been craving non-vegan foods. I avoid soy, since I have found it makes my acne worse. But I watched your soy video and I plan on reintroducing soy to see if it affects me negatively still. I think having more options for meat subtitutes will help me feel more satisfied with my food, since I'm a foodie and love to cook. I'm so grateful to have found you. Your mindset is so refreshing. I've been learning more about eating the proper macros, and making sure I'm getting enough protein. My passion for being vegan is renewed, and I'm so happy to feel like myself again! We really shouldn't be ashamed when we talk of our struggles being vegan. It's not always easy. But I'm happy I'm standing by my love of animals and my commitment to not hurting them.

    THANK YOU. I watched them when I first transitioned from vegetarianism to veganism, along with people like Freelee, Nina and Randa, etc. As someone who needs to take medication for depression and hating the stigma behind it, I was convinced that eating enough fruit would magically make me better, I was incredibly afraid of eating fat, I was fearful of medications and supplements -- I was constantly sick, malnourished, incredibly depressed. I'm not usually someone who jumps on these sort of trends, but when you see videos of these passionate people as the main face of veganism it's painfully easy to confuse their misinformation with facts. If I hadn't been vegetarian for so long before I know I would have given up a lot easier and it scares me how many people we're turning away with people like this as the face of veganism.

Life is not black and white and not everyone can go fully vegan. Every step towards veganism is a positive step in the right direction which should be encrouaged instead of being shamed for not being pure enough. As a non-vegan (I'm semi-vegeterian) the crazy angry vegans who attack with anti science propoganda really put me off. They exaggerate everything to push their agenda and I think they are deluded. But this is where the rational people hang out, which gives me hope, you don't have to be crazy to be vegan :)

    TLDR; great video! It's nice to come across an open-minded vegan. :D You have a new subscriber.
    This is the first video that I've watched on your channel, and I'm so happy to have found someone like you on here! I was a fan of TVC when they began receiving recognition. They had around 40 000 subscribers when I became a fan, and they were much different back then. Their videos primarily focused on why they became vegan, the various health problems they've overcome because of their new diet, their minimalist life, etc. They're genuinely great people. The volunteer work that they've done in the past is inspiring, and they seem to have good intentions.
    That being said... their popularity began to escalate once they started "critiquing" big names on RUclips (granted that you are critiquing them as well... but you're not as hostile). They've essentially become Freelee (ugh). While I want to believe that their heart is in the right place, spreading the vegan message and all, I wouldn't be as annoyed with them if they avoided the extremist route. I've made a lot of people in my life reconsider their meat consumption because of my choice to eliminate it all together. No condemning and/or aggressive judgement was necessary for that to come into effect. All that was needed was simple facts that I know are true, and that was enough. I didn't give out half ass facts because I don't have the qualifications to answer a lot of questions that a doctor and/or RD can.
    Their answer to that fan's mental health question really set me off, and that's enough for me to finally unsubscribe from their channel. I already deleted them off Snapchat because I was tired of their lack of variety in their meal planning, plus their stories were just way too long to watch in a day. I'm glad for what I learned from TVC, such as some facts about factory farming and environmental issues. However, now they are equivalent to the close-minded extremists that you find in politics, religion, etc., and we know how effective that is. :) (*heavy sarcasm*)
    Thanks for this refreshing perspective. You have a new subscriber!

      wortumherwerfer No no no. Nina and Randa eat very FEW fats. It's almost impossible to eat non fat, so they ARE getting their essential fats, but apparently it helps with their skin, which they clarified in numerous videos. It's not something they ENCOURAGE but just recommend for people with severe acne to try.

      @wortumherwerfer 7 лет назад +4

      I see where you are coming from but I still find it inappropriate to create a "fat phobia" amongst young girls and I highly doubt that they meet their micronutrients, I'm not even sure about their macros. I wouldn't really care, they can eat whatever they want but they DO promote their way of eating and THIS I find irresponsible. Maybe Saara increased her fiber intake too rapidly. Roberta H. Anding (MS, RD/LD, CSSD, CDE and professor at Baylor College of Medicine with over 30 years of experience in nutritional science) in her course Nutrition Made Clear, said that when a person wants to increase the consumption of fiber, he or she is to do so gradually. For example, if one decides to change from low fiber cereal to one with more fiber, she suggests to star by mixing the two, the first day mix 1/4 (serving) of the high fiber cereal and 3/4 (serving) of the low fiber and increase the ratio of high fiber cereal every few days. In addition Dr. Joel Fuhrman in his book "The End of Diabetes", recommends that when a person wants to increase his or her consumption of beans to do so gradually because they can be hard to digest at first but the body will get used to them.

      if you have Chrohns, UC, or IBD, the advice given is completely sound. a low fiber diet is very important for remission, control of your disease and frequency of symptoms, and quality of life with your condition. a low fiber vegan diet, possibly with other trigger exclusions, is unlikely to be healthy.
      If you do not have any of these, you cannot understand the pain you go through just because of what you chose to eat. It was beyond my threshold of possibility in my mind before I experienced it.

    What's "having a nutritional background" really? A lic? A certification? College? Because I have a some of these and I can tell you... The best experience is personal experience. While I agree with just about everything you said, I can tell you from personal experience that most Dr.'s are shit. Agreed! Vegan diet is NOT a cure all. It didn't work for me. I was raw vegan for three years, and then plant based. I have been so for ten years now, but during the course of this lifestyle I was diagnosed with several debilitating autoimmune diseases of which every specialist offered drugs. My savior was the combination of a whole foods plant based dietary lifestyle and fasting. Which I also believe you spoke about on your channel in the past. The problem is, most people jump into these things without fully educating themselves, and in my opinion I believe their failure is USER ERROR. I was lucky to find a specialist who worked with me and how I wanted to address my medical situation and he now recommends plant based foods to his patients. Dr.'s DO NOT receive enough hours or nutrition education when in school. That's why most just hand over drugs. That's truly not dealing with the root of the problem. Ok I can go on forever but I won't. Lol I believe this is my first comment on your channel, but, for the most part... I thoroughly enjoy your videos.

    Honestly I'd love to go vegan but some people need to understand that not everyone can go vegan. Like I was like Born last week so like I'm still growing so my parents shove milk down my throat and I'm really anemic so I need to have a shit ton of iron and I can't get that with most foods because I'm allergic to soy peas nuts etc so I have to rely on fish. Thank you so much for being such a voice of reason. As someone w/ a serious GI disease that now leaves me fully dependent on IV nutrition & hydration, for years - trying to stave of the eventual need for IVs - I had to survive on a nearly no-fiber diet so while eating low/ no fiber is not typically the healthier choice there ARE situations where it is necessary & can literally mean the difference between staying somewhat healthy & having repeated, life-threatening bowel obstructions (that in turn require hospitalization & at times surgery).
    I LOVE that you embrace the message that it's not just all or nothing & that less animal based is still a good thing. It infuriates me how absolutist many vegan "advocates" can be. For me choosing to be vegan would literally mean choosing death - the IV nutrition that has kept me alive for the last 10+yrs has some non-vegan ingredients - and yet I have had some vegans tell me that if I "truly wanted to" I could be fully vegan?! Uh, yeah.

    Thank you for your channel, I appreciate your pragmatism and balance. Your message is so important and it is so true that some vegans are playing a dangerous game by giving nutrition advice. Ones regimen is very personal and a "one fits all diet "should not be promoted..my husband and I are equally as healthy... I'm plantbased and his Omni... it comes down to balance.
