As someone in the arts world (I've worked in both galleries and museums, plus my grandparents own an art framing business) I am super stoked on how much you are centering art and artists on your channel, encouraging people to support artists vs. mass produced art, and am loving watching you discover the variety of mating and framing and art lighting options out there! I feel like you are truly doing a public service announcement for the arts community in a big way, and I am here for it ❤
Paige, you should do a video on just finding pillows or coffee tables/decor! Your rug video helped me so much but I need help with other things in our house ❤
Paige, I’ve spent the last eight days in Chicago on my first overnight trip here, and I’m leaving so inspired. The neighborhood we stayed in is beautiful, with its stunning homes, charming shops, incredible architecture, and nearby bodies of water. I didn’t get a chance to stop by Dial M for Modern, which just means we’ll have to come back! My mom joined us during the trip, and she agrees-she loves it even more than NYC. You rep your city well!
Touch of tech!! Omigosh, I've never met or heard of anyone who agrees with me on this. Tech adds some character to a home. This is also why I'm against paneling over kitchen appliances. Thats a work space! Don't pretend like it's not!
paige! can you do a video about your style? ex. your favorite places to buy basics, source cool tees & jewelry? I always love your outfits in these vids
Salvador Dalí had a mirror in his bedroom which reflected the first rays of the rising sun onto his bed, to be (according to him) the first person in Spain to see the sunrise every morning
LOVE collecting art by friends!! Before moving away for college after high school, I had a going away party with all my hometown friends with lots of paint and canvases to make art that I could take with me to my studio apartment in Chicago. I've also collected set lists from my friends shows who ended up getting their band signed later on, and bought/commissioned flash from my tattooer friends while they were still apprenticing who now own their own shops! Love displaying these little snippets of time throughout my home. 🧡
Fun stuff. Love it all! I recently framed a poem by Mary Oliver to put on my tea setup in the kitchen. It all sits on a cool mishappen worn out wooden tray with some handmade pottery filled with rocks found on our journeys, long, latte hanging spoons I got in Slovenia, my electric stainless tea pot (on a brass trivet we received as a wedding gift decades ago) and another funky antique piece. The poem sits on the edge of the tray and leans agains the backsplash. Many mornings when I make green tea, I take a moment to meditate on Oliver's wise words. "If I wanted a boat I would want a boat I couldn't steer." I have another of her poems tacked up in my office with a funky pin. As an artist and writer, the meaning of it all makes my heart sing. p.s. Going to start looking for a small table to put beside our huge bathrub. 🙂
I’m concerned for family in FL with the onset of Hurricane Milton, so I really can use this reminder at the end to “release it and let go” because I’ve been doom scrolling socials to keep getting updates from the other side of the country. Thank you ❤️
I realized watching this video that you remind me of some of the FM DJs I would listen to at night in bed when I was a kid in the 70s (ask your parents), so a night video seems a propos lol. You would have made a great 70s FM DJ!
you should do a video where people send you what they want to do to their home / projects they’re saving up for! and you can give suggestions. would be cute
DIY matting is really difficult without the proper equipment. The cheap cutters are almost impossible to get a good result from. And the decent ones cost $1000+. I'd recommend getting a framing shop to cut it for you or ordering one custom online.
Artist here with an MFA and also special collections librarian … traditionally mating is only for photos ( to hide edges of photo paper ), for prints & drawings most collectors/galleries/museums pin or use various glass or plexi with brackets or magnets! Obvi anyone can do what they want but thought would be good to provide some insight into the standard! Love your content ❤
hey paige! I know you’re big on thrifted pieces but you should make a series going to different big name stores (homegoods, hobby lobby etc.) showing what’s an absolute no and stuff you think you could actually bring into your home :) i think that would be fun
You should do an analysis of Lucy Williams’ interior style! She has such great and unique taste. I feel like you guys have similarities in your style and I know you love that English country aesthetic!!
Paige I'm obsessed with your videos they have been my life for a month. I can't get enough of your design and style. Do you have suggestions for a small living room and dining room combo with all carpet? Do you put carpet on carpet to make spaces? What should I do?!!!!
Funny you mentioned matting. About 13 years ago I finally acquired a handful of prints I’d been wanting forever and took all of them to Aaron Bros. for framing (before they went out of business). I’d never had anything professionally framed before so I kinda played around with it. Anyway . . . I just so happened to triple mat one piece, with color, and it came out really nicely! Some pieces I didn’t have matted at all. I just went with my gut.
bench cushion or bench seat. I luv them. I always remove individual cushions for a bench cushion on my sofas. It's cleaner looking. Vera scarfs from the 40s, 50s, 60s are great for collecting and framing. The colors and prints are abstract and very cool. Great video Paige.
I've been thinking about framing a sheet that my grandmother embroidered for her wedding set. The sheet is more than 80 years old and the embroidery is perfect and it's very beautiful, the dilemma is that I can't frame the complete sheet and I'm not sure how to do it. Anyway, if I do I'll send you photos😅
I embroider for fun, and I iron the heck out of the piece, mount it to like a poster board that’s sticky on one side, and frame that on my own! It’s not perfect, but it’s affordable and looks good
There are these deeper frames. Maybe that could work? But I hav to say the glass of my frame is almost bursting under the pressure of all that fabric 😂
I'm glad you are growing out the bangs. It was a fun change but you never seemed comfortable with them and I think long hair in the front suits you. I say encourage the wave in your hair more. It will give you more dimension without a lot of effort. Just get some mousse or a light curl cream and finger coil it then loosen it once it's dry. On another note. I would love to see you put a few traditional pieces in your home. I watched an old video from when you first moved in. You said you didn't want to many old pieces because of the home style but I think a few older than mid-century pieces would really pop.
I found an amazing arts and crafts wool crewel embroidered bag made in England at a thrift store in Forestville California. Go figure. I had it conservation framed and it hangs in my studio as part of a gallery wall. It's approaching 100 years old and definitely a conversation piece.
Hi-Tech architecture and design came after Postmodern so was only a matter of time though chrome has been doing his thing for a year or two now. I came of age during the Hi-Tech movement so have an Artemide Tolomeo and large, solid aluminium tealight holder from my youth that’s looking good again.
If you like a long sofa look at the one in Kettle's Yard in Cambridge UK. Was owned by Jim Ede and his wife. Its the most amazing house so you should look it up!
Hi Paige, I just wanted to share a quick tip for your safety. It’s best to avoid sharing details about where you live or the specific places you hang out with friends. Keeping this information private helps protect you and your loved ones. Stay safe and keep up the great work!
Can I say one thing though? If your friend is a starving artist, don't expect them to give you their work for free. I mean, maybe they will, but don't ask for free art.
Hmmmm, I think most starving artists don't have a shortage of pieces, more of a problem of a shortage of buyers? Because if they don't actually make art, then they are not artists by definition. Anyway, in case of a shortage of buyers it might actually help to have someone (especially a person activelly on the internet) feature the art. Saying that, you're likely right anyway, it would be kinder to just buy the art. If someone can ofc.
I love and enjoy your channel. I’ve learnt a lot from you and , of course you’re a sweetheart 😊 And make sure you PAY for the arts your friend gift you🤯 What a thing to say!!!! Oh well…. I agree I think your bangs would look lovely if they grow a little longer. Kind of framing your lovely face or as you said just grow them out😊 Thanks a bunch for another great video🙆🏻♀️🙏👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
