    Did I miss anything ?
    1. Have any subject bachelors degree
    2. Apply for MSW program
    3. After graduate accrue number hours needed to it for the exam-hours vary by state …. Register for board in your state… application to become associate clinical social worker … at this point need to work full time in social work to work under a supervisor that will provide hours needed for application
    4. Get clinical supervision agreement form, complete the form with the supervisor… keep the form with you and submit it along with your application after you get the hours
    5. Clinical supervision begins, supervisor will sign off on your hours. Keep log of your hours
    6. After compile all papers submit and wait on response from board
    7. Board will say yay or nay…. If they say yay you can take the board exam. Contact local testing site to schedule test… began studying for test… take exam
    8. If pass the exam you are now considered LCSW … which means you can officially diagnose and provide therapy

In PA after getting your MSW (Masters in Social Work) you have to take the state board exam to become a LMSW (Licensed Social Worker).
Once you pass you then have to do your clinical experience supervision hours (3,000 hours(at least 2 years) and then take the state board exam again for your clinical license to become a (LCSW(Licensed Clinical Social Worker).
I’m currently on this path and have my state board exam for licensing (LMSW) in December. 👩🏾‍💻

I like the speed you talk, please don’t slow down just for other people can’t follow your speed, because when you slow down I can see you are struggle to follow your thought process lol and when you use the slow motion voice effect which really creates me headache and just have urge to change the channel. Because I just cannot handle the slow speed in my head. You attract certain people into your channel like me just want to have a fast information and you voice speed is perfect, dont’ cater for everyone. 😂
Oh and thank you so much for sharing this information. Do you mind to share why you go from LCSW to psychology PHD? I am contemplating to change to Master of social work but also still very enjoying psychology study….I wonder would I regret if I change to study social work? Or can I change back to Psychology if later one I found I still prefer psychology pathway

I have a BFA and currently working in my field in graphic design but have been thinking about going into social work for a long time, I think volunteering in the field before applying would increase my changes of getting into a MSW - I have good grades so crossing my fingers this would be enough to get into a good program

I have a question for you and was hoping you have time for feedback… do you have any suggestions on where or how to take the additional coursework required for LCSW in California? I know there are specific hours for each course, but was wondering if you have any recommendation

Can you clarify for me I'm a little lost. Does your supervision hours count as job pay? In NY I need at least 3,000 hours about 3 years of supervision for a LCSW, but I'm just confused if I get paid for those hours?? Do I work as a LSW part time while doing supervision on the side? Sorry if this sounds stupid. Im just so lost and stressed.

      Hi Maria,
First off, this doesn’t sound stupid at all. It’s a valid question and so many different things to remember so it can definitely be confusing! But don’t worry and try not to stress because it will get clarified. You can find a job where you get supervision hours while working as a social worker. You just need to ask when interviewing: “do you provide supervision hours?” If they have a clinical supervisor who can provide you hours then you can get hours and paid when you get the job. :) let me know if this doesn’t make sense. I’ll be happy to clarify further.

In NYS, you need to be an LMSW to work as a social worker. Find a job, it could be part-time or full-time, where you can get clinical supervision at the job.

I have my Bachelor’s in Mass Communications and I really regret that degree. I’ve been thinking about becoming a licensed clinical social worker. Would I be able to get my MSSW with my current BA in communications?

No! You don’t need a BSW to peruse an MSW as your undergrad major will still meet the requirements I looked it up for ya :)

Hi! Would you recommend doing your undergrad at a school that offers a msw graduate program.

Hi! Good question! I would recommend looking into MSW programs and applying to a few. I don't think it necessarily matters where you get your undergrad! Hope this helps.

If I wanna work as a hospice social worker will I still need to do 3,000 hours?

    • @MentalHealthwithMelissa
      @MentalHealthwithMelissa  7 месяцев назад

It depends on the hospice agency. Most hospice agencies hire MSWs without a license!
