FightinCowboy Hey dude just bought this game and your video helped me so much. First time playing and that black knight is a bitch lol. But my question is im following all your doing. But at 16.30 instead of going up the stairs to that boss i went down the stairs using master key and something way on the bottom one shot killed me. What is that and have you defeated it because here you dont go that way?
Fun Fact: If you choose “No” to cooperating with Solaire your save file gets deleted, the game uninstalls itself and Miyazaki sends a couple of goons to your house to rough you up
While I'm enjoying the remaster immensely, it seems quite a few folks in the community are being entitled about it so I'd like to remind everyone that this isn't a re-make, it's a remaster. A remaster, by definition: Remaster (also digital remastering and digitally remastered) refers to enhancing the quality of the sound or of the image, or both, of previously created recordings, either audiophonic, cinematic, or videographic. If you don't want to play the remaster, you certainly don't have to. Personally I can't wait to enjoy Dark Souls 1 with a much larger community than it's ever had before, in 60fps, with dedicated servers for connectivity, and revamped summoning/pvp.
Fukin hell finally someone who isnt being a bitch about it. If u r so discontent with the remaster then gtfo a remaster is always just a same version of the game excep prettier n runs better there arent supposed to be changes thats a re-make/re-imagining. The way some youtubers related to souls game have been bitching about this is ridiculous.
The biggest struggle I have with Dark Souls is the inability to tell if I just suck or if I need to level my character more to face certain enemies. Hope that makes sense.
Player level doesn't really matter, it just allows you to wield the weapons, spells, have so much HP/Endurance, etc. The most important part is how upgraded your weapon is.

It's crazy how linear the game feels when you start. But then you find out how to get the secret items in Undead Burg. And THEN you find Undead Parish. And THEN you realize it loops back to Firelink. It's such an incredible feeling.
Istg it isn't so at all. And I am at the very start of the game yet I already found at least three mini boss/swordsmen scattered around, not counting the corpse guys (weaker than Hollow dudes) who swarm on you when you get somewhere. I dropped Hollow Knight and I am probably gonna drop DS soon too. They both mostly make you lose your entire currency just because you want to wander around. Exploring shouldn't be encouraged imo, not discouraged. Also not knowing if you can beat any foe you come across isn't something I favour. (Yes, I know I am being a crybaby, nice game, nice ambience but not for me)
You couldn’t even begin to imagine how much this helped me. This is my first time ever playing a souls game, and this is probably the hardest game I’ve played in my life. I died well over 20 times to the dark knight alone and often died to the regular axe guys. However, thanks to the walkthrough I finally was able to beat the the dark knight and get to the boss fight.

Sir Ratch509 so if you dont kill the dragon by shooting off his tail like in this video, do you ever get to kill him? Cowboy said to run past and light the bonfire.. but didnt mention if you can kill him, or if you come back later when your stronger, or if you just have to run past him, and miss out on the 10k souls forever.. 😖

For anyone who wonders about the dragon tail and the bowscaling. Thanks to you I learned I can kick shields, earned my sub. I beat the game with a friend and doing NG+ alone, damn near can't remember where to go, so I'm looking forward to playing along with this walkthrough.

11:51 that information isn't quite correct. This door can be opened with the Master Key, which you chose as your Starting Gift. The only door you need the Residence Key for is the one in Lower Undead Burg where you free the sorcerer Griggs of Vinheim!

The whole drake falling is because the bridge doesn’t really allow the drakes model move in a perpendicular motion to the bridge so it causes the drake to fall
for the lizard just before the Taurus demon its located second floor with the barrels not the first floor with barrels roughly around {timestamp} [16:05 to 17:00] had the right idea but was 1 floor off this may be 5 years to late but i hope it helps
Thanks so much for this guide. I absolutely have always sucked at Souls games, but I am determined to start with Dark Souls 1 and learn because there are so many great Souls like games I am missing out on year after year, and I want to enjoy them to. After about 100 tries I finally beat the black knight and embarrassinglyb I think it I grew as a person and leveled up IRL today. He dropped the Black Knight Sword for me, woohoo, even though I apparently can't use it yet, but seeing as nobody in my personal life will really appreciate the struggle, I came here instead to inform you. I plan on watching the rest of the series to get even farther. Thanks again.
Just wanted to say that without this channel, I wouldn't've beaten DS2 or 3, so thank you for these wt's. Gonna pick this game up soon so I can get my ass kicked in higher quality.
in the original version you could make him fall through the bridge by going up the tower to fight the Black Knight with the Giant Great Sword near by and shoot the dragon in the back of the head to make him jump to his death. This was due to the PS3 and 360 not being able to render the bridge below as solid due to being so far away but this just seems like a much different bug
I think the reason he died is because the last hit was when the dragon was on the bridge instead of on the roof of the building (or wherever it is he's normally standing). Because the tail cut animation triggered when he was on the bridge and in his phase of jumping back to his original spot, that made him kind of glitch through the bridge. I don't know if it's a bug exclusive to the remastered version, I'm pretty sure it could do the same thing in the OG version.
I just run back, and closed the door in front of him(before last bridge to fire).. he stuck on closed door, and I just use bow to kill him.. quite safe

Killed the black night, killed the Taurus demon, killed the hog, opened the second gate. Never once talked to the merchant or lit the bonfire at the first gate. Been running around in circles so this helps a lot. Thanks man
I just got this game Yesterday and it’s the first Dark souls game I play. I actually died multiple times on the first boss but I killed the Taurus demon on the second try and I’ve never felt so good about killing a boss in a game. I’m really enjoying this game so far
Thank you for these videos... I picked up this game recently and I felt pretty lost. I wasn't leveling my character properly. I was killing things, but it took forever.
It's still clunky IMO I always found DkS1 and 2 clunky but IDK after the smoothness of DkS3 and Bloodborne, this game feels even more clunky than ever (same with DkS2 Scholars of the First Sin remaster). Maybe it's just me.
The bonfire you speak of 3 minutes into the video: I am going to rest there JUST TO RESPAWN ENEMIES REPEATEDLY and VANQUISH THEM REPEATEDLY UNTIL I have ENOUGH SOULS to UPGRADE ALL STRENGTHS ASTRONOMICALLY.
@@60secondgaming21 No I focused on HP, ENDURANCE, DEXTERITY and STRENGTH ALL at the SAME TIME, I killed enemy combatants, respawned them by resting at the bonfire and then killed them again, I didn't stop until vanquishing the Taurus Demon boss STOPPED being so much easier said than done, when I reached the bridge to the Undead Parish, I climbed beneath the bridge kicked down the ladder and my next soul farming method was I kicked down the ladder and I repeatedly made the Helkite dragon give me 550 souls over and over again by killing the hollow soldiers with third degree burns he intended for me, I went to Darkroot Garden, lit the bonfire, rested at it, killed Alvina's soldiers, respawned them by resting at the bonfire and killed them again, I did the same method with the sentinels at Anor Londo and I did the same thing the phalanx formation in the painted World of Ariamis, right now in Ds1 I am level 365 and I got Dark Souls for Christmas and I have beaten Ds1 I think 4 times? When I logged into my youtube account and saw the notification of your reply to my comment I was HOPING your comment would be the answer to my question of how to do the SAME THING as the ABOVE LISTED SOUL FARMING STRATEGIES IN DS3 on part 3 of Fightincowboy's DS3 walkthrough, LOL.
1: Dragon doesn't die. 2: Dragon has (at least) 3 attacks while on the perch. A: Breathes fire down the bridge B: Takes off and fills the bridge with fire(will likely insta-kill you) C: Takes off and lands in front of you on the bridge... This is the move you are waiting for... But by the time you see the difference between B and C - it is too late to run. :/ This tactic is ZERG - and NOT safe.
watching this makes it feel like it's easy. while me when the crow throw me i went straight for the bells and ended up in Depth cursed and lost and the only way ahead is through blighttown.
When I run on the bridge, I got nailed by the dragon and just vaporized. You got hit and it barely did any damage. I have the same vitality as you, what gives?

i beefed with that guy and he killed me like 20 times lmao i dont think he'll give me them flasks@@adrianmalsher6740
why do i only get 6@@adrianmalsher6740

Dude, that dragon kill is what I needed. I've been stuck at the blacksmith section and nowhere to go, but grind for souls. Thanks for uploading these walkthroughs
6 years later and still one of the best guides
I'm playing dark souls for the first time and these videos are helping me a lot! Thank you so much, you're like the dark souls guru.
11:51 that information isn't quite correct. This door can be opened with the Master Key, which you chose as your Starting Gift. The only door you need the Residence Key for is the one in Lower Undead Burg where you free the sorcerer Griggs of Vinheim!
Good to know, I was going to skip they key for that reason but now with your information knowing it can be used elsewhere I'll pick it up, tyvm!
@@TerminalM193 You're most welcome!
cowboy, im happy you're doing the walkthru, thanks....Please, please show all your leveling up progression, rather than all of a sudden show your character 10 levels higher with all new armor...actually show how you got there..(i say this because i saw your bloodborne walkthru and it left me wanting when all of a sudden you were a higher level....that will really help make this one of the best most comprehensive walkthrus....thanks again for all your great work!
I will be.
I found the same with the DS3 walkthrough, glad he's doing it with this one. Live and learn. Love this guy though.
^ MVP. Thanks Cowboy!
John Pierce it's called level grinding and farming. :-P That can be quite tedious to do, much less watch.
The whole drake falling is because the bridge doesn’t really allow the drakes model move in a perpendicular motion to the bridge so it causes the drake to fall
is there a way to force this? he survived for me
@@iProCombo same he is up for me
for the lizard just before the Taurus demon
its located second floor with the barrels not the first floor with barrels roughly around {timestamp} [16:05 to 17:00]
had the right idea but was 1 floor off
this may be 5 years to late but i hope it helps
Gonna pick this game up soon so I can get my ass kicked in higher quality.
the lizard is there, he's on the floor above inside a barrel just before the fog door! 17:00
The dragon dying must be a bug. I doubt From Soft would make a change that would give people that much of an advantage in terms of souls.
darkwzrd4 Definitely a bug... Pause the video at 26:49... You can see the dragon falling through the level...
in the original version you could make him fall through the bridge by going up the tower to fight the Black Knight with the Giant Great Sword near by and shoot the dragon in the back of the head to make him jump to his death. This was due to the PS3 and 360 not being able to render the bridge below as solid due to being so far away but this just seems like a much different bug
The dragon didn't dye for me
Also didnt die for me, and i had already spent the 10000 souls i was going to get.
I have been going under the bridge forever. Thank you so much. I know the game is hard but I was convinced that there should be a bonfire
This guys having the best run ever lol
13:30 instead of killing the dark knight with backstabs it's much easier to make him fall from the gap in the stair's handrail into the abyss.
I just run back, and closed the door in front of him(before last bridge to fire).. he stuck on closed door, and I just use bow to kill him.. quite safe
Him: You can kill him
Later: Gotta get the tail with the bow
Me: HUH?!
Yep
That’s me rn . I was like ahh yes a good weapon for my build and a free key I’ll kill him since I don’t need anything else. Him: we forgot to buy the bow. I’m now in pain
@@kierandowns8885 so I've only found one other post about it, but I don't have the option to buy the bow from him. It's kinda driving me insane lol not sure if it's a glitch or...
@@rynokillface13 I ended up making a new character. The weapon u get is too good not to pick up. I’ll see if I can find anything about that glitch but if it’s not looking good I might wanna think about restarting. It took me like 30mins to get to the trader again after collecting everything
@@rynokillface13 I’ve think I’ve seen the only post ur talking about . I’ve seen some people say that the bow was registered as another item. Someone said for them it was a drake sword for them but putting it in 2 handed caused it to turn back to a bow . Maybe it’s just a visual bug or maybe u might have to restart if ur wanting the bow
16:00 - yeah, me too. Currently playing on Switch for the first time. Having not played any of the soulsborne games except Bloodborne, Dark Souls feels slow and clunky in comparison. These videos have been a massive help so far, so, many thanks!
Legit had to look this video back up because I forgot how to drop the ladder near that 1st bonfire. God bless you man!
second time watching through lol Used this guide in ng+ to get everything and now I'm watching for the nostalgia haha Seriously cowboy you're an asset to this community
Parrying does more dmg than back stabbing
You reaching undead burg under an hour inspired me to continue trying to kill the guy sitting in firelink shrine
You can kill him by pushing him off a ledge
This made me realize the undead Burg isn’t hard but I just kept going to the wrong area and had to do it all over because I thought I had to jump the gap to get to the boss. Actually I’m just really bad at the game
Just got done watching your DS3 walkthrough and it was amazing! I haven’t played OG DS in like 10 years so the natural choice was to come back to the gaming god himself
Welcome back, what build did you run ?
@@SirGuidemere91 I was lucky enough to get the Black Knight Sword so I ran a strength build us the BKS, super fun
@@paulroche7588 lucky lol. On my 3 playthroughs it hasn’t dropped. Have you played all of the games? I’m currently doing a zweli strength build right now. I’m lost so back to the walkthrough I go. Lol it’s been a while
I watched some of your walk throughs in Elden ring(I wanted to be surprised), watched them again my second play through in full to get my platinum. Just wanted to say thank you for your in-depth walkthroughs! You’re the best there is.
Aka residence key is not needed if you choose the master key as starting gift
late reply, but dont you still need it if you wanna save the wizard in lower burg? I didnt think Master Key opened that door?
@@aaronlucas2477 but you dont need to buy that key from that merchant, you can just kill him and get the "key" and "uchigatana"
I started playing and reached till the taurus demon. Then saw this video and realized how much stuff I missed so I started playing again 😂😂following you
You forgot to make the turn.
Shark 591 😂
What turn?
Kiwi 1:00 there’s a door to the left
Thank you so much I’ve been stuck for 14 and a half hours
Just threw the towel in on a 25 hour game to start again using this guide. Looking forward to the journey, great videos thank you
I can confirm that when using this bow tactic against dragon, it didnt die in my case. Cowboy just got hella lucky there! :D
I probably died 50 times on the Black Knight before I stopped fighting him and thinking it was going to be easy for 25 more fights and guess where that got me to being pissed off and going to the next boss so mad that I couldn't even control my character properly and guess what happened I ended up rage quitting losing the game for about 2 years then I when I found the game I tried to do the same thing with your same tutorial same thing but instead of two years one year and now I am trying this all over again
Gl the story is amazing
You have issues. This game is pretty easy for the most part. Black knights are easy because you can backstab them over and over again
Parry abuse. Ez clap.
Kenshin Himura Oh shut the fuck up
Kenshin Himura you’re ignorant for judging someone who has less free time and patience than you
"yeah, just ignore this ENORMOUS DRAGON right in front of you.'
I just bought Dark Souls Remastered for my switch and... this is my very first ever playthrough. thank you so much, this is invaluable
Killed the black night, killed the Taurus demon, killed the hog, opened the second gate. Never once talked to the merchant or lit the bonfire at the first gate. Been running around in circles so this helps a lot. Thanks man
I killed the merchant before I got the bow 😭😭😭
I was literally in the middle of commenting “you forgot about one of the soul items here” when you said “I think I forgot one of the items here”
When you said buy 50 arrows I decided that I'll buy them for later I the game as well so I got 75. Well it took me 51 arrows to take out the tail
I didn't know how to aim and just used 150 dards
i just started ds1 (my first ever souls game ) and these guides have been a godsend. i know im late to the party, but thanks for all the work you do!!
Is it still clunky? I’m not complaining I’m just asking.
YES! THE RAG DOLLS! I CAN SUPLEX HOLLOWS BY ROLLING INTO THEM.
Apparently the game feels really smooth, I hate the clunkiness of DS2
It's still clunky IMO I always found DkS1 and 2 clunky but IDK after the smoothness of DkS3 and Bloodborne, this game feels even more clunky than ever (same with DkS2 Scholars of the First Sin remaster). Maybe it's just me.
It is clunky
The bonfire you speak of 3 minutes into the video: I am going to rest there JUST TO RESPAWN ENEMIES REPEATEDLY and VANQUISH THEM REPEATEDLY UNTIL I have ENOUGH SOULS to UPGRADE ALL STRENGTHS ASTRONOMICALLY.
You don't to do focus on hp and endurance for next
This episode has helped me a lot and all I needed was to know about how to get passed the dragon. Thank you so much!!!
The crystal lizards is straight across from the boss door. Cowboy was 1 level below where it is. Thank you so much for the walkthrough. I'd be so lost
Wrong floor of the tower for crystal lizard. It's on the floor with the Taurus Demon fog wall.
Yeah, inconsistency in my notes. Not a major loss tho.
True, just thought I would mention for teh newbs.
ahhh makes sense thank you
16:57 Cowboy the lizard is in the floor above this one. Just so you know.
Don't know why, but I went through 100 arrows and still didn't shoot the tail off. Kind of gave up since all I did was waste souls on arrows.
Which role u choose at first ?
1: Dragon doesn't die.
2: Dragon has (at least) 3 attacks while on the perch.
A: Breathes fire down the bridge
B: Takes off and fills the bridge with fire(will likely insta-kill you)
C: Takes off and lands in front of you on the bridge... This is the move you are waiting for... But by the time you see the difference between B and C - it is too late to run. :/
This tactic is ZERG - and NOT safe.
16:10 the lizard was on the next floor, same floor as that door with white thing
watching this makes it feel like it's easy. while me when the crow throw me i went straight for the bells and ended up in Depth cursed and lost and the only way ahead is through blighttown.
When I run on the bridge, I got nailed by the dragon and just vaporized. You got hit and it barely did any damage. I have the same vitality as you, what gives?
Resistance and endurance
Getting hit while running across the bridge the first time does considerably less damage so that the player can get to the shortcut
I had no idea there was a dragon coming up when I played this last night. It set my ass ablaze aaaaand I lost ALL my souls. ... I was NOT happy. -_-
LOL that was me but I never lost soul by him only black knight because he is scary 😂
Thrust, slammed, spinning is highest damage from these guys
Just bought this game, your videos always help me out a lot. You are by far my favorite youtuber, you play all the games that interest me.
The biggest struggle I have with SoulsBourne games is deciding whether to follow cowboy’s guides religiously or just go about it on my own.
Do what ever it takes, either way its still hard work and time well spent.
He just spent souls for a key, to open a door, that can be opened by the master key, that he has
Dude. I landed right on the Taurus Demon and he bucked me off the entire bridge and I fell to my death. Wtf!
Lmao. Did you ever get past em?
Vaughn Yeah, the next try I was able to execute the plunge attack correctly even though I didn’t do anything differently. It was pretty hilarious
@@iergosum Good shit.
When i went to go buy standard arrows i bought wooden arrows.
gotta save that 7 souls
bro, he jumped onto the tower and i fr shit myself bruh
😂🤣 💯
After playing Elden ring I came back to play this masterpiece I love it so far
18:30 That thing must have thought what we are usually thinking: "What!? What the heck was that!? How am I even supposed to kill this thing!?? Fuck them devs, this shit is unfair.." 🤣🤣
You can kill this first Black Knight by making him run off an edge fairly painlessly. Personally I find it much easier than trying to go mano a mano.
Edit: It does not work all the time, and it's not nearly as fun.
I accidentally discovered that and laughed my ass off
I was so happy when I REKT that black knight for the first time.
You don’t need to buy the key to get the chest with the gold pine at 12:12
Mr. Cowboy whom fights!, thank you for this guide, and others. I used several of your Elden Ring guides, for difficult areas like Farum Azula, and Haligtree. Also your commentary was very helpful for learning/cementing various mechanics. Cheers! Now on to Dark Souls 1.
I’m playing the Original version; not remastered. Can confirm the dragon does not die!
Me and the Elden Beast are currently going round and round in circles! Lol. In the meantime I just bought DS1. So, I’ll be alternating for a bit. 😊
Ok i suck at the game and just killed the merchant before watching this and now i find out hes important🤣
Hey guys,
question,
I did get my Drake Sword after shoting the dragon tail, but the dragon didn't die, he still sits on the top of the, well, tower
why is that?O.O
Jacob Gwiazdowski it’s actually a glitch that can sometimes kill the dragon
@@ernestomejia8242 that makes sense, thanks
Jacob Gwiazdowski no problem
Same thing just happened to me. Got the sword and it didn't die. Nevermind.
I’ve used 200 arrows and still nothing
215 and still nothing :(
I feel bad for watching the guide, but I have no idea what to do without it
Thank you for the guide! I finally decided to give this game another chance after years of not touching it again after dying multiple times to the Asylum demon...I came across the black knight last night and lost a bit of hope after I got my ass handed to me on a silver platter, but even just watching your combat helps a ton!
