God-tier thumbnail, never clicked anything faster in my life. I hope I can be as cool as Biker Bob one day. Honestly had never seen any of these sets before - thanks for introducing me!
You know, Super Station Master in the Lego Loco Intro was actually just the regular Station Master minifig with a red cape and exclusive head print. In fact, I actually built that exact version of him from the Lego Loco Intro, and he proudly sits on the radio station antenna in my city, keeping a ever vigilant watch over the Lego Railways in my city.
As a zillennial who's mentally stuck in the late 90s and early 00s, I adore this channel. Not just nostalgia, but so high quality too! I hope you do some more stuff on Life on Mars or Arctic!
I love how you called him "Mister Loco" at 4:08, since as a kid, I always thought that guy WAS "Lego Loco". Like, that's just his name, like Super Mario.
Hey, Slugger, so I was wondering if the minfig Ninja - Samurai, Blue Old (Bricklink description) would fall into your criteria for set-exclusive torso and head print. I can't find any signs of either of them being used elsewhere. I recently got that one in a really cheap, unassuming lego haul, which I only picked up after price checking the minifigs in it and discovered that specific one's rarity.
Ah what the heck! I swear I checked this one! 😭 No, you’re totally right - this one would count and bring 1998’s total of unique torso & head combos up to 3. That shirt with the brick on it feels very much like it would have been included in many classic building buckets.
The Super station master I remember came with two heads: The one with the red eye covering and one with the normal mustachioed face. In the pic of him you can also see he's not wearing the cape. This is so you can basically act out the intro movie of Lego Loco and have the regular station master transform into the super station master. I also tend to swap out part of the leg pieces so that he at least has some red underpants on to retain some level of modesty and more closely resemble his appearance in Lego Island 2. (And when you do the Super Station master transformation in Lego Loco by building some phone booths for him to change into) I never realised the red axle pieces were hard to find! I currently use them for a small classic space buggy MOC.
