    I saw this and thought I would try it because my dent is half the size. It's right in the middle of the frig and drives me nuts every day. I also didn't want to buy the spray because I'm too lazy to go to the store and everyone has the Corona scare. So I used the hair dryer and got the dent hot just like he did, then I took a really cold can of soda and quickly and GENTLY pressed it up against the dent and rolled it back and forth. Like you are rolling out pizza dough. It came completely out. I have another deeper dent. where my son dropped a bottle on top of the freezer portion. I'm going to try it. It's free, took 1 or 2 minutes and free. Thanks for the idea DIGIT9

      @@DIGIT9 so I just did it on the deeper dent and it did nothing. So for me it really only worked on a small shallow one rather than a deep or sharp one. But hey the front looks really good.

      I noticed a small ding on my new fridge door, found out someone left a lower cabinet door open and opened the fridge at the same time thus creating a dent. It’s driving me insane. 😡 I’m gonna try your method out!!

    You have to do what auto body dent repair technicians do, you have to get BEHIND the panel. They use long spoon and bent spatula type tools to push the dent out from behind by prying. They also have little punches to tap the dent back from the front side after popping it out until they get it perfectly flat. It's basically an art form when done well. When they are done you can't even tell a dent was ever there.

    • @ericrawley7546
      @ericrawley7546 Год назад +4

      Paintless dent repair. Problem with getting behind the panel is you can't unless you take everything apart.
      Also stainless is not painted so any dings or dents that can be done Is limited to outside and less sharp Dings.
      Take it from a 20 year pdr tech.
      Don't try at home

    You have to buy the stainless steel dent remover kit. I had the same size dent on my fridge and tried the blow dryer and dust remover can method. I even heated the dent 5-6 minutes and then hit it with compressed air for 30 seconds. Nothing. 4 rounds of the same method and still nothing. Bought the the dent remover kit online and it worked.

    Just a quick science fact It couldn’t be carbon dioxide because it shoots out a liquid once upside down and co2 sublimes so it can only be either a solid or a gas. The duster most likely contains propane or some other propellant. Good method though, I’m about to try it!

    You have to get the steel HOT!!!!! Hold the heating gun in one spot for 60 seconds... Also use a piece of dry ice big enough to cover the entire dent... hold that there for at least 90 seconds... I've done it a lot to my SS fridge.

    • @DIGIT9
      @DIGIT9  8 лет назад +1

      Mine didn't... I wish I had pictures... Just make sure the dry ice is big enough to cover the entire dent and that you hold it there until frost forms... I've done it a few times just like that and it worked great...

    rinkovideo, thanks for your original thinking. But why heat? That would expand the metal, making the dent bigger. Use only the cold. Shrinking the metal, in the dent, would pull it straight. ... A handyman creased my old refrigerator moving it out. I'm trying to find out if the door can be taken apart to push out the dent.

  • @sitstaystamp
    @sitstaystamp 8 лет назад +6

    Tried this and wouldn't recommend it. I used a crafting heat tool instead of a blow dryer. The stainless steel now bubbles out in that spot and looks kind of like a big zit. I think it's more noticeable than the small dent I was trying to fix. Ooops.

    • @DIGIT9

      Did you try ice cube on a wet face cloth. You are trying to"shrink" the metal. A high spot can be tapped down with a flat hammer , just tapping very lightly. The problem is they have found a way to make metal so super thin it is weak.

    I had three of the exact same type dents in my Samsung fridge. I used dry ice that was in a package of Omaha Steaks we received earlier today. I applied the ice directly to the dent after I heated it with a hair dryer. Held it against the dent until it was frosted around the ice, several minutes. Got same results as you. I tried it three times on two dents and twice on another.. Each dent was a little different but I saw no difference.

      Their still in the freezer behind the dented stainless. I also tried to get a small dent out of the side of my car, Oddly enough it worked perfectly. I believe the metal has to be thicker than the stainless steel Samsung uses on the fridges. Got another small dent in my other car and will give it a try tomorrow if all the dry ice hasn't evaporated.

    @voicetube 5 лет назад +8

    You probably already gotten a comment along this line, however, you made try utilizing the technique that people use to get out hail dents, etc. called "PDR" or, "Painless Dent Repair."
    I just learned about this today through RUclips - you can get kits on Amazon and although there is an art to it (And to those PDR experts out there who may thrash my comment if I don't say this: to do it REALLY right (and work on almost any sort of dent) it takes a LOT of skill to get out every little last ripple) with a combination of tapping around the outer rim of the "crater" with a special tool (when/if needed) coupled with the main magic bullet being the utilizing of a hot glue gun and little round deals you glue to the center of the dent and then after it dries (about a minute-ish) with a special tool, one grabs onto the little whatchamacallit and you give it a light (or harder) PULL (depending on your dent coupled with the softness of the metal, etc. -
    For a refrigerator I would guess it would be a very gentle pull. So, by going back and forth with tapping certain areas/high points and then pulling again on the center etc., you can flatten out the metal. [NOTE: there is also protocol for tapping the dent from the other side if you can get to the back end of the metal but you sometimes can't].
    When I get some money together, I'm going to go on to Amazon and probably buy one of the higher-rated kits and try taking out a 3" dent in my car (someone backed into my front end area).
    I will video record the whole procedure & I'll eventually post the video on RUclips (my goal would be to do it before the end of 2018).
    My guess is in that I'm not trained, it may be far from perfect, but I can bet from what I've learned so far, that I'm going to be able to make it look a lot better than it was :-)
    I'd be curious to see how that PDR procedure would work with a refrigerator.

      +Donling 1 The toilet plunger worked on my car for a larger dent, but for small dents like this it doesn't work.
