This will be an awesome game, just like sonic frontiers, when they patch in the FSR 2.0. Just cyberpunk 2077 has it for now but this game really could use it a lot too.

Interesting that you say "Return to Relevance" in this video's title. I'm only a few hours in, and really like SO6 so far! And I know a few JRPG fans are calling it one of their favorite games of the year (a strong year for JRPGs too).
But I find it hard to say this game's storied old developers are more "relevant" now, when the game is barely over 70 metacritic, getting review-bombed by "users" with some unknown agenda, and selling ... not so many copies. Only around 50k physical copies have been sold on PS5+PS4 in Japan, and that is very disappointing. Let's hope that genre fans in the west buy this fun game in large enough numbers to keep Tri-Ace alive. But "relevant"? Unlikely.

Yeah, I'm being very generous when saying it's relevant. I just mean it's making a comeback when looking at how bad SO5 was. 20 points lower and universally panned by reviewers. It's something that's more relevant to me though. I bought SO6 without much faith in the game, fully prepared to eat the cost and my time. Now I have some hope that they can make something entertaining.
It generally had a much better reception reviewers so I expect it to bring back some people who gave up on the series. Likely not a lot but still something. Also gotta "click bait" somehow.

@@JRPGFanatic LOL got it! And SO6 is definitely a relevant game in my personal 2022 as well, feeling very positive.

I am actually talk to those one of those reviewer that give low score on discord. They hate Start Ocean series and want it dead so tri-Ace can make Valkyrie Profile . Some of them write review while only 7 hours into the game, some not even finish 2 route to get full story and characters development ( both route give alot of development for characters and villian that make the story more clear ) .
There are surely agenda around on Metacritic . That said this fanbase for some reason not really bother try to combat those .

@@thelegendaryjanitor2008 It is very, very common for JPRGs to get reviewed by people who don't even like JRPGs -- sad but true. They can't stand to spend 20 hours playing this genre of game, much less 50+. This means metacritic averages are usually 5-10 points too low for games in the genre (except Persona 5, for some reason that's "cool" to like).
I would assume as you do that several of those reviewers don't even get close to finishing the games, but just write something they think will fake it well enough. Those of us reading can always tell when they haven't understood key mechanics, or gotten to the second half of the game's story. I'm happy to disagree with thoughtful reviewers who have valid criticisms, but not with lazy reviewers who don't even like the genre of game -- it's just sad that those people have a significant effect on the sales of a game. There are still gamers in 2022 who base whether or not they should buy a game on its metacritic score ... or even on the review of one person on their favorite site. Yikes!

You call yourself a JRPG Fanatic yet don't enjoy getting better stats and buying better gear? That's like 90% of the entire genre!

Hahhaha ive been saying this for a while every game now a days needs a fast forward button and possible save state lol. Just like tales of berseria im not a fan of that damn ap bar it reallly slows combat down and even with the flying mechs just makes the game a dread at times given sponge enemies.
