I often think, as a thought experiment: What if they were all aliens from all over the universe that came to Earth a long long time ago, because the conditions here were so rare and perfect - what would you think of them and how would you treat them? and how much more would we value our precious blue planet? And so I say a big loving thank you to all these little miracles and all that they do for us and our ecosystem. X

Will insects and others grow bigger now we are heating up. I live in Ireland and our weather system is changing, less rain and the spin off from that . Is this good or bad for us , I don't know. We have a population growing in number's . So I don't know about the resources for the number's coming.

As an entomologist, I'm somewhat dissapointed by the documentary, also because of this Coyote Peterson guy. Especially in the first few minutes, the film empathized a particular approach to insects, by focusing on their association with decay, by associating them to pain and danger. It hurts me as if someone would talk badly about a beloved one! Why can't people just appreciate insects for all of their other fascinating facets? Of course there are arthropods which are painful, of course there are many which feed on decaying matter. I also got bitten and stung. But if you dive deeper into the subject, you soon learn that most are pretty, clean and friendly. We where taught to perceive insects as disgusting and dangerous by horror movies and sensationalist media. 21:38 "It looks like an alien!" I mean what the f*ck, have you ever seen an alien? Are they more familiar to you than insects? What a twisted world. Also, I think this way of portraying insects is quite specific to the US, although it can also be seen in some European documentaries. However, if the movie helped some people to appreciate Insects more, I'm more than happy! I'm not against fascination for the dark and dangerous, I just miss the appreciation for the complexity of insects beyond that. Keep going, look behind the curtain!

First thing you see-almost-in this title, “Insecta...,” is a scorpion! Is this a ‘thing’ now? I seem to be seeing a lot of titles with the word “monkey” in them, but the presentation is about apes, not monkeys. Same with confusing spiders, or diplopods, or mites with insects. Is the taxonomic commonality, ‘Arthropoda’, too pedantic?, not sexy enough? Or what?
