I just love how whenever you create a melody it ends up sounding like its from Touhou, that could just be my cursed brain though (plus Toby Fox did sprinkle a bit of Touhou into his songs)
how to avoid sounding like touhou: -avoid many repeats (NO Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) -NO Trumpets -Don't do IV-V-iii-vi -don't make it _too_ japanese -avoid odd time-signatures and yeah thats pretty much it. The most Touhou-y Undertale song is Battle against a True Hero (its pretty much Touhou) btw Hope that helps in some way! 😊
Man, I really enjoyed this undertale-esque undertale inspired song! It sounded a lot like the melody of undertale from undertale in undertale that plays near the end of undertale!
okay ghost that is incoporeal and possesses a suit of armor basically fighting you while his parents who aren't possessing anything help him in the background, then later into the phase, he becomes corporeal with the armor, becoming stronger and better at fighting but now he can be attacked, that's how i'd imagine this boss fight playing out
Did you really think you could leak a future Deltarune song, and we wouldn't notice? This song is amazing, really. Imo, it already sounds better than half of all fangame songs. I think what really sells this is the call and response. It's usually what I remember most about a song; a constant barrage of notes isn't really interesting. But your call and response is just *perfect* and ... god, it's already in my head. Screw you, I'll be hearing this in my dreams, have a good day sir!
As some other people have said I think it honestly sounds more like Touhou music, but I find that really interesting because Touhou was one of Toby's main inspirations for Undertale. Battle Against a True Hero also specifically uses Zunpets (which are literally named after Zun, the creator of Touhou) so now that I think about it that's probably one of the main reasons the song you made makes me think of Touhou. Thinking about this is making my head spin lol. Anyways I really enjoyed the video and of course I also like the song you made!
I would recommend looking into recreation flp's to see really HOW toby makes his songs. A great recreations who uploads some of their recreations goes by "nini", and I would highly suggest looking at their videos. (They def helped me) The song ir really good, and a good start at this type of music too!!
After watching your touhou video I am glad I came back to listen to this touhou song. On a more serious note. I really like your editing and music. Seems like a lot of effort! Keep it up :) I hope more people discover your channel.
My first song that I ever made was an undertale rip. Before I even learned what chords were I looked up the piano tutorial to a bunch of different undertale songs and copied them down into my daw. Now I’m just making my undertale inspired game.
I love the result!! You are underrated af ngl, this sounds like an actual undertale song, and your video was super entertaining and funny. Also just so you know, undertale soundfonts are not copyright!
If you want to further dive into the Tobias Foxmikaielis mindset, you should take a listen to Touhou music. Toby is a big fan of Touhou and Battle Against a True Hero specifically is inspired by Touhou music.
As a composer who uses a lot of the same soundfonts Toby Fox uses, what you've made is really nice but could really be polished further. I'm 99% sure I can hear the default Fruity Limiter compressing the hell out of some louder parts, and the sound can sound muddy at times, most likely because you've tried adding chords at a very low pitch. Low frequencies are really easy to ruin. That said, you're already pretty damn good at this! PS: If you ever need advice you can talk to me ;p
Your song is really catchy, and it really REALLY reminds me of Undyne. I don’t know, maybe because Undyne was there all along? Maybe Undyne was the answer to the friends we made along the way? Wait, was it like that? What was I even going to say?
Super cool video! I kept checking the viewcount and being like "yeah that doesn't make sense". Btw, you should be able to use basically any soundfont you like without any legal trouble. Toby used soundfonts from all his favourite games, including like the Mario paint soundfont and noone sued him. The rules in music (or lack thereof) are crazy man.
Good luck on growing your channel man ! The melody ended being very nice, the process of making it and the video edits are also nice. Keep up the good work buddy ! 🔥🙌🏻
The fact that, wothout looking in the comments section, without ever even _having heard_ the Touhou soundtrack(s) (besides Bad Apple done a kbjillion ways), without Touhou not even _in my mind going into this,_ the fact that I still thought "hey, this kinda sounds like a Touhou song," is a brilliant show of skill and technique on your part. Truly a song that does the source material justice, and I could totally see it in a Touhou fight somewhere.
You can start by learning some music theory, an instrument, and/or a music program! for example, if you learned piano, and learned to play undertale music, you'll have an easier time creating compositions similar to that of toby fox
I assume that the limited instruments on older games forcing musicians to create a larger chord progression applied to zun as well. edit: also Toby took inspiration from Touhou music.
Its funny how it sounds more Touhou-esque more than anything 😅
Well Toby did say he got inspiration from touhou, So I think it counts
@@bladeslash_ Yup haha. Toby's music is like if Touhou and Earthbound had a baby
That is cause at1:55 without the call and response sounds very similar to a pacific touhou song.
i felt it have more undertale yellow energy
So true 😭

i love this
how to avoid sounding like touhou:

Aimed at Undertale, yet landed on Touhou lol
Thank you for the caveman explanation of counterpoint, it means alot to me.
1:45 that flame dodging is genius
im a gamer
Emotional segments, melodies that flow well into another, trumpets... Wait This Is A Touhou Song.
and then some day im gonna make a song with the intention to sound like touhou and it'll sound nothing like it
@@MingREEEEyou’ll try to make touhou and end up with undertale

Perfectly replicated ZUN’s music style.

yeah, but its 8bit sounds (squares, triangles, white noise, ect) sound bad.

This really speaks to the masterpiece that is Touhou music
this is good touhou music
yeah i have to agree to the comments
its Touhou and you cannot change our minds now
the trumpets were what forced it into touhou if you were wondering, also i think touhou music is just more hyper aggressive undertale music
another banger upload from a banger youtuber
I try

by the way, the undyne trumpets are from touhou
