    FINALLY THE VIDEO I NEEDED!! Been looking at how to run a 4l80e on my k5 and now I'm putting a 6.0 in as well. I know with the VSS you have to use a 2wd transmission so this just saved my keister!

    So glad you showed all this in good detail I will go this same route on my 87 build amazing how the drivelines still work and most important the 4x4 gear stick shifter will still be in the stock location 👍🇺🇸 Love the Christian shirt by the way god bless have fun 🙏

      Finally completed this 2 nights ago. Took what was needed off the trans output, and took 1/8" off the t-case input. It's all bolted together and functions as should👌🏽

    I just did this swap with a 4l60e has no internal speed sensor for to tell the ppcm when to shift I guess it requires the 42 tooth reluctor , thinking of going with a 2 wd 4l80 great video thanx for sharing

    @LonniesGarage My 84 K10 is lifted and the transfer case adapter that’s under there is raised. I’m trying to find a similar adapter for my swap.

    North West Fab makes an adapter to run a 205 on the 4L80 trans.
    I am doing the same thing in a Chevy G30 van with the 205 and a Ford front axle, gives more room then running GM or Dodge axle.

    Haven't finished my 82 c10 ls swap for my daughter yet and now I traded for a 85 k10. Lmbo the wife says I'm incurable. Got a new work truck so thinking about sacrificing my 01 tahoe daily driver for the donor

    Great job!! Did you get the cab on yet? If so, any issues with the motor? I have a 69 K10 that I'm doing the LS swap on. I've found vids of either the motor swap or the trans swap with the older transfer case on 4x4's, but not both on the 4x4's. Where and how did you know that adapter was the right one? I can't seem to find in the description on the amazon site saying what is does and does not fit. I have a NP205. Do you know if it would fit my 205? Hope you can help. Thanks.

    on the tranny side the bolt pattern is way too big on the adapter they sent me. i dont know what it fits and i have a fdew trdansmissions herde. im born again too by the way. thanks.

    Hey Lonnie, loving the video so far. One reomendation I would offer you, if only because i was watching how close your shirt was getting to the death wheel, you might want to get some kind of metal workers apron that wraps around your waist to keep stuff away from the old spinner. I'm not a safety nazi or anything but that thing had to be super close to eating your shirt my friend. I know it's probably hot and humid but I don't think any of us want to see you doing this video shirtless!!! LOL

    So how did shortening the transmission shaft work out? Any hiccups afterwards driving like binding or slippage?

      Worked great. It’s now the same size as a stock shaft for a 4x4 trans.

    You need a correctly drilled flex plate for 6 bolts as the t c has.

      The computer they controls the motor also controls the transmission

    Hey Lonnie, I reused my NP208 and put it behind a 4x4 4l80. What did you do about your support rod going from the side of the Transfer Case to the Bellhousing? Did you leave it off or fabricate a new one? Thanks!

      No , 4L60E doesn't have splines all the way down shaft

      The transmission is from an 01 Chevy express van and the t-case is from an 80s square body Chevy.

    You videos are the best. I have a GMC k15 4x4 I just put a 6.0 in. It has a th350 trans at the moment on its last leg. I’m deciding between a 4l80 or a th400. What are your recommendations? Th400 seems more cost effective. It is a pavement princess not driven much haha

      I believe the 4l80e is just the newer version of the Th400

      Not yet but I'm going to. Truly you don't have to plug it tho. Just seal the case to the trans adapter really well and it won't hurt if fluid does get in there.

    What did you end up using for a trans mount? The later 4l80 mount and drilled the holes? Mines an early crossmember so it will be different than your dip crossmember. But still interested to know.

      To be honest I'm not sure. But what I do know is that the trans in this one and my son's was able to have the crossmember in its stock location

    Did u have the trans crossmember inside the frame rails? Was that just for mocking up temporary

      That was just for temp. It automatically bolts to the bottom side of the frame rails. I bolted it in the stock location

      @Lonnie Ok. I also have a ‘84 K10. It was my brother’s truck. He passed away a couple of years ago. I’m trying to build mine like he would have wanted. Haven’t decide if an LS swap is in my future yet. I’ll be watching closely and will probably do as you do.

      2 wheel drive will have a trail shaft oiler that lets the fluid come to the tail shaft

    I bet by using a clocking ring, you wouldn't need to grind the ball area on the output shaft.
    Also I didn't see a 4x4 motor mount kit on Tejas's website. Just 2wd. Probably why your pan is hitting.

      @@LonniesGarage lucky, I’m looking at doing the same swap, my 208 is 27 spline, most of these 4l80s are 32 I believe, and finding a 241 under 3k is impossible. Good info here! I’m gonna cut down a 2wd and bolt it up!

    How much of the metal ring did you grind back? Couldn't make it out in the video. I'm converting an 03 to 4wd and this is what ive been looking for. Cause I have all the K5 running gear and need passenger side drop.

    Hey Lonnie, thanks a lot for the videos. I did the 4wd conversion today. Went really well. I had to grind the lip on the transfer case input shaft as well in order to mate the TC.
    I'm a bit concerned on the input shaft that is no longer "balanced" due to the grinding.
    Are you having any issues? Or are you concerned with that?

      The 4l80e 2 wheel drive has both speed sensors in the trans by the shifter.

    Hey Lonnie, awesome videos man! I have a question for ya. With a 4x4 4L80 do you know if the output shaft and factory adaptor will accept a 208. I’m doing basically the same swap as you but my donor vehicle is a 4x4. It does have 2 tone rings and vss sensors. I didn’t know if you had any experience with 4x4 transmissions. Thanks in advance!

      Sorry I don't know about the 4x4. Look at the spline count and see if they match. If some I don't see why you couldn't get the adaptor and use the 208 tcase

    do you have a part # for those motor mounts? I thought those mounts moved the motor pretty far forward and raised the engine higher. Love the Christian shirt!! god bless

      @@prancstaman FWIW the whole kit on a C/k Chevy Square body does not include a water pump because it's just a blower unit that replaces the oem junk under the dash and then the compressor and hoses/wiring. I think they offer options for LS swap brackets (high/low) and stock motor setups too.

    What transmission / transfer case combo came out of the truck originally? That would affect the length of that front driveshaft and whether it would bolt up. I've been kicking around doing an LS/4l80e/208 setup in my 77 K20, but not sure how the mounting position of the trans and transfer case would compare with what you have here. And I've had no luck so far finding a passenger drop 208 locally. Either way, great video! I'm sure a lot of us appreciate the effort that goes into filming and editing.

      To be honest I haven't looked yet to see what came stock in this truck. Yeah the time filming is a lil rough. I want to just keep busting butt on the build but I have to stop and move the camera from time to time lol not to mention editing lol

    you are not susposta cut a hardened shaft w o cooling it with oil. you will warp it and distemper it.

    Omg is not T jay’s “ TEJAS” is how Texas was pronounced locally until American settlers came in and couldn’t pronounce a J as an H sound and it got all twisted up and became easier and cooler to say TEXAS and I agree hhhhaaha
    So the business is Tejas Steel Works owned by Scotty
