  • This is a how to video on repairing the MonoKote covering on a balsa wing by making a patch and ironing it on the wing to cover a hole that was broken into the wing

    I find you can cut a backing patch that you can concert into the hole then you can use a T pin to hold the patch up against the hole. using the heating iron,the ultracoat will stick to the patch just as it sticks to the ribs of the plane or body when you do the body. heating activates the glue in the monocoat. A patch can be a very thin piece of plywood, balsa wood or even a piece of monocoat its self. I have used a thin layer of superglue to tack the patch to the inside of the hole,carefully pullor manipulate the torn pieces back together and run a thin layer of superglue over the edges. You can add an additional patch of monocoat over the spot if you want but unless it looks bad,I dont bother.
