This is an exceptional build of Yamato, my personal favourite class of battleship.
The only main issue's with this model, is of the anchor chains, these are correct for her original configuration, however they where repositioned in 43' as depicted by Janusz Skulski's drawings for his two Anatomy of the Ship series of books on Yamato, the second, published after Musashi was discovered in 2015. And most models don't have Yamato's later anchor chain differences.
I own Fujimi's, Next Yamato, and Aoshima's version, I plan to merge them and convert her as Musashi, as her original configuration.
I also plan to get Pit-Road's version of Musashi, it seems the most updated.
Still a great build of a legend.
Take care, and all the best.
i love to see you modelling because your camera is very good and the tweezers are fine, the best part is your modelling skills!
really love the build Alex, you did an outstanding job !!! the water is very nice, love the little texts you place with the explanation, very easy to follow like that
+jean grieten Thank you dor enjoying it! :)
i did absolutely enjoyed it indeed , very inspiring ;-)
+jean grieten Thank you!:)
That is pure excellence Alex! The shots with real sea are very cool :)
+SlovakianLynx Thanks! :D
The best battleship ever built along with the Iowa class, imagine how a Yamato vs Missouri battle would have been like!
iFuriiOG the USS Iowa was on her way to battle the IJN Yamato, but a small fleet of Japanese aircraft carriers distracted the Iowa from coming in contact with the Yamato, but to be honest it would of been a pretty awesome battle. Two titans against each other!
@@lacombe2463 Yea, Yamato with her 18 inch guns and her super thick armor belt vs Iowa with her speed and Fire control system
Great Video and a great Build too. As always ilove your work and your modells. Hope i can see soon something more. Have a nice time Alex, what ever you do!
you too Frank and thanks!
Great build, but the object at 6:09 is the upper part of the wind baffle and it needs to be set in front of the bridge(above the window). And the white paint on the top of the bridge is the mark for the flagship of the combined fleet of IJN, and the period that Yamato worked as a flagship is until Jan. 1943, and then it was returned to gray(this kit is modeled on the state of the ship in 1945). Anyway, I enjoyed your vid, thanks.
Happy to see you again. A real moment of pleasure. Thank you for this astounding work!
+Stéphane DAVID Thank you Stephane!
Awesome result, back to see you back! Great detail for a 1/700 kit, looks like a decent model.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks
Sir Rathalos Thank you my friend!
Hey Alex we been missing you. Very nice build and I must say your camera work is also very good. Thank you my friend. Bravo! from America
+Danny Montoya Thanks Danny! Cheers
That's just some insane detail in plastic Alex. I've only watched the first few minutes too (I need sleep) the rest I'll watch soon.
Great to see your work again.
hope you had a nice sleep Ian, and thanks as always
AlexModeling yes. Much rested thanks. Arrived at work early. So now sipping a coffee in the morning sun and watching a battleship being built :)
If only I had your subscriber numbers and comments on my videos lol.
+UKscalemodeller if i could my friend i would give you some... but believe me when i tell you... regarding revenue i don t earned that much... youtube messed up pretty bad... but its not a problem... i like it just the same... the thing is the algorithm makes you being constantly uploading if you want to earned something and we all have a life out there... the best thing here (not being hipocrit) is the interaction.. its very cool and interesting! :)
AlexModeling I'm not monetised, never intend to to be honest, it brings up too many complications.
UKscalemodeller why not? Could at least help you on yoir hobbie... thats the only intent for us small youtubers... but i understand
Looks great Alex very nice build
+rene stofregen hey Rene thanks! :)
Shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake that panel wash!
Sorry lol
Great job on this, I like the grey color. Love the diorama, with the water in the background! I should get back to my 1/350 one sometime soon.
Really enjoy these build vids. Excellent work Alex
+Armour Empire Hey Mark! Thanks! :)
Mine is Hasegawa 1/450 and you couldn't give credit to your eyes because it is not as refined as yours in 1/700. Great work of yours.
Hehe those outside shots should be fun walking with a model at the beach x)
+loulakion people did stop and stare... but it was cool! :)
Most enjoyable video of an interesting build, thank you Alex, Hope all is well with you? Best wishes my friend.
+Corrie Rynberk thank you Corrie its nice to "see" you.. one daya t a time my friend! :) cheers
Hey my brother Alex. Did a great job not only on the boat but the water as well. Thanks for the scenery too. I need to check out Guido. I have two boats and want them in the water
FUBAR Model Yard hello brother! Guiddo is THE master... you can obtain good results! :)
AlexModeling I've been watching his graf spee seascape. Will take years to reach his level.
+FUBAR Model Yard tottaly agree!:) but its a pleasure to watch!
AlexModeling it is and with a tremendous final
I have built a lot of model battleships that are quite moderate. I think I will give the yamato a try
Its an honorable, noble and fine adversary ship... A worth legend and all that served on board.
Thank you for this I got stuck on A5
I love you video build process. A pleasure to watch.
I also liked the alien at the beginning ;-)
+GYRUSS im a believer my friend! 😊 how are you? Hope you are well! 😁
Wow! It’s one of Water Line Series of Tamiya, isn’t it? The recreation or description of the surface of the sea is excellent, and looks nice even with the true sea. The word Yamato is the old name of Nara prefecture, but sometimes indicates Japan itself, because the first emperor declared the foundation of Japan there.
Hey Alex, whats the name of your last song? Btw I really love your building skills😍
Thank you! I really can t remember, i built this one sone years ago. Sorry
@@AlexModeling its ok alex.. btw..try to build montana battleship kit🤩.. just a suggestion.😇
🙂🙂👍
Can you paint the parts first in the superstructure before gluing? Can you hand brush them on the sprue? What do you think?
Why, when building guns and assembling other small pieces you're not painting them beforehand? I do it myself and it makes them look way better as the seam lines are visible
Great to see a video from you Alex, very nice 👍🏻🇦🇺
Thanks mate
Wow I think those models are better than the real ships👍
Great job Alex modeling
Thank you!
Beautiful work my friend really like your water effect maybe you could show us how you do it take care my friend
I think he did. It was in one of his vids 3 years ago :p not sure if its still up thou :)
+Neil Mackay working on a tutorial as we speak Neil! :)
Mr.Alex, thats a great vid on such a model, to fiddely for me :], a great job mine friend, good to see you still going, hope you being fine, take care and youre love ones, two thumbs up
+blatalus My friend how are you? Thanks do much! :)
I,m fine mine friend, thank you for asking, all the best
Outstanding craftsmanship!
i wonder what mm the drill needs to be, i was planning to buy a tamiya yamato after i get to a prestigious high school
most excellent build and my respect for building a ship model. they are so tricky :) you did a great job on the water effect, you never stop trying new things.
+Hamilkar Barkas it a lot od dun Michael! Next stop... Bismarck from trumpeter at 1/700 😁
mhhhhh Bismarck :) that is cool!
+Hamilkar Barkas I bought it cheap on ebay... and a PE set complete for it for... 10 Euros on an auction on ebay too! So it will be interesting
You inspired me to make a ship model
i always wonder what might've happened if big Axis capital ships like the Tirpitz and Yamato had survived the war...I recon had they survived, they probably would've been used for the nuclear tests at Bikini atoll like Nagato and Admiral Hipper. But Imagine if Yamato survived to this day and was laid up in Yokosuka or Kure where she was built. I would've loved to have seen that
+ValkyrieBSG What a show it would be! Even Nagato or hipper deserved better luck! But ita war... i guess
ValkyrieBSG they’d probably be scrapped... but Tirpitz And Yamato preserved next to Iowa would be amazing
Naww fuck the tirpitz. Bismarck man and fook the yamato her sister ship musashi did more
aQuestionableQuestion It was the Prinz Eugen, not her sister ship Admiral Hipper, but seeing Yamato in real life today would be amazing! I always think, if she didn’t sink, she would have been subject to the 2 nuclear blasts of Operation Crossroads, but what if she didn’t take part in that? She might have served in the US navy! Think about it, and enemy battleship working on the navy that wanted to see her destroyed. Who knows, she might have been turned into a museum ship! I really don’t know why they didn’t save Prinz Eugen or Nagato, they were great ships.
Great work Alex
G’day Alex, great build, love the water effects!
I know this build was a while back but I’m checking out some Yamatos on RUclips as I’ve started the Tamiya 1/350, not the premium, version. Having a lot of fun with it so far, even though I’ve only just started. I don’t know if you’ve built another Yamato since this one, with PE, like you said?
But I had a good look around at detail sets for mine and couldn’t come to terms with, roughly. A $200au price tag for the big detail kits from Pontos etc. I mean, you get a lot for your money with those sets, but it’s a bit rich for my blood.
I had a look on eBay and found a wooden deck and PE set for roughly $50au, and I thought, why not? If it’s junk I haven’t done the farm. Anyway, really long story short. I’m loving the PE so far. It’s a delight to work with and has some beautiful detail on it.
The company is just someone out of China, Chuanyu. I think the model number is CYE023. I haven’t installed the wooden deck yet, but you get some other goodies too like anchor chain, 3D printed turrets etc. The instructions are pretty basic but I’m finding I can decipher it ok. There’s a distinct lack of English, or any other language other than Chinese. But they have pictures. 😉
I have ordered a basic Eduard set as well that should compliment this set, for roughly the same price, so I’m hoping I’ll be loaded with PE for roughly half the price of the big players.
Anyway, thanks for your indulgence. I’ll have a look around to see if you’ve done a PE build of the Yamato yet. If not, when you do, email me and I might be able to give you an update on how I went with my cheapy set. 👍
All the best Alex.
Alex my friend, nice to see a new video from you!! ✌👌
Hi Alex. Hope u could help me... instructions tells u to open holes for side mg's. The problem is i forgot to do it before painting the deck. Even worse, i made the holes too big. Is there any way i can fix that?
What a fantastic job al, brill build ! Really excellent!
+Mottys Military Models - Steve Mottram Thanks:)
So happy to see you back modeling...
thank you
Please I have a question , Im building tamiya yamato 1/350 and it goes extreemly well, but I dont know hot to assemble a flag , when I cut it out , what do I do next , put it in water, glue it , I cand find annythyng , thanks!

@@AlexModeling thank you very much , I appreciate it!

+Juan Jose Villegas muchas gracias! Edtoy trabajando en este momento en el Bismarck 1/700 de trumpeter😊

Thanks! This was a lot of fun to build! 🙂
Awesome build
Thanks Joe!
Is the drill provided with the box
Great construction and beautiful water my friend 👌. The kit has so many small parts. I have a question about you, I am also a glasses wearer. What a magnifying glass you use, that would interest me!? Take Care Mate.
+Freakazoid aka Ben well... i use THE MOST POWEFULL LENS I CAN GET MY EYES INTO!!😂😂😂😂 i noticed that after 41 my eyes just went from bad to worse! :) but when using this.. rest a bit.. otherwise your eyes will also pay the price! How the wife? And the baby?
AlexModeling thanks for the Warning. I would like to buy a magnifying glass, to safe my eyes. My family is doing well. My little girl has two teeth and wants to crawl. 😄 I hope you're also doing well.
I am going to put this on my Christmas list I want it so bad.
Great build, you make it look so easy. Really liked the the last few minutes, were where you filming that? Glad your back.
+USS SARATOGA CV3 LeFevre Thanks! I filmed ot in the city of Oporto, Portugal... i go through tbere every day ridding a horse and on patrol! :)
I want to get into building ships. (I have a ww1 destroyer and a sub in the stash) any tips?
I want to get into building ships. (I have a ww1 destroyer and a sub in the stash) any tips?
Someone on RUclips from Japan did a comparison build of the Yamato with pitroad, Aoshima and Fujimi. The Aoshima kit was noticeably smaller in width(bulk). I suspect it may have been closer to 1/720 or even 1/800. Unfortunately, this reviewer didn't include the Tamiya kit in the comparison.
how many centimeters is the model long?
It has instructions right?
how many centimers long is that?
Great Job my friend!!!
thank you Louis, my regards to you and family and a very special regard to my brother in arms , your son
Which model is better Tamiya or Fujimi?
can i know what are the tools needed to put this together
Why didn't you paint a red stripe on the ship's hull of the Yamato?
Id take a bunch of sleeping pills if I had to put this together.
nice battleship Alex! :)
+CapLAGOS hey Cap how are you? Nice to see you!
we are fine! :) i told you...just Need a break....but i´m still buying models on eBay....:)))
+CapLAGOS AHAHAHA.. who isn t?? Where do you think this one came from?😂😂😂
How big is it
ヤマトじゃなくて大和のほうがいいと思います
exelent video friend
+arq daniel fleiman Thank you!
Is that Afurada and Arrabida bridge i spy? :D
Yes it is... Well spyed! :)
Just one question, how do you keep the dust from settling on them, especially the rigging?
This one goes to someone who already has an acrilic box :)
What items did you used in making this model for example what glue, paints, tools, etc.please tell
Looking realy great. and great video. very good job. :-)
is this model kit still available? with full hull
I think so
@@AlexModeling the one I found lately only comes with waterline 😐
MR CEMENT S AND MR CEMENT SP.WHICH IS BETTER?
I made that before. The pieces of the warship are extremely small. It literally disappeared when I dropped them on the ground.
Hey how do you stick the riging
How do you clean Tamiya's Panel Liner so easily? I am having problem to remove it since it dry out even a bit.
Enamel thiner or white spirit mate!
Como sempre sem nenhum erro👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👀
By the way, where do you get these models? can you give me a link?
nice
super build
where do you get that sanding block from?
what type of glue do you use?
Total Awesomeness ...
Thanks
Are there any non waterline?
ONLY in 1:350 scale i think. Not sure
I need to make this Yamato 3 days
I dont have an airbursh
Is it ok to just paint with a paintbrush?
Probably
Yes! Just use some thinner on the paints a bit of pslacience and soft paintbrush strokes
Wow ur good at this, I’ve only made 2 model ships. King George the 5 and the Missouri
How long did I take you to build
25 days
Can I just use paint brush to paint it
My friend, on modeling i really, TRULLY think that you only need ONE THING!! TO HAVE FUN!:):) if you don t have an airbrush, use a brush... i don t have a brush.. just glue it! What matters is tpu enjoy it and above all... HAVE FUN!!:):) cheers
Build bismarck
I am building it! :)
Nice! May I know what thread you use for the rigging? I tried using my wife's sewing thread but when I pull to make it taunt the antena broke. Then I tried using fishing line at first it looks ok but after a day or 2 it starts to coil back and break off from the glue. :(
ualuuanie not sure what Alex used but try something called ez line. I've used it for aircraft rigging and antennas
Cool may I ask where you get it from? A hardware shop or an art shop?
ualuuanie actually found it on eBay. Search for ez line. There's various sizes and colors
+FUBAR Model Yard Its exactly what i use.. EZ LIne! :D
+ualuuanie iys called EZ Line... try on ebay! Its elastic and very light.. reacts fast wirh CA glue
Awesome Vid Alex💖💖💖💖
Im excited to get my Yamato.
just gotta ask first.
what kind of paint are you using?
Hello ! !
Thanks for that video ! !
I have a question: is it an obligation to use a Primer ? or can we paint directly on the model without using primer ?
Thanks in advance,
Have a great day ! !
Always use a primer first! :)
@@AlexModeling thanks ^^
@@AlexModeling why do you need a primer?
Unifies the surface, show us imperfections, and prepares plastic for paint
what did you use for the rigging?
EZ Line
i like your work and im trying to learn something but the music is DISTRACTING !!!!!
🙂👍👍👍
Do you know any pre-painted battleships?
No i don`t
Fujimi next 1/700 series..check it out
What is pe set

how long did this one take
+red baron modeling 3 or 4 weekes... it was a fun and light build!
Another great video my friend! You inspired me to get my own one! Also she looks amazing! + How did u do the cables and lines?
EmilBuilds se will you make a video of it? I'd like to see another of these done.
