This is a most beautiful performance of this fine symphony! The shaping and phrasing is most wonderful! This slow movement is one of the greatest in all Russian music.

After listening to this performance a number of times,I am overwhelmed by the excellent precision and commitment of this great orchestra and conductor! The last movement in particular can be brash, but here is a virtuoso rendering, with nobility.

Carlos Encarnacion: Beautiful performance. Audio quality is fantastic and visible resolution could not be better. Those guys play those musical instruments are really superb. Alexander Glazunov was a genius. He wrote his first musical composition at the age of 15 and was a prolific composer.

A wonderful performance! I enjoyed it- even the somewhat extreme ritard in the first movement, actually more than a ritard- and what a great symphony. Sumptuous, and compelling. Glazunov was a great melodist and a supreme orchestrator. Thank you for posting.

Actually, I admire far more the way Glazunov puts a piece together - very literate and articulate - rather than how he orchestrates, which I am somewhat less impressed with. For one thing he tends to abuse the piccolo; in my opinion creating very strident effects, which really do not belong with such magnificently composed music.

Thanks for posting this concert video. Glazunov is easy on the ears and deserves more presence on concert programs. I really enjoyed this performance and am linking it to others.

Carlos Encarnacion: Beautiful performance. Good definition on instruments sounds and good audio. There is a section where although music is heard no movement on players is observed which is a pity. Then a sarcastic laugh is heard. Look what is good is good wherever it comes.

Peccato!
