I was expecting it to be quartz honestly, pleasantly surprised. I mean if they copy other watches every single time that's no good but once in a while? To do something people are kinda bound to like? Why not, nice job Citizen. The yellow one is very interesting too haha.
I was HOPING for it to be a quartz watch instead. Hard to find nice looking, inexpensive and high quality quartz watches nowadays. GS reserves all their nicest designs for automatic/spring drive lines. And if their quartz model looks nice then it's a limited edition and super expensive. Citizen Chronomasters on the other hand are a bit too expensive for watches that you cannot service anywhere (if you live in EU).
I like it great bang for the buck. Even mictobands have trouble beating this price and with citizen quality control. The high end Citizen should come over. Solar quartz with great finishing is what is missing in the market right now. I like mechanical, but I rather quartz accuracy than a sweeping hand. Solar means no replacing batteries.
I have a small collection of watches (about 25). Most of them are citizen, one or two are other makes and about 5 or 6 are total crap (£10 to £30). My citizens hover around the £700 mark and are all solar powered (eco drive). The first citizen I bought was a stiletto for my then wife as an every day wear. I was so impressed with it that after our divorce I bought a titanium skyhawk while working on a site. After 20 odd years it is still going strong but recently I have had to have a new capacitor fitted. First quote was £120 and a couple of days later was amended to £200! I went ahead anyway. Prior to that, because it had had a rough life it was covered in scratches, mostly on the glass (I could hardly read the time it was so bad) and on the clasp with a few on the bracelet. Asked for a quote for a new bracelet and clasp and got one for £300! Settled for a new clasp at £40. This was before super titanium and sapphire glass. I don't know why citizen keep pushing the 'no battery to change' myth. The capacitor is a battery! Rechargable but still a battery of sorts. I have had to get my capacitors changed (under warranty) for 4 or 5 of my other citizen watches. The advantages of the capacitors are radio control, using the stop watch without running the power down (with normal battery power you run the risk of having to get a new battery fitted earlier). To say that there's no battery replacement required is incorrect and they're a lot more expensive than no rechargable. A typical capacitor change is £120! And they are citizen service centre only (says so on the case back). Still, I love my citizen watches, especially my bullheads, of which I have 4. I have one Casio wave cepter in titanium which cost me £112 a few years ago. I'm afraid that, apart from the build quality (pressed metal) on the clasp, but it still works well, it leaves all my other watches in the shade. Back to my main point which is that Citizen make wonderful watches but my god they're expensive to maintain and the capacitor issue. They don't last for ever!
I've had my eye on one for some time, especially the yellow-- easier to justify a fun color on a more inexpensive watch, and yet from a solid brand. Win-win.
He Gringa! Yes a damn good looking watch indeed. Would like the know the reference number of the gold plated. Cant find it. And now bakc to your channel🫢🤪
Hey Britt! I know your videos are focused on high end horology, but I think it could be interesting having your opinion on some iconic entry to mid level pieces. Best wishes! 😁
Citizen is a nicer brand than Seiko, they just don't market themselves much outside of Japan, and their high-end stuff is sold only in the Japanese domestic market. The Chronomaster is a work of art that is nicer than most Grand Seikos, but is still undiscovered in the west much like GS was ten years ago. And they are one of the few brands always trying to push the limits of how good a traditional quartz watch can be. In the west they seem to just quietly sell their more entry level eco-drive watches that still last for three decades without issues and have impeccable finishing, without ever seeming to market them to watch people.
I loved this video , this watch seems to be a natural progression from the Citizen Eagle range that my late father used to wear and I’ve since got , they may be cheap in comparison but they are really well made - and I like that the dial is so clean - the crown position also fits the design very well - nice and comfortable and very 70s - good job 👏🏼
I just bought one here in the US on the grey market and I really like this watch. Setting the date/time is no problem but hand winding it for a guy my size (6'4" 240) is kind of a pain. No hacking which kind of sucks but for the price, that beautiful yellow sunburst dial and Sapphire makes up for it. I really quite like the bracelet it comes on as well. Better than any seiko bracelet ive owned under $500.
I’m in U.K. I’ve got the H820. The bracelet is amazing and the ‘ecodrive’ watch, although difficult to set up without the help of RUclips videos brilliant, is fantastic. I wore it to my dad’s funeral as I didn’t want “Siri” from my Apple Watch shouting random phrases out!
Hi guys, I was so excited when these were launched here in India. However, they turned out to be a big disappointment in the flesh. The yellow is nowhere near as bright and vibrant as in the pictures, the bracelet feels very cheap ( Think old Seiko 5) and the watch wears much larger than a 40mm, probably due to its integrated bracelet design. For anyone looking to purchase one, please take a look at it in person before pulling the trigger!
Thanks! Whats the refrence # ? Considering buying. After your review im not sure how to feel. What do you think of Tissot PRX ? I love the steel but thinking go gold but im worried it will look tqcky and cheesy 🤔
out of all the "podcast-form" episodes you have, this by far makes sense to me as a budget-conscious buyer like Tom. its available here in Qatar. I believe, east Asian countries already have it for a while.

I would prefer a Tisoot PRX over this Citizen. Simply because I like the design better. You can choose between quartz and automatic. And there are two sizes available 40mm and 35mm. Sure the automatic version is more expensive than the Citizen, but to me, it's worth the premium.
Don't know if I missed it, but you should always include a lug end to lug end dimension in all reviews. I pay more attention to that than the case diameter.
It is a great PRX alternative. I had the green. Only downfall is the crown which is hard to wind due to its position. Plus what you do not see on the pics: the hands are a little bit too small for this dial. If you are looking for a smaller version go check out the Seiko 5SNK665, hard to find, no longer produced but 38mm case size and for me the right size. Much better on size than the PRX and this Citizen.
The angular case and rounded links don't gel too well. The final (if not end) link also looks a bit flatter and elongated, when you compare it to the other centre links, which is a pet peeve of mine. I think I'll pass. Nice yellow dial though!

Would to hear your views on the Seiko Save the Ocean SPB297, SPB299 & SPB301 Special Editions and how they compare to Grand Seiko Dials; texture wise, depth of colour etc
From other sources this was supposed to release in the EU on the 22nd July under 'Tsuyosa collection' in the 4 base colours for 299Euro, as far as I can see it hasn't happened. :(
Ordered the black dial arrived and I'm happy with it good weight nice wristfeel crown is a bit finniky but it works so no complaints here and its a nice dressy watch with a great bang for the buck
I think it may not happen. This watch has been available for a year or so, but only in southeast Asia - except Japan. It's only gotten harder to find and more expensive. Hope it has an actual domestic release but I'm skeptical.
Thanks for doing this video. I just had a spike in views for my unboxing video of this watch, that I did several months back when it was released in Asia.

Great review, i recently acquired the Citizen NJ0170-83X. It has a very nice teal / green colored dial, and i must say it looks the part too! Pictures dont do it justice. Very nice textured dial, gives it a whole other dimension too.
I like it quite a bit. I dont understand why you cant get 100m water resistance out of it. 50m always tells me "don't get it anywhere near water". I know the new Miyotas are really reliable but I dont think they're on par accuracy wise with Sellitas or ETAs.
Miyota 8210 is not bad, but it’s far from Rolex (requires evening accuracy control - to leave the watch vertically- or horizontally+ at night), does not like an active load such as running or intensive work, you won’t dance with them - it’ll throw a couple of minutes at once )) 5 BAR for Citizen it becomes some kind of bad tradition compared to 10 BAR from older models.
Great review but I am concerned about the movement... These days some of the 8 series hach and others do not. I love the idea of an affordable citizen that is automatic but no more non hacking movements please.

In my experience... i don't know why but in the west.. in Canada atleast you cant find any citizen automatics at all. The main focus seems to be on eco drive. Automatic citizens are found on ebay and many other sites but not in any store at all.
I have the "Big Eagle", a 41mm Automatic Citizen and wondering the same how there is no info whatsoever of it in the West, as it seemed being online available only from Citizen's own webshop in China and now sold out. Miyota 8210 is not bad, but it’s far from Rolex (requires evening accuracy control - to leave the watch vertically- or horizontally+ at night), does not like an active load such as running or intensive work, you won’t dance with them - it’ll throw a couple of minutes at once )) 5 BAR for Citizen it becomes some kind of bad tradition compared to 10 BAR from older models.
yeah but its not 4000-5000$ either 🤷♂
I loved this video!! 🔥🙌🏾Could you guys talk about QlockTwo next please????
Anybody know if there's an aftermarket rubber strap for these?
It's the Citizen NJ0150-Series.
There are already promotions in germany for them.
Great review but I am concerned about the movement... These days some of the 8 series hach and others do not. I love the idea of an affordable citizen that is automatic but no more non hacking movements please.
Someone please tell me the model of this watch
2:17 to me the case is a nod to the Oysterquartz
And I really loved the design of the OQ
Oysterquartz was a rip off of royal oak yo
@@1148bucknasty Oysterquartz was designed after the Rolex Texan Quartz which was designed by Gerald Genta who also designed the Royal Oak and the Nautilus.
What is this watch called again?
Is that Sam from watchfinder in Toronto ? ( Eglinton/Avenue rd ) Good dude if so! I have met friends in different provinces that know him and all speak well of him.
Only Eco-Drives, Eco-Drives everywhere...
BTW: 41mm is too large and even 40mm is. As an afterthought I'd liked a 38mm watch. 😑
