One thing about runes of ascendance that I feel like requires mentioning is that you CANNOT get uniques that drop specifically from bosses via that method. I've seen plenty of new players lament the fact that they're trying to get a specific boss unique and "have spent tons of runes of ascendances with no luck". Only world drop uniques are available in RoA pool!
I was one of those players lamenting, but luckily I did get a LP3 Dragonsong for my troubles when I was using COF prophecies trying to farm Reign of Winter. Then that Dragonson turned into a crazy Legendary that I now use!
resist system in LE is different from traditional resist system like Diablo or PoE. Your real resist is actually the zone level - your resist, for example if you're in lv75 lvl, the net resist is zero, for doing empower (lv100 zone) cap 75% resist means -25% net resist. So actually if you've only 70 resist, you're only suffering -130% damage vs -125% damage, a very small percentage. The similar case in Poe or Diablo, if you have only 70% resists while the game expect you to have 75%, you will get 30% damage rather than 25% damage, a net increase of 20%. Being said that, resists are rather easy in the game and you should be capping them at end game.
It is worth mentioning that Runes of ascendance aren't the only way to get uniques in monoliths. But they are very useful for getting uniqued that you need/want, but can't quite target farm yet. You can use monoliths themselves, and the circle of fortune prophecies. I have found that CoF is really nice for this, especially as you advance through their ranks, and gain access to the focusing lenses they offer, allowing you to narrow the prophecies you get more and more. But they're not always as easy to pull off, requiring completion of dungeonsbat specific, often higher tiers. But they'll often require doing monoliths, too, so they're always worth checking out, whenever you have a giant pile of favor burning a hole in your pocket.
If you take my extreme bad luck into account, I would need an item with about 70 forging potential to get anything decent. I'm level 75 and everything I have ever crafted so far has either only barely improved before running out of forging potential or actually came out worse. At this point I literally just run with whatever I find on the ground as it is. I dont bother crafting anymore.
@@Lupin788 Yes I always have it on but it seems like it hardly ever procs. And not only that but the forging potential it takes from me for doing little things seems excessive. I get all excited if it has anything over 20 FP and then I do just one or two things to it and suddenly I'm at like 5 and the item is trash. I really think I just have terrible luck, Ive seen other people craft and things just go so much smoother for them rng-wise.
@@Saphire_Throated_Carpenter_Ant you arent alone. The forge hates me. Even when hope does proc the very next tweak seems to use extra FP. Plus one the tune of removal is always, repeat always removes the one im trying to keep, pisses me off. I do like how D4 handles that. Pick one affix you want to change and that is the only one that can ever be changed at the cost of multiplicative gold. LE is immensely harder to get the peice you really want.
I have a problem and want to make the Bulwark shield legendary, but I can't put it in the device because it requires it to be at least level 50. don't fully understand that. Anyone able to help ?
You need LP to be able to turn your uniques to legendaries. If yours do not have LP, you need to farm a copy which has some. Easiest way is to farm empowered monoliths with specific nodes while being in the Circle of Fortune faction.
Thanks so much for the tips. I have joined CoF. I am completing all the vanilla monoliths 1st; or should I hop into the empowered ones? I just got here 2 days ago and have much to learn.@@KimParkkinen
Just rush through the normal monoliths and try completing the ones on the right side of the screen first, since those blessings give actual character boosts (the ones on left give stuff like chance to find specific types of items and stuff, which in normal monoliths is just not worth it. Make your way to the three timelines on top, clear them and get to the empowered monoliths. If your build can't handle those at the point you unlock them you can still go back to the normal monos to level and gear up so it is not really a loss to rush the unlocks!@@Robbie529wastaken
I'm pretty sure there are good runemaster lootfilters on maxroll. The necromancer filter I got from there was made by one of the developers themselves.

7:20 Doesn't rune of research SEAL the experimental affix from an experimental item? I don't think it SLAPS an experimental affix on a random item.

You also get tons of rep from spending your favor, so you really shouldn’t be stacking a ton up

have you been crafting on exalted gear (purple) or rare/magic (gold/blue)?
Exalted gear has far more FP than the latter
Are you using the Glyph of Hope?

This was so simple, to the point, and a wealth of knowledge. Thank you for posting it.
Thank you for this
They really need to buff sets. I would love to see set bonuses like d3.

Items are a bit lacking. Has a lot of potential for the future, should be a good game in a year.
This isn’t D4
