This is not a fancy schmacy show knife; it's a working knife for a working person. I would be very happy to carry this knife on my belt. Your work is very special and your video is the tops.
Nice knife, looks like a beast of a work knife 👍👍 You need to get a respirator and maybe improve your ventilation system if you're gonna keep working with galvanized steel my guy. That smoke is NOT good to be breathing.
It seems like so many smiths on RUclips & Forged in Fire try to uncoil the steel cable, which I always thought was weird and super time consuming. But you twisted the cable tighter, this is what I thought should be done with cable. Or did I miss something?
FiF contestants tend to uncoil so they can be certain all the steel is clean in order to minimize the chance of defects. Based on my limited knowledge and what I've seen done, either method is fine.
Some sources (of the metal) are interesting, some just weird eh. Taking a cable as a source is interesting as it is what I call a source that had to be superior in the first place. A pile of paper clips, or razor blades is kinda odd. But I like the guys videos.
Quenching 1095 in engine oil, is not going fully harden it. I'd like to see him do a file test up and down the blade of his work. I've seen two videos of this guy, and as a Smith myself, his stuff makes me cringe.

Labour of Love, colour is everything.
The salt kind of thing is called borex. It helps in forgings and cleaning the metal.
Loved the video! It's fun and very interesting to watch you create gems from junk.
You're working is awesome and I watch your vids all the time, thank you.
I love all your work my friend. I only wish i could afford a piece if your rich history and knowledge. Always amazing in every way my friend!!!! 😊😊😊
Very professional and nice knife ❤❤
What is the stuff in the bucket, where you put the knife after quenching? And what does it do, exactly?
Was the cable metal in the center too? Most wire rope like that is wound around a plastic core.
That was a nice job made one out of steel cable very tough blade and nice looking Damascus pattern on it too new subscriber

Is that coffee creamer?
Borax or another fix material. It's used to keep the welds clean.

Mucho Desperdicio de material, tiempo, energía y trabajo. Con esa cantidad de acero podría haber hecho dos o más facas.
🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏

👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I don't understand why these people forge knives that can also double as a prybar. You want to cut things with a knife not beat it to death
