    Wow.. Much better! Doing this as a non professional dent removal specialist I'd be happy with that result.That said... no way would I have been happy with only a 15% discount (actually less once you deduct the price of the dent removal kit) FACT: It's not unheard of to get a 20% to 40% on such damage because the retailer is faced with having someone pick it up, return it to inventory, resell or repair it as well as redeliver a new one to you. Personally I would have negotiated for a steeper discount or had them replace the unit. NOTE: Dents and shipping damage are a way of life in the appliance business and the overall costs of damage discounts is actually figured into a retailers annual operational costs. Each case is different as some manufacturers limit damage the discount. Larger stores even have dent specialist on speed dial. The main problem is many folks decide to live with the dent and accept the damage discount... only to eventually regret their decision every time they look at it... or every time a visitor points to it and says "What happened here?"

      We've been shopping for this refrigerator for a few months, it's one of only a few that would fit our cabinet opening perfectly. Lowes never had a sale on this unit, Home Depot would mark it down a bit now and then, but Costco had it on sale at a really attractive price and unlike the others, Costco was free instal and free haul away for the old fridge and added one year to the standard warranty. So we signed up for a Costco card and ordered the unit.
      The two delivery guys that Costco sent bumped the refrigerator it into a chair rail bringing it into the kitchen, it was a very light tap and I didn't think much of it. We had a contractor installing new bathroom tile in the room above the kitchen and his assistant was back and forth in the kitchen cutting tile in the driveway and taking them upstairs, so there was a lot going on at the time and I was distracted and should have inspected and refused the refrigerator before they left. I contacted Costco about the damage the next day and they wanted to see if LG would send a new drawer rather than replace the whole unit. A few weeks went by and then a Sears appliance repair specialist was sent by LG to inspect the damage. He told us he would write up an order to have a new drawer shipped to us and left.
      A month went by and I called Costco for an update. Costco told me LG declined to send a new drawer and now that we had had the refrigerator for over a month our options were limited to replace the unit with a new one or take the $150 refund. I wanted to go ahead and get a new fridge, but my wife didn't want the hassle of dealing with the delivery process all over again so we accepted the $150. Now that the dent is mostly corrected I'm good with how it looks and I've glad to have the whole ordeal settled.
      The next time an appliance is delivered I'll make a video of the entire delivery and hook up process and then test and inspect the appliance before the delivery personnel leave.

      Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I was surprised at how easy the kit was to use and how well it pulled the dent out, especially considering the crease that runs along the deepest part of the dent. Good luck with your dent removal project!

    Any metal will respond much better if it has had heat! Using a hair dryer and pulling after you warm it up should make pulls easier and make metal more mailable.

    thanks for vid. I heated the dent with a heat gun first then placed the tab over the dent and then used a aircan to cool the glue thoroughly. I found this gave a better stick when I used the puller. I got about 90% improvement on the dent. I used a hammer with a cd cover in between to level the dent as flat as possible as the puller does raise the metal a bit, this helped alot to level the area evenly. Dont think you can get the dent 100% unnoticeable?

      Good ideas on preheating the metal and cooling it with compressed air, I may try those techniques the next time I repair a dent. My dent had a crease in the metal so given my skill level I'm happy to have removed most of the dent and decided to quit there before I messed something up. :)

    Using alcohol to clean the dented surface before gluing the device, this helps adhesion. (Think about the command hook directions)

      Yes, cleaned dent four times with alcohol before gluing the pull tab. ruclips.net/video/68dhlWD3J7M/видео.htmlsi=nqVO7BmTrcPvPpSO&t=257

    So, what happened with your dent removal on your vehicles?

    • @Koolbob2
      @Koolbob2  Месяц назад

      Funny that you should ask, I just got around to dent pulling on my truck a couple of weeks ago. I had one large, but very shallow dent above the plastic trim over the passenger side front tire. I used the largest dent puller pad in the kit and was able to make the dent much less noticeable. I also has a small, sharper door ding in the rear door on the passenger side, similar to what was on the fridge. I pulled and pulled on it, but was only able to make it slightly better. After pulling each spot five or six times I called it a day.

    Can I do this on fingerprint resistant, stainless steel?

    • @Koolbob2
      @Koolbob2  3 месяца назад +1

      Good question, it would depend on if the glue will stick to the fingerprint resistant treatment. I'm sorry, but the only way to know would be to buy a kit and give it a try. If you give it a try please report back and let us know how it worked!

  • @Pixxelina
    @Pixxelina 6 месяцев назад +2

    I bought this kit for two small dents I have on the fridge. I’ve tried 7 times and it has not worked. The attachment just pops off after 2 pulls of the crank without pulling the dent out.

    • @Koolbob2
      @Koolbob2  6 месяцев назад

      I think there may be some residual film from some soap, cleaner, or protectant keeping the glue from sticking. Or there could even be a 'non-stick' coating on the stainless steel. I'd recommend throughly cleaning the surface with something like dawn dishwashing soap, simple green, 409, etc. then cleaning with alcohol and trying again. You might also find good tips on the dent puller manufacturer's web site. Please let us know if you have any luck.

      Same issue. For small dents dont think it works well, as smaller the tag the lesser the traction. Seemed better if put the glue on the fridge instead, but still popped out eventually

    Will this work on a finger proof steel refrigerator?

    • @Koolbob2
      @Koolbob2  3 месяца назад

      It should, unless the fingerprint proofing makes the hot melt glue unable to stick. Find an inconspicuous spot on the fridge, clean the area with rubbing alcohol and see if hot melt glue will stick to the surface. if it sticks you should be good to go.

      @@Koolbob2 unfortunately I don't have any inconspicuous areas to test this on but I have to do something because it is so noticeable. I have a French door refrigerator and it's on the freezer drawer about a quarter of the way down on the right maybe 6 to 8 in from the side. Maybe I'll try the kit on my husband's car first, 😂

    • @Koolbob2
      @Koolbob2  3 месяца назад

      @@susanhuckemeyer7061 I tested the glue on the edge of the door, down at the bottom. If it had messed anything up it wouldn't matter in that location.

      I would have gladly taken Costco up on their offer to ship another refrigerator and take the dented one back, but my wife didn't want to deal with waiting for the delivery folks to show up and moving our food back and forth another time. I suggested to Costco that they have a new door drop-shipped to me from LG and I'd install it myself, they initially agreed to this solution, but it became clear that neither LG or Costco wanted to pay for the door and shipping. I was surprised that Costco would rather pay for a second refrigerator to be delivered and eat the cost of an entire refrigerator rather than simply replace the door. Whatever. Costco offered a 15% cost adjustment and I agreed. In the end I was able to remove the dent and came out about $100 ahead after buying the dent removal kit.

    Bought this kit and it was junk. Glue didn't stick and just a cheap puller.

    • @Koolbob2
      @Koolbob2  5 месяцев назад

      Sorry it didn't work out for you. I cleaned the fridge with dawn dish soap and then with rubbing alcohol and I applied the glue tab to the dent and it popped right off. It stuck a little better the second time and even better the third. Got the dent almost completely out on the fourth attempt and decided that was good enough.
