Holy canoli, thank you! I played flute YEARS ago in middle and high school (and was pretty good!) But decided after 24 years to learn French Horn. These videos have been wildly helpful and I'll definitely repeat this one before moving to Lesson 4. Thank you again. These videos are wonderful!
These lessons are actually one of the best I've seen on this app. My problems are just keeping a note and at the high notes my lips are tired and just fall back. Either way I'm making progress.
@Luis Muñoz ok this comment made me really happy because I got to reflect on my progress, my band instructor gave me a double horn because I was progressing faster than he thought I would. Right now I can hit a high A above the staff, The horn has become more natural and I can manage to play 16th notes, I do kinda need to work on tone still, I've learned to play mellophone as well. Other than that if I managed to keep on practicing regularly I would get even better. :)
@Luis Muñoz I'm the same :) I started violin in 5th grade and in 8th grade I tried band and ended joining as a horn 🥳, and I don't really have a favorite piece but rather just really like pieces with long notes since that's what I like hearing the horn with, especially when it blends in with the whole band
Hi! Are you still giving lessons? My son learned more from your videos than he has any other way, in class or with a tutor. If you're still giving lessons, please let me know.

@Luis Muñoz I've only ever played band pieces so a childhood hymn and teslas dream are really nice
I think you are my new favorite teacher

In this lesson, your CEG are different tones than on the piano. The piano tones are FAC. Why? Thx.
That's because the horn is a transposition instrument. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transposing_instrument
im not sure if my horn is in F or Bb 😭
