Classic Game Room reviews the TOP GUN Konami handheld video game from 1989. This Top Gun LCD game plays like the Top Gun game on NES or Afterburner from Sega. I was the doner of that LCD game (9 years ago!)
I remember playing it on the hospital waiting room when I was a kid (lots of allergies, thankfully gone)
Still brings me joy to know it's in good hands, playable and fun ❤

I had a couple of those as a kid, with different games. I got countless hours of fun out of them. Today I wonder how.

You can be Top Gun Super Fan #1 so long as I get to be Iron Eagle Super Fan #1, lol! See there are good LCD handhelds, wish I still had that racing LCD game I had as a kid, it even had turns and pit stops, but it broke long ago.
Classic game from my childhood I didn't beat the game but man was it fun

Memory unlocked! I had this and i'm sure my cousing had a TMNT version, which we swapped now and again.
Great sountrack album. I have a vinyl of it too. Mark, you could make the audio in your video's less loud? The volume levels are really loud compared to others, I always have to adjust the volume control. I quite like the NES game, landing on the carrier is easy once you know how.
I played w the screen cover still on for years like an idiot..peeled it off and loved it 2 year later
Had and still do have the TMNT game from this series of handhelds :) great little game also, thumbs up for all those that owned this too.

There are Three Stages, Where You Must Eliminate Your Enemies... Enemy Planes (10 Points), Enemy Boats (30 Points), and Enemy Missiles (100 Points)
Remember this as my favorite handheld when I was a kid. Never owned it but the idea was you passed these around during the day with friends, so as long as you had one (I owned a terrible Disney Aladdin one where the box showed a health bar but in the game your invulnerable which is why it was so bad)
Reminds me of those old electromechinal arcade shooting games, It's basically the exact same thing with the lcd replacing the projected images.

I tried playing the VHS version of Top Gun with my Action Max just a bit ago to try and simulate the game you shown here and it didn't work out too well. :(
Top gun was a great movie and the soundtrack is really good too. That handheld however doesn't impress me much lol.

Should try to review Top Gun for the Commodore 64. Now, there's the kind of game that would have been expected on this. No thrills. No physics. A total waste of existence. Yet, with so little, they did a fine job.

Konami's always been one of the biggest names in gaming with some of the most successful franchises ever and still get that praise and success with their current releases. They aren't going anywhere lol.

I have the exact same piece of shit in green with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on it. Horrible.
I had the Ninja Turtles one as well, though I remember loving it. Though I had to turn the sound down if I played near anybody as they said it was too loud.
