Wow, what a find! A little gem.😍 I liked your review very much. The braceled link removal procedure is awesome. 👍 FYI 5:38 The caseback is not engraved, but embossed. Cheers from Poland 🇵🇱
I picked up a WV59 after seeing it on the wrist of Bob Odenkirk in season 6 of "Better Call Saul". I set all my other Casio digitals, analogs, and automatic mechanicals to this Wave Ceptor, as I find that even my cell phone's time is a little off. I build dive watches with Seiko automatic movements inside and don't mind setting them and giving a quick wind to get them going. When they stop, they stop, and never sit too long. I don't find watch winders necessary. Nice review. :)
That's a sharp looking Wave Ceptor! I have an ana-digi model, and I love it, absolutely dead-on accurate. I also have a G-Shock square model that features both Bluetooth synchronization and the Multi-Band 6 receiver, and a Casioak that syncs via Bluetooth. I feel that if you choose to wear a proper wristwatch these days, it should be at least as accurate as your phone at telling the time.
Beautiful watch! You can imagine how it will looks if Casio changes the plastic case for a steel one! I’ll pay extra for that one. Beautiful video too!
Nice retro feel of the square design. I'm pleased you did not have a boing moment with the watch pins! After collecting a few Swiss mechanicals, I've switched to more affordable quartz watches. Just a pain after a few years to have to replace batteries - even doing it yourself. So preference now is for solar and setting power save mode where possible. Unfortunately, the atomic RF signals don't reach the part of the planet where I live, but I enjoy setting my watches to Internet time and watching the accuracy over time. Some of my cheapest Casios are the most precise!
@@divergentus last year, I added two quartz divers to my collection. This year, I added another quartz diver watch. While I like mechanical watches more, I am increasingly appreciating the accuracy, reliability, ease-of-use, and durability of quartz pieces more. Everyone needs at least one quartz digital or quartz analog in their collection.
Wow, that could be the perfect watch, i love the atomic time on my current casio but hate the month/day/year date display. Great video, thank you for bringing this to my attention 👍
I've heard that you don't keep a mechanical watch ticking all the time, the lubrication can dry out and seize up. I guess that they are like little engines.
@@wristaction mech watches are not so delicate as to "seize up" unless they are seriously mis-treated(like dropped from large height or heavy water exposure etc.). Re lubrication, generally watches need to be serviced every few years to be sure of good performance and prevent wear and tear as the lubrication eventually dries out anyway, worn or not. But you are right, they are little engines and about 400 yrs history, so really they are generally very reliable if treated properly. Each to their own haha!
@@hairsandwiches Is it the EL version? I heard there was a production fault with the module. It may be fixable if you check the contacts to the battery.
I have the more classic look Wave-Ceptor and it's my daily wear. I love waking up in the morning and turning the light on over it and watching it whizz to life! The second hand stops, and the LED powers down when you remove it from a light source. But as soon as it senses light, the second hand whips around and the LED goes to the Day/Date function! It was a bit of a chore to set up, but once I found the manual in English on-line, it was easy. I set it up and it even lets you set it for DST, that rocks! What a feature! I know that this watch is always the right time, and it's how I set all my other watches! It's also the cheapest one I own, but I love it!
I actually prefer quartz to collect and am old enough to remember the Quartz revolution in the 70´s. But for the first few years they were in the price range of Rolex and higher. So the fun for me now is to collect those models from back then for incredibly cheap prices! I have mechanical watches but as I get older I can´t be bothered with all the phaff with them! As for the old thing that mechanical is more emotional because its lots of parts moving and made by hand, the cheap ones with standard ETA or Sellita movements are almost all put together by machines, even the regulating so where is the soul in that!
@@ianmedium I like mechanical watches too and I was emphasising that they need looking after. That should be a part of the fun as long as it doesn’t get to be too much of a juggling act.
A mechanical watch will not "seize" if not put on a winder, it will just run out of power and need to be re-wound. Accuracy is actually very important to many mech watch enthusiasts, it's a whole subject on it's own, but true yeah those who collect the very expensive ones usually are more interested in other rmech functions.
As much as you like quartz watches which I do too, I believe mechanical watches have their own shine as well and they are sought after for that very reason
Nice watch, I like the multiband 6 functionality. I have it on my casio and citizen watches. But casio is pushing the Bluetooth and smartphone use on their newest watches.
@wristaction Yes is true, but more than half of the world is not in the range of the atomic towers. So Bluetooth is not that bad. I have a citizen atessa watch that uses satellite wave for time sync, but is expensive.
Of course it's a nice thing that the watch is always accurate. Interesting would be to see how they will drift over without the radio signal over a period of 1 month for example. You could this as an experiment.
Casio G-Shock multi-band watches are supposed to be accurate within plus or minus 15 seconds and are often better than that. Cheaper Casios are supposed to be more like 30 seconds a month. Both miraculously accurate compared to a typical mechanical watch
Yo brother, I'm also a quartz watch fan. I have four citizen watches and a Casio. I love the Time Tower and my watch sets everyday. I like quartz watches way better than pretty movement. Cuz the reason I wear a watch is for the time...
Nice watch, I actually prefer the classic electroluminescent backlights to amber backlights. Unfortunately we aren't within range of any atomic clocks in down in Australia.
@@YashBains-h1e If it has a blue EL backlight I read that there was a production fault with the battery contacts where it doesn’t press against battery firmly enough. You should be able to fix it yourself by bending the contact slightly.
I enjoy quartz watches. But these radio ones still only have the basic +-15 per month that any run of the mill $20 quartz watch has if it doesnt receive the radio signal. You should look into Grand Seiko or Citizen quartz watches with +-1 or 5 sec per year without the need for reliance on an external signal for accuracy. Not to mention the excellent build quality.
@@tuhkathri9126 I really like Seiko Spring Drive watches. I wish they would produce some more sub 40mm models though. 35-36mm would be the sweet spot for me.
This is interesting, mine is a WV-59E, it has an electroluminescent light. For the rest it looks the same, except it says '50M' on the front, instead of '5 BAR'. I didn't know they changed it to have an LED light. Just found out the light on mine doesn't come on, even though I haven't used that much. Hopefully it is just a matter of putting in a fresh battery. I also have a CASIO EDB-700, which seems to have a better time reception than this one and has a cool duplex display.
I think that you must have an earlier model which uses the 3053 module and has an EL backlight. If you don't have any luck after installing a new battery, check that the contacts to the battery are ok.
Producer Michael who has for me a tasteless collection seems to never even wind his watches up as his videographer Adam keeps telling him. To a lot of new money people like him its more about having a name to flash around than actual timekeeping.
The belief that a mechanical watch will seize or become sticky with disuse is untrue. Modern watch oils do not become gummy like the old ones did so keeping a mechanical watch running is not necessary to it’s good running anymore.
RADIO IS WORTHLESS TO ME from where i live, tried and tested, but what is true and supreme value in time adjust is BLUETOOTH so now i dont even look at radio signal watches for time correction

Eh, they both have their place. I prefer driving a gas-engine car with a manual transmission, even if it isn't as efficient or clean as an electric car.
It’s bizarre companies of today are still producing these rubbish, ghastly bracelets from the 80s (yes I know it’s for economical savings but still). Gross. That’s enough to keep me away from this watch. Nice module and case tho.
