Not me... our crew just had CLEAN JDM Hondas... None of those wings or graphics.. Just FAST cars that looked clean ,,, TON of money in suspension, and motor, We were building before the fast and furious... and also were doing swaps before it was the cool thing to do. LoL. Putting dual cams in CRX's... No cherry picker... Just a riding lawnmower , with a rope tied to it, and using an old OAK tree branch as a pulley ... and the lawnmower to pull the engine out. LoL.
Yea that was stomping cars on the street. I think the pro drag 4 bangers were in the 9's but that was a fully built race car. Now you can buy cars from the factory that run close to those times.
Still power vs $$$ 4cyl turbos will always remain a go to! The problem with Hondas was young kids having the ability to stop at advance and spend couple hundred bucks to rice up a four door economy built sedan! They actually hurt the performance of the cars with so much weight and stereos, I wish they could have learned the basic equation of building race/street cars . People heard that raspy pitch and just assumed it was slower than Gmas power chair. It was embarrassing to actually be a real tuning guy and made me find other hobby’s and interests! Now at 43 years old I still have my touring car, but the play money is in my Rc addiction and grandkids!
@@georgemcfly1205 sweet. There was a series of customizing that Civic. I remember watching it as a teenager back then on how cool it was to have one featured on the show.
I remember stopping at red light in my big block Chevy 454. A Honda civic pulled up to the light next to me. I saw he had a laptop on the passenger seat. He asked me to race I remembered the scene from fast and furious. I declined
I remember these episodes! I’ve seen this car in person at a Honda dealership here in MN when the Si EM1 first came out. Do you have the episode with the red CRX? There’s a tan Accord in the background. Also the green civic DX episodes would be great ! 🙏
Its crazy that civic lost hp to the wheels before the supercharger...stock its supposed to make 138whp....all those boltons just to lose 6whp......proper tuning is always important
God Damn I wish I knew about this tv show back in its day. These HP levels are laughable these days, but having a car that quick back then would have been mind blowing.
I've seen this episode before and I just sold my 709 wheel horsepower 1997 Civic. You can tell this episode is old because nobody would dare use those Altezza taillights these days.
I got lucky with mine I found mine for 1500 bucks from a co worker rustfree body been in wisconsin its whole life and he swapped in a b18b1 with the rear brakes swapped to disc already. the only big problem was that the interior seen better days and the suspention needed an overhaul but I didnt care because the body was in amazing shape compaired to ones in my area.
UGH I MISS MY 93 HONDA PRELUDE SI SWAPPED WITH A N/A JDM H22A!! IT RAN MID 12S IN ¼ ON PUMP GAS AND ALMOST BROKE 11S ON 110 SUNOCO! THE THING WAS A BEAST OF A BACKYARD BUILD!! #BUILTNOTBOUGHT #THATVTECYOO #HONDAFTW 😁💪🏼💯💞
@Dread_Pirate_Homesteader You're entitled unto your opinion sir but it's highly possible with the proper build and tuning even I didn't believe it at first but patience and procedures executed will produce I can promise you this👌🏼
Any way we can get the first couple of seasons of horsepower tv uploaded as well? I pay for the subscription and would love to has access to seasons one and two as well
Disappointed I lived though this but didn't participate! hah. I wanted to though! Always wanted to swap and/or turbo my 97 civic. But now its my winter car while my 2023 type-R waits for warmer weather (stupid summer tires).
Remember watching these episodes on Sat morning. Miss those days!
Same! It's around when I got my first car so I would watch these while eating breakfast then go work on my car. Good times.
I remember watching this episode when I was a yungin!
TNN Network yep good times, After this show was My Classic Car and other greats.
Man I miss turning on speed and watching this stuff… time flys
Life was so much simpler
I miss the 2000’s body kits and cheesy graphic livery’s….. such a great time back then.
Simpler times

Oh the good ole days when then Powerblock was on TV
35 years i’ve been turning wrenches and i’ve never been this clean
Give me a half hour and I can't touch anything that needs to stay clean
Back when 300 HP club ran the streets.... Little different now days.....
Lol crazy
So true! I never thought I would see the day we have 500hp + from the factory and 20 mpg efficiency
I still roll around in a car that only has 350 horsepower I don't need more I don't race so what's the point
@@crzzymnn911 yea I understand.. my sister's Chrysler minivan has 300hp factory.... I mean the ol fox body has their hands full these days as well ...
No durrr
Crazy how much technology has evolved over the pass 20 years.
this show was dated when it aired.

These were the kings of my weekend mornings!!! 2 full hours of the absolute best car shows ever with tons of commercials sprinkled throughout 😂
Back when a 14 sec 1/4 mile time was cookin LoL
If it makes you feel better a 4 pot camry now days with 2.5 liters can run 14s with the basics , While the v6 runs 14s stock

Still a good time for a four cilynder powerhouse.

Me and my dad never really got along but every Sunday morning we'd watch hp tv.
1993 honda prelude si 4ws

The way these guys work together was always so motivational.
These were the days! Not a single laptop in sight for tuning
Yea we use those FMU's
As soon as I saw the Civic I remembered that episode the days of street racing
The prelude si feature is second to none for an h23a1 build.
I really miss waking up and watching powerblock, then fishing and hunting, followed up by more awesome programs when TNA was a station.
I loved watching this show on Saturday mornings!!
