I had the most wonderful experience to meet the late great James Horner during a visit he made to Liverpool. I met him during an interview at BBC Radio Merseyside . To able to discuss the brilliant score to Apollo 13 my favourite film 🎥. A brilliant composer and a wonderfully down to earth person . Last memories for me .

This is a great story, a story of courage, team work, focus, dedication to mention but a few. "Failure is not an option" these words still repeat in my mind. I first heard them when I battled cancer in 1995, it became my mantra because it is so powerful, so positive. The "final theme" by James Horner is brilliant! I play it often because it is so uplifting. Good for meditation too :) I am grateful for such great creativity.

@xxJakinatorxx I weep too when I listen to this. Long gone now is a boy of 10 who sat. eyes glued to an old television watching what humanity could accomplish. Now I'm old and revel in my little world of dogs, cats and even my tortoise hibernating under my house. I too still look at the Moon at night and wonder "when will we return, and who will that be".

Beautiful theme by James Horner. Here's to Kennedy's Dream. "We choose to go to the moon! We choose to go to the moon in this decade, and do other things. Not because they are easy, but because they are hard."

one of the most suspenseful moments for me in this movie is when the guys at command and on the ship were doing the calculations by hand. Man, i can't imagine how they did that! Being that fatigued while doing math that had lives on the line!

The movie's soundtrack in general kicks ass, but it's really the 3 first minutes of this one during the end credits that does it for me!

The music catches the mood of the film so well. I watched Apollo 17 lift off, it was awsome. How did they let it happen that the ability to do it was almost lost and a generation cry hoax?
The time is not far off that all this will be beyond living memory. Will we ever go back?.... I don't think we ever will.

@greyedwards i think i have to watch this movie at least twice a week to stay happy... just the epic soundtrack and the ability of mankind to leave the confines of our planet and venture among the stars. and in the event of tragedy, like in this movie it shows the joint effort of the entire world to bring them home. just epicness pure astronomically epic win.

Horner is a master at using a vocal chorus to add depth and emotion to his compositions. This track is probably his master work in that regard, but you can check out the Glory soundtrack for some more brilliance.

@chillaxer1993 He is not delaying the progress of mankind. He holds on ice projects that would cost billions in search of planets or life outside our own Earth, yeah, I understand. But, for the instance, we need to concentrate on our civilization and putting the efforts at the right place. I know it is frustrating to see beautiful projects like these being hold, but we cannot ignore priorities like Health, Economy, etc. Even though there are wasting money in wars and politics...

This is some good work don't get me wrong, but what in the heck happened to the rich symphonic score that was originally taken from the movie soundtrack. I can't find it anywhere. The crash of the cymbals, the tympani, the brass and the strings blending together. No voices just the orchestra. Now that was magnificent music.

A word of warning though. Putting home movies together is fun and brings out the film director in all of us. If you have a wife or girlfreind and you want to keep her learn how to drag yourself away and give her a couple of minutes undivided attention every week or two.
Seriously though, have fun. By using YT to source you sound tracks every thing is there and just a few keystrokes away.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Russians have many more major accomplishments than we do. First man in space, first dog in space, first artificial satellite, first robotic rover (lunokhod 1), first on Venus, first on moon (unmanned), first probe sent to mars, first orbit of the moon, first space station, first space mission with multi-person crew, first space walk, first soft landing on the moon, first probe to land on mars. And many more that I don't have the energy to list, also they're capable of putting people in space right now and we aren't.
