What is the fundamental difference between the 14 fret and 12 fret?

The 12-fret’s neck meets the body at the12th fret. The 14-fret’s neck meets the body at the 14th fret. More frets are easily accessible on a 14-fret guitar when playing upright as opposed to lap-style.
