First Class on Flight #1 - The A321T Farewell Tour - American Airlines from New York to Los Angeles
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 авг 2024
- New York to Los Angeles may be a domestic route, but it has long received special attention from the full service US carriers. Ever since United introduced its dedicated "P.S." (premium service) 757s in 2004, we've seen American and Delta up their game to win over high value corporate travelers between two of the country's largest business hubs. Fast forward to 2024, and domestic "first class" from NYC to LA looks a lot more like international business class - with lie flat seats, amenity kits, upgraded food/bev and airport lounge access. And the major carriers have branded their transcontinental premium products accordingly - Delta with Delta One, United with Polaris, and American with "Flagship."
However, American is currently the only US full service airline with dedicated planes for premium transcontinental routes. It flies a 102-seat A321T (T for transcon) with three classes of service - main cabin, flagship biz and flagship first. These planes are some of the nicest in American's fleet, but their days are numbered as American is eliminating its Flagship First product and bringing in A321XLRs to serve the NYC-LA route. Now I'm sure those planes will be nice, but there's a certain aura of exclusivity to the "T" models that many travelers will miss.
I'm no business traveler, but I DO have a brother in Seattle we need to go visit. And I'd rather take a detour through New York to experience American's special plane before it goes away later this year. So come along and let's fly coast-to-coast on the A321T!

This channel deserves so many more subscribers. May they come in droves, asap. Love the gym, lounge, ATC inclusion. Super job!
Continental?
I agree
Peter is one of the most underrated Av guys on RUclips

love the addition of ATC audio 🛫
When I began my 37-year career as an AA Flight Attendant in May 1979 I worked Flight 1 and the returned the next day on Flight 2.
At the time, we flew the 747-200. American had 15 of them. We also took four 747s round trips to San Juan seven days a week. There were 67 First Class seats and a full-service bar and lounge on the upper deck. We also took a trip to JFK/SFO. We still flew the 707. Okay, enough. I retired 11 years ago and have only taken three flights. So today, when people complain to me about the negative issues of taking trips by air, I tell them this: Just expect delayed flights due to weather or mechanicals, late crews. You know the list. So If you expect those things and then your trip does not have any of these issues, consider yourself to have a better trip than expected. You sound like you expect way too much. Eventuallly, I was selected to take on the dual role as a Recruiter/New Hire Instructor. I would do that about 6 months each year.
Wow 😃 - thank you for sharing your story! Can only imagine how cool that 747-200 was. Flying seemed like it was a lot more special back in the day... and I've certainly learned to expect very little when flying today (at least for most of the flights I fly)... and that makes an experience like this (where you're actually treated like a human, your flight is on time, etc.) even more special

Love the AA T Shirt
Love your content
@@donaldknowles9640 thank you Donald, glad you enjoyed it!!
The amount of effort and care you put into your videos is second to none, another great trip report!

quite proactive that your seat was changed prior to boarding. I flew LAX-JFK IN FF, and the television did not work- FA's response was pretty much, oh , well. Also had to chuckle when my breakfast was served inside the metal dividers that are set-up by the catering company...never removed, it was beyond awkward and strange to say the least. The Chelsea lounge food is better than the Soho; most items are cooked to order.
I've flown the 321t twice between JFK & SFO. I'm glad I had the chance to do it. Definitely want to try the new flagship suites and premium economy on the 321xlr. I also love the twa hotel. Especially since I went through there back in 1999 as a passenger.
great review and great flight attendant giving you options for solutions for that they have to work on board, Also dude you have some well fit legs....just saying...haha!! Thanks for sharing your travels and new to your channel!
I had the pleasure of flying one of these from SFO to JFK last winter. More legroom than a normal narrow body, even in economy.
Good To See Real First Class On A Domestic Fligth.Great Trip Report
Excellent review, really appreciate the inclusion of the ATC audio and crew interactions. I’m also a big fan of the A321T and the AA transcon product. Significantly better than what UA offers with their 777HD
Thank you for sharing your flight here. Yes, I know what the PS Service on United was. I have worked a couple of those flight on my former airline.😊
Yes, I am glad you had a great early early morning transcon flight. Yes, I do miss and still love the 757s that my former had for PS Service! Having the First, Business and less seating in Economy Class was special to me.😊 The "A" Position or Purser Flight Attendant was really nice. And yes, I am a former Purser Flight Attendant from United.😊
@@LMays-cu2hp Awesome! Thank you for sharing
@@flaps1019 You are welcome.
Someone needs to have a talk with whoever decided to scrap the A321T cabins in favor of Oasis. Just makes AA that much more less competitive on transcon routes. Great video dude, been loving the content lately.
@@ASAviation totally agree and hope the XLRs show up before all the T’s get converted… but thanks for watching man, I aspire to put out quality content as frequently as you one day!!
I am flying this on Sunday and excited to see the product as well. I had to make the push to do it as the name of Flagship First is not named anymore, but the service and product is still there! Great review you did of it and again excited for Sunday to be in the air of the friendly skies of American!
@@DanSBT awesome - have a great trip and report back on how it goes!!
Great review. I like your style.
Great content... Your accent just makes it better .

Great trip❤the service looked 👏 Great video!
while the A321T will be going away, the premium experience for these routes will remain. American is replacing the A321T with the A321XLR which will contain 20 of American’s new Flagship Suites
Just found your channel, and I love a good travel vlog/trip report. And you presented a great trip report!! Earned a subscribe from me! Keep up the good work. I'll be binge watching some of your other videos!!
Thanks for comin along and glad you enjoyed it!! ☺
You have a new subscriber. Well done, I know this video took a while to make.
Great video! Subscribed now too. When I did that route semi-frequently, I preferred Jet Blue Mint over anyone else, then United
That coconut yogurt is actually really good! Also you can order avocado toast from the QR code as well as pancakes or french toast.
@@jiangni2236 good to know, will need to give it a try next time! It probably IS fresher than some of the hot items they were serving up 😂
Great video!
hope you've sent her a complimentary letter to her company telling them how good she was as a flight attendant
That flight attendant was great. ... I always bring a little gift for the FC/BC flight attendant when I board. ... And for this F.A.'s service, I would have tipped her $10.
Good content. 👍
You look like Michael Douglas from movie Falling Down😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

Did you squeeze the lime over the mango? That's a nice combo.
@@mrtodd3620 I did not - definitely a missed opportunity 😂
I think it would have been nice to have all of the breakfast items in a sandwich with some avocado in it.

The Tay Tay is so real 😂 I went to jfk at like 4am and they were having Taylor at full volume, don’t get me wrong though I love Taylor Swift
@@ethanpham3187 not my first choice but a lot better than some of the slower depressing music they play after hours at many airports 😂
They gotta rotate the lounge names every few years. The “Dumbo” lounge would go crazy
