Eric, Thanks for the tour! This is really cool! It's interesting that this is the old school version of what you're doing. Converting or building timber-framed barns into homes is really the same thing you're doing, only with modern materials. You use steel instead of timber. If the opportunity arises, you should try putting together one of these. The state of the art manufacturing produces a kit that's mostly cut to order. Yes, there is some fitting, but it's all modeled on the computer. The fact that this guy, his 2 sons, and a couple friends were able to get the building to the level of completion in 3 days? That's just amazing! Man I wish I lived in Texas!
I looked at doing this with a kit from Sand Creek Post and Beam, the structure is not too bad, but the erection cost's were through the roof! 4 times the cost of the building material. That was just the frame... everything else would still need to be done, wall framing electrical etc etc way too much SO I went with a metal building. But I love the post and beam look, love it!!! Erik you should start doing these too!
I have watched this channel for a good while now. I like to see how your hosting style and certain nuances in videography have evolved. Great content as always. Look forward to see this one complete. Keep up the good work.
One hell of a wedding place, and don't you dare put any paint on that barn. It's all stain or nothing ! Just kidding of course, but I do like stain instead of paint big time.
Good for you, Erik, thinking out of box -- again. Sand Creek Post and Beam company would benefit from your doing a project with them. Their site focuses only on manufacturing. While its great to see their CNC machines, we need to know the how-to realities of building. Do it, Erik. Ring'm up . . . . .
Eric, this is gorgeous. I would like to build a wood barn in Euroe. What kind of roof do you sude? Wood roof structure plus which material. I would like to insulate te walls and roof.. What do you use? I see wood cladding for your roof Thank you, regards
Just to clear up a very common misconception about lumber sizes. When you pointed out that the 2x4 on that barn was a true 2" by 4" you failed to point out that they were ruff cut all saw marks still there. When you buy lumber you buy it by the size it comes off the mill so when you go down to the lumber yard or box store and buy a 2x4 and it measures 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 it is because it has been all cleaned up planed down and edged no saw marks relatively smooth and to get that 2x4 off the mill a nice and clean and the exact same size requires having to plane about a 1/4" off every side. If DaddyKirbs had decided he did not want ruff cut and planed and jointed all that wood down his 2x4s would have measured 1 1/2 x 3 1/2. The Lumber companies are not scamming or ripping people off they are selling you a nice cleaned up 2x4.
I bet it would cost a fortune just for the frame , we’re windows included , will you spray it down with diesel fuel to preserve the board , and stain it at the same time , that technique also protects the wood from termites .
There's nothing quite like an old barn, those that time forgot, with old horse drawn carriages and farming equipment. Many these days are more about horsepower, stalls filled with cars and other toys, does keep the things alive though.
Who sells this particular 40' x 36' 'horse barn' kit? -EDIT: Nevermind, I reviewed clips again and found reference to the kit builder: www.sandcreekpostandbeam.com
Eric... Just wondering if you guys would ever consider making a barndo with concrete slab then ICF walls followed by a continuous roof or pitched roof either one
I'm building a board and batten horse barn this summer (high profile) modular. It is 30 X 30 with a 10 foot overhang. I am paying $66,000 (installed) for everything except site prep (concrete pillars and gravel, then a 10 x 30 concrete centerisle). This is another $4,000. Does this sound like too much? Stall grills are expensive, so are stall doors with yoke fronts. They bring the modular on a flatbed, slap on the roof and you're done in a week. Has anyone bought a prefab that can tell me how it worked out for them?
I build post frame buildings in Idaho, and that sounds really high to me, but my buildings usually have metal siding. Your post doesn't say where you are, so I don't know anything about your area. Maybe call the National Frame Builders Association. I don't belong to their Association, so this isn't a plug for anything I am biased toward. They would be familiar with contractors in your area that build similar buildings through their membership records. My impression is that these types of building contractors are very competitive and therefore it should be a terrific value for you if you get someone who specializes in post frame construction.

@@rosawilliams9145, It kinda does ! John g, it may not look as authentic as an original Post & Beam, but those brackets make for a seriously strong connection for a lot less precision work. I do get what you're saying though.
Love this. Certainly worth giving it a try Erik.
We are in Michigan and see this type barn every few miles. We are moving to Texas and if you start building these, we will be future customers.
Lol I move out of mich. I'm almost a year I go on couldn't be happier
That is going to be Awesome when he is done with it. Thanks for sharing Erik.
wow, that will look amazing when finished
Love the design, & all those come true....Amen to that... bless you guys
Wow Erik ! Great video yet again!
Been kicking around building one of these, thanks for this video!

Cool , and thank you all for video let's see when he all done can't wait
Hope you build some like that on future.maestro you can do it you’re SMART MAESTRO
I would love just that frame without any siding on it. A slab of concrete with a roof.
Really like the tour, I’m jealous.
Love it. This would be the type of Barndominium I would love have built for Me...
My grandpa's fell down...it's a pile of rusty metal sheets and hand hewn beams .. would love to see it standing again.
This channel is growing fast! 🤩

Cool! Thank you for sharing Eric!
They are doing some awesome work on it. And yes a finish tour is in order...
I think the way he did that with his sons is awesome!!!!
Totally cool, dude! It would be great if this was something y’all did once in awhile, too. Cheers!
Erik, you gave that "look" when you said maybe I'll build one/two of these.
Build it, you know you want one!!
😁
Wow! This is very cool. I want one!

That is a beautiful structure..im with the narrator..I would love to build that kit..(for myself!)..
Thank you for sharing the build of a barn thank you
Good video thank you
Looks like another "barn" wedding venue
Next video..how not to lose your new barn during a divorce...hahahaja
And all the Texas termites cheered. 🐜🐜🐜😉
That thing is beautiful, wow
Absolutely LOVE IT!!! New subscriber too. Now to CATCH UP!!! 😂😂😂 Bless you and yours!!! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊 Much Love and Respect from Florida!!! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊

Thanks for sharing, it's very interesting
i wouldn't mind a house made from one of those, i bet they look amazing completed and kitted out
I thought the same exact thing. I would Love to have one of these for a house. Going to be looking into it. Bless you and yours!!! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊
Wonderful work!
That Barn is very cool. I would turn that into a house
Love the wood, you should so add these to your repertoire !
Like everything but the steel plates.
What I been thinking of doing when I get some land.
My OCD was getting to me, those gaps in the roof were driving me crazy
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one!
Might need that gap for swelling. If they were tight any swelling would buckle the planks. Got to be some covering going on maybe cedar shingles.
I was wondering the same thing. How, when it rains how are you going to keep it from leaking? 👀😨
Metal roof will go over that.
@@perdidocamaronero5400 So correct, and when they do the walls with board and batting, it also will have gaps for swelling.
Awesome video! Maybe you could take that wood style and make a one story barndo...of course with great insulation and windows. Thanks for sharing!
Cuando esté acabado va a ser muy bonito
Would love to see more of this !
This looks so great, although personally I'm a bit wary of wooden buildings. I am glad to see an increase in pre-fabricated structures, though.

Barnogrophy🔥
What a great looking western horse barn. Wow. So if you poured the cement pad did you pass that $1 a square foot savings over to them?🤠👍🙋😂
Love that look...tur into a housel.
Nice work
Impressive 👍🏻👍🏻
Well, then, the best way to get excited about building your own barn, is to go help Blake Kirby build his!
i was hoping to learn what kind of supporting foundation was required for a structure this big? if i was building this from scratch? please
Awesome Barn. Do you know roof pitch on main hall and wings? It appears to be different and I like it.
how old are those sons? and what heavy equipment did he need to put this up?
His son is Clark Kent. Just an average sized kid.
New camera? Quality of the video looks fantastic
What company did he buy the kit from?
How much did the kit cost? If its more than 15k you overpaid
Wow how much was it just to do that?
Can you provide a link to the website where you purchased this barn kit. Thanks.
Eric,
It’s been a year, time for the completion video you promised.
Built dozens of these style barns. Not 1 from a kit. We saw most of our barn lumber. Not that hard to do
More wooden barns!
I have a post and beam home and I love it... I hope you do too.

I have considered it. 😁
Interesting stuff... Thanks
What’s the name of the company where you can buy the barn kit?
This is sometimes referred to as a "monitor barn".

Manny where are you at bruhh?
Qual o diâmetro dos postes?
I like it :-)
Would someone kindly write me and let me know what the kit # is because I'd really like to buy this specific kit!
Manny where are you
That wood has to cost a fortune.
Could. Be a wedding or party barn? What are the dimensions?
The roof may be on, but lots of gaps
6:50 how do you keep rats out of sliding doors?
Is this company out of business? Website is out!
What’s the company that sells these kits?
I’m really hoping he wasn’t serious about the roof being done. I’ll have to check his channel out to see.
It’s not done yet. It’s gonna take metal on the roof.
Texas Barndominiums ok, would’ve been cool with some old style wood shingles. I was concerned with leaking with what would be a beautiful building.
How much is this kit?
Anyone else hear that sound at 2:17
For it to be real if any metal used should be hand forged
What are the dimensions
2nd!
Square footage?
What happened to Daniel?
I dont like the steel brackets everywhere, makes it look like a 'pretend' barn. Why are they there?barns have been built for centuries with no steel brackets?
It eliminate the hassle of drilling all the old school peg holes and while it's not as pretty, it does work well.
