Dentists cause an unbelievable amount of pain , but at least they're actually doing something 😂 I had to go to the dentist yesterday (the day before I posted this comment) and she did more for me in an hour than my family doctor has in my pathetic 29 years of existence. Dentists deserve more credit. Nurses too. Surgeons earn their paychecks as well 😉😙
The show was crucial to helping me through my parents divorce I was 14 when I started watching this and a couple years ago I actually was in LA and saw Brendon small and mr. Lynch in person !!!!!
My sisters and I saw this show for the first time in a hospital waiting room when our grandma was in hospice. We were at the hospital late at night feeling awful when this show came on. Pretty soon we were all laughing so hard we were crying, it was just so ridiculously funny. That night, laughter truly was the best medicine.
I love how throughout the entire episode, you think that coach has some kind of medical condition but in the end, they show us that it was a construction crew that was keeping him up
As someone who has had on and off insomnia for roughly 5 years, Melissa asking "How come?" and "Did you try lying on your bed and... y'know having your eyes closed and relaxing?" and McGuirk's frustration is way too relatable.
A nurse told me that I shouldn't use off the shelf sleep aid meds. My body will adjust to them after several doses and I'll end up worse. I have to get a prescription for a certain type of sleeping medication.
I remember seeing this show pop up and thinking, “I’m not too keen on this art style.” Now that I’m an adult who can actually appreciate this show for all it is, it really goes to show that you can’t judge a book by it’s cover.
It looked even worse in the first few seasons because all the lines were squiggly, they called it squiggle vision. A true eyesore. But the dialogue is amazing.
The fact that Brendan Small was only in his early twenties when he wrote this when this one scene has more intellectual merit than most entire TV series just shows the genius he is, not just musically but intellectually.
he also worked on this show with Loren Bouchard, who would later go on to make the tv series "Bob's Burgers" which also has H. John Benjamin voicing a character(a few in that show to be exact)

Do they pay more than $150 now? Cuz DVD players are way less now, so I wouldnt have to do as many studies. Oh, but what about the DVDs themselves? Yeah, no, yeah I'll just keep smoking opium but hey, thank you guys so much. I really appreciate it.
Oh man coach Mcguirk.. I just laugh myself sick🤣🤣 this simple animation is better than any sitcom ever made. It's so well-written, and the characters from Brendon to coach Mcguirk are Priceless !!
I've been in that situation more times than I care to remember due to my depression and anxiety. In severe cases, I've experienced sleep deprivation for so long, that I became suicidal with psychosis and had to be hospitalized. I can honestly say I've been through Hell and back. Antidepressants have been a life saver for me and learning coping skills to deal with said anxiety and depression have helped tremendously! Also, I have done one of those sleep studies to test for sleep apnea. What a joke! Trying to sleep in a different bed with a bunch of wires stuck all over your body and a purple light on the ceiling is not conducive for sleeping. I had been asleep for an hour when the lady came in to turn off the TV, which woke me up and I didn't go back to sleep.
this show is such a gem.... i i wish i wasn't no naive and stupid as a kid and wouldn't of just dismissed it because of its animation... this comedy was probably a bit too high brow when i was 11 anyways, you can't really understand the feel of the improvisational tone that adds into the comedy until you are older. Home movies is amazing!
As a kid, even though I didn't really understand everything McGuirk was saying, I still knew he was the best character on the show, and who doesn't love that voice? No wonder H. Jon Benjamin moved on to bigger things.
