EDIT: Someone accused me of stealing this and then deleted their comment. Definitely did not steal this. I use Audacity all of the time, and was planning to edit it as soon as I got home from the movie because I could tell they just lowered the octave. I shared it with a friend, and then shared it on youtube because I thought people would want to hear it. It doesn't surprise me other people have edited the song for Dan's real voice, nor that I ended up in the same key as someone else's version. In any case, thought I should clear that up. :-)

For real...Goosebumps...Very dramatic.
It loses very little without the filtering. His voice is beautiful and the feeling he illicits is exquisite. Stevens has a wonderful trained acting ability to emote all his feelings into a song. Bleeding it dry. This rendition is even better than Josh Grobans. Even without the filtering. You feel the ache and longing in this rendition
. And the beauty as well.
Isn't it nice to hear someone who sings every word clearly -- he should do this more often. He does sing in an episode of Legion -- The Rainbow Connection -- and plays the banjo -- it's very touching and one of the sweetest scenes in a show that generally makes me want to hide under the bed with a large crow bar.

D J Baumshell -- thanks so much for posting this -- Dan's own voice. While not a singer, per se, he does such a lovely job with this gorgeous song (which should have won an Academy Award, but it wasn't even nominated!!).
Dan Stevens NEVER did anything like Eurovision: Song Contest before. He outperformed expectations and director David Dobkin was dumbfounded how great he was as Alexander Lemtov. He stole every scene he was in, and there can be no doubt that he will be considered for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy or Musical. He's that incredible! Getting more attention than anything he's ever done, except of course, for Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey.
I knew it was him when I saw this movie but feel in love with him on the Eurovision movie!!! I loved it so much !!!

The strength of emotion Dan puts into this song proves the Beast is filled with unrequited love. If this song, sung by Dan, doesn't carry you away with emotion then you have never experienced love and loss, and . . . isn't those emotions the biggest part of being human?

He also sang a small tune in Season 2 of Downton Abbey. Compared to this audio, it's very close to his natural singing voice in the very beginning. However, as the song progresses, it gets a bit too high after the bridge. Disney magic, I tell you, haha.
This version doesn't have as big an effect on me than the one with his beast voice did, but I still love it so much!!

Its kinda sad that people cant tell that this video is auto-tuned in an attempt to reverse the sound alteration to create the Beasts voice.
guys, you can tell within the first line of the song that its been auto-tuned to make the voice sound higher pitched directly from the movie, yes, Dan Stevens can actually sing, but this completely altered sound from the movie.

That's beyond untrue. You can hear it throughout the film. If you've ever even attempted to run a voice through autotune you know what it sounds like. Mind yoy, it's not like they can't sing but it's pretty much industry standard to make sure that every note is perfect by running it all through autotune. Everyone does it, you just don't hear it if the singer is always on the mark. Dan and Emma aren't professional singers so they don't always hit the mark.

I like the Josh Groban version a lot but, he uses to much vibrato in places where he doesn't need it in my opinion. Dan holds those big power moments with just a strong singular beautiful note and then adds the vibrato towards the end.

What a beautiful voice and so full of emotion and sincerity. Listen to him sing Rainbow Connection -- Legion -- he is terrified and trying to warn Syd and you can that emotion in his voice -- this guy should be on Broadway. Even if I cannot get there to see him. Wonderful.

My mom and I were both shocked when we found out this was originally made for the movie. It sounds like it was in the original! Also when I saw this movie in March, I was shocked because it was so good! I had some doubts before seeing it
I hate the filter applied to his voice in this version. He sounds like a munchkin from the Wizard of Oz.
The version in the movie is adjusted to make his voice sound lower and more Beast-like. This video is supposed to portray what Dan's voice actually sounds like.

it's too high, I wouldn't imagine him sounding like this in his "actual" voice.
Dan actually has a low singing voice, as evidenced by his creeeeepy rendition of Rainbow Connection and his blink and you'll miss stint on Downton. Of course they "whack up the bass" for this movie, but really Dan did most of the work.

I don't think his 'real voice'. A copy doesn't just pop out a turnip leaf somewhere so someone can post it on RUclips. I think the voice in the movie is his REAL voice. Until I see an OFFICIAL tape or article to say otherwise, vids like this are meh. I think people are just jealous that Dan has it all: looks, charm, acting chops, dancing skills, singing greatness and to top it off, the kind of blue eyes that make you go to a clinic to see if your still a virgin after gazing into them.
