  • Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn says that the UK faces an "unprecedented situation" and accuses the prime minister of having led the UK into " constitutional crisis".
    He says that "she achieved nothing" at the summit over the weekend, "she has not made any progress at all".
    The Commission has been "categorical" that there will be no further re-negotiations. He says that the prime minister "no longer has the backing of her Cabinet".
    He lists the Cabinet members who are secretly working on other options, including some who are working for a second referendum.
    "An unacceptable deal is on the table," he says, and no reassurances have been offered.

      Don't insult him for no reason. Him merely voicing an opinion doesn't exactly cause you pain and suffering.
      It's not an *easy* choice, however - that's a simplistic and ideologically driven view. The referendum happening doesn't change the fact that it's a legal quagmire, and not unlike trying to remove a donated organ decades after implantation without the use of anesthesia. The deadline is only next year, too.
      Her majesty said in October that she looked forward to a new relationship with the European Union. That's characteristically good natured, but it doesn't lean strongly one way or another. I'd link it for you, but your inclination to anger dissuades me from helping you further.

      fred smith it was Mayniac’s choice to arrogantly and stupidly call an election, thinking the electorate would vote how she wanted them to, no matter how utterly contemptible her election campaign was and how often she talked down to people, and in the hope that the electorate would give her such a huge majority that it would make her a dictator for what it’s worth. Mayhem was wrong. It backfired. And now it’s her that’s politically impotent. On top of that, she’s had two and-a-half years to put something together that the majority of MPs could get behind. Her abject failure to do this is on a scale I never thought possible. And history will bury her for it.

    The 3 questions asked could be readily answered by a Commons vote. There is no reason the Tories should be allowed to stall any longer as even they admit that the deal will be May's deal. If not, she lied in her response.
    The speaker must step in to bring the vote forward. Delaying is destroying businesses and jobs.

    • @alasdairduncan3

      The Tories are stalling any progress by simultaneously saying that every single viable option would be a heinous mistake. No deal would destroy jobs and livelihoods of those who can afford it least. Kay's deal is a difficult compromise aimed at limiting the damage. Give the people tangible options to vote on and let them decide on the country's future.
      It has never been not will ever be 'undemocratic' to give people a vote, especially when the options are so much more specific and well substantiated.

    • @kal9001
      @kal9001 5 лет назад

      @@alasdairduncan3 Mays deal is designed to put britain into a condition ripe for re-entry once we have been "punished" enough and the public are softened by another 2-5 years of gruelling 'brexit' austerity, lack of trade and legal issues we'll be begging to hit the "undo" button the EU will undoubtedly provide to allow a super quick re-entry if we surrender the by then decimated pound and accept full membership with no exemptions.
      Perhaps this was the plan all along, the answer proposed 20 odd year old question of how to actually break the UK's national spirit which has until now blocked EU naturalisation, to get us onto the Euro and to remove the exemptions and rebate we've enjoyed so far, and also how to crush any and all anti-EU movements by setting a shining example of just what leaving means...
      I'm all for a united europe, I feel we have many things in common, and a great many friends and family across borders, however the EU as an institution is evil, and dangerous and must be resisted! The EU is slowly turning into a fascist state, seeking more and more power and centralising that power in the executive branch and its administration, rather than in the parlement.

    The electoral process is effective, but it isn't fair. Elections are done by electoral votes, not popular votes. Electoral votes are voted by elected representatives of the state who formally elect the president. We do not need redundancy (elected
    representative), we can vote ourselves and the presidential election should be based on popular vote, this way all Votes are counted. Wake up America, this is how the minority control the majority. Do what is Right vs. White
    Remove the Electoral Process/Vote. We have the technology to count every vote in America. Presidential elections are American wide, not State Wide. Remove the state out of the equation and just count the votes from all American Citizens to decide on our president. REMOVE ELECTORAL PROCESS, so this will never happen again. God is Good, God is here, and God will deal with those who choose to stay in the dark.

To me this spells something plainly. public need to stop trusting the two main parties whilst they pass the buck. We've spent too long with the, it will be different this time, attitude. Time to turn our backs and if there is no alternative, create one. Not voting is just giving our concession for the same to continue and the ballot box is the only way to bring the fear of a threat to their power back to them.

If any other EU countries were thinking about splitting, they'll change their mind once they see what a complete disaster it will be for the UK, 'pour encourager les autres' as Voltaire would remind us...

    Now, had the people, industry and government just spent two years openly, candidly and honestly preparing for independence, in accordence with the leave vote, whilst symultanously negotiating a closer arrangement with the EU, because that is also what many people appear to want, then the EU would be under no illusions of Britains intent, resolve and its competance to prepare, the trade agreements fully negotiated and awaiting signature and this roll on 29 March if the EU did not want a mutually respecting and progressive relationship with us.

    As Mr Corbyn said, it's a national crisis, is not it our responsibility to face the crisis collectively irrespective of political ideology? In that case, rather than only criticizing Mrs May, the PM, why does not Mr Corbyn suggest a best way out to the British public so that people can think about it?

      No, the referendum was leave or remain. However how this is negotiated is where we expect our politicians to shine. Instead there has been a steady process of bad decision-making. Much of what May has done has been shoddy or reckless.

    • @AtheistEve
      @AtheistEve 5 лет назад

      What about the large chunk of people who voted to remain? And the huge load of people who didn't vote? One of the first things the UK electorate did after the referendum was to reduce May's strength in the commons - so that was a clear indication that this was never going to go well for her and her weak government.
      Many of those who voted to leave _do_ want to accept their vote and their chant is "Brexit means Brexit" (whatever that means). However, the terms of the referendum were not clear enough - and importantly there was not a large enough margin one way or the other to make it decisive. Cameron should have stipulated a substantial difference between leave and remain in order to trigger the process.

    • @AtheistEve
      @AtheistEve 5 лет назад

      The people who promised to spend millions on the NHS instead of giving it to "Brussels fat cats" were UKIP, Boris Johnson and the rest of the Leave campaigners. They ran away as soon as it came to the actual nitty gritty of leaving. The conservatives didn't pledge to spend any more money on the NHS if people voted to leave the EU. In [edit] fact, I expect they will spend even less because they show every intention of privatizing it bit by bit. Leaving the EU will give them the excuse to make even more hard cuts to public services and squeeze us all through continual austerity measures.
      People who vote conservative vote for austerity and poverty for the majority and lives of ease and wealth for the 1%.

    Question? Do we live in a democracy? Do we believe in free speech? Do we believe in democratic voting? The people of Britain have voted democratically for Brexit, therefore job done, Brexit means Brexit! If Corbyn and his cronies dont believe in the democratic voting system, feel free to leave the Uk and join non democratic EU.

    • @AtheistEve
      @AtheistEve 5 лет назад

      We had a referendum on leaving the EU not on something called "Brexit", which was a term dreamed up by the media and UKIP.
      Leaving the EU could mean _anything._ From no deals to staying in the customs union and allow freedom of movement. We could even join Schengen and the Euro and still be out of the EU.
      The only thing we get from leaving the EU is no longer having voting rights on EU policies and laws. If we want to trade with EU countries we will probably have to start from scratch and still have to abide by their policies in order to trade.
      This video shows the UK democracy in action. Well, inaction because May has halted the debate.
