    👓About This Video: In this video, Dr. Vijay Shenai and his wife Theresa test to see if soap can actually help to keep your glasses from fogging up. We are having to deal with foggy glasses with masks on a daily basis right now. So any anti-fog hacks are always appreciated. The products that we are trying today to fight the fog is Dawn dish soap, Palmolive, Seventh Generation, Dove hand soap, Ivory, and Irish Spring. The results may surprise you!

    yep either works very well and there are three tricks for optimal performance, one of them being detailedin the video. The first is to not use water to remove the soap after application. The second is leave the soap on the glasses for at least 3 minutes before removing (the longer the better). The final trick is to continuously do this throughout the day, as the main goal is to create a protective coat over the lens, which will only be better following re-application. And the reason why I have faith in this process is due to me depending on it for extreme cold weather hiking: those who are aware know that eyeglass fogging from col weather is much worse than that from wearing a mask.

  • @panke216

    Using Dawn, it works pretty well in a less heavy duty condition, but in a real heavy duty condition, the condensed water still piling up on your lens, when there's too much water, it starts to form into water drops and rolling down from the top of yours lens, and leaves a water mark on your lens, eventually, still can blur your vision.

  • @kweenjade01

    Don't use soap as it has chemicals that eat away at the lens (over time ofc). If you have any kind of coating (scratch resistant, anti reflective, bluelight) etc it's a NO

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  2 года назад

      Depends on the soap, but I'd agree, don't use unless it's an emergency fog situation. 😉

    How long will dawn last before you have to apply more

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  3 года назад +1

      We have found that Dawn works best on lenses without an antiglare coating. Other than that, it lasted on some of our glasses for 2-3 days. I also wipe my glasses constantly because I'm a little OCD, so it didn't last long on my glasses.

  • @fossil956

    Poor AR coating. Crazing will happen to these glasses after long use of soap.

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  3 года назад +2

      You're right, but it depends on the soap. Stay away from soaps with alcohol and ammonia! But if you do have crazing, most opticals will replace the lens for free within 1-2 years of when you bought the glasses.

    • @ProFitHearing
      @ProFitHearing 3 года назад +2

      @@TrueFocusEyeCare Yes, that would irritate your eyes. What do you recommend for an eye rinse (should that happen)?

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  3 года назад +1

      Bottled water is probably the cleanest water you can find quick and on hand. Cold is fine, but room temp is best. Simple saline is also good, but some of the added preservatives can also irritate the eyes. But I hope you never have to go through that pain!

      It was not bad, but for what ever reason, the recommended white bars seemed to work the best! Again, this is for glasses without coatings. I have not had issues with ruining my coating with this method, but the anti-fog effect just doesn't last as long. My last anti-fog video shows what works best for coated lenses.
