  • After a few weeks of laying low, business planning, hanging out with family in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, we decided to take some time for a bit of an adventure. Luckily for us, despite the pandemic, domestic travel (done safely) in Costa Rica is not only allowed but actually encouraged in an attempt to boost the local tourism industry that has suffered greatly in the last 12 months.
So we packed our bags and made our way to the Caribbean Coast, to Tortuguero National Park - one of the most popular and perhaps most unique National Parks in Costa Rica.
It’s a destination we haven’t visited before, and despite some preconceived notions, it turned out to be a destination that blew us away!

Wow, you are so right...The wildlife is simply AMAZING! This reminds me very much of a missions trip that I took to Guatemala many years ago, where we took small river boats to reach beautiful, remote beaches & jungles. Thanks for sharing your fantastic journey. Can't wait to visit Costa Rica!

We did a lot of things
But yes the beaches are turtle nesting beaches and the canal side is likely full or crocodiles.

@@Drinkteatravel im thinking Nikon z6 or Z7. i currently use Nikon D10 but find it can get a bit heavy walking around all day.

Tortuguero is the only national park in Costa Rica that has a town inside it.
Go to cocles and punta uva

What time of year is this and can you share information about the shuttle? Do you have recommendations for the tours you booked? I'll be there in April 2022 and want to visit this area. I just went to Arenal and Quepos/Manuel Antonio in September and loved both locations. Thanks for any tips you can/want to share!

Hi, there is no public shuttle per say, it is part of the tour that the hotel gives you as a package. It is quite affordable all things considering. We have our own car here but still opted for the transport as it only added like 25$ per person i think.
We enjoyed all of the boat/kayak touring as thats where you get to see soo much of the wildlife there. The hike up to the lookout was also pleasantly nice.
